Chapter 3 - Arc 1: How It All Began | History And Mythology Of Dragonoids | 2

---

The confidence of dragon kind.

There's a legend of the first dragon and how this dragon started all. She began in the water as all creatures presumed did and then crawled on land as her food sources dried up. The land harbored so many dangers so she grew wings...

Yet the dangers grew wings too.

She brought children to this world with a dead man, the first druid.

He wasn't aware he had children because the dragon never said anything but a whisper...

That these children were created and not bred.

They were named the First Children of the flying serpent, mankind saw them as partial demons. In the myths and legends, a serpent took the kind hand of Summer, the son of the sun, and helped him save the world, but mankind scorned the child of snakes and dragons.

Despite that, they have never stooped below humanity's need for sloth or greed.

Some humans pitied them, some humans even took it way too far. Many ignored their plight because they were not human-looking.

With the introduction of beast-kind came the recognition for all of them, but many dragonoids still remember the old days.

Beasts became human-like and the cycle repeated, but the first kind was the dragonoids.

Eventually this was the creation myth for every child of a dragon.

When the child was born, when coming to this world, it is ritualistically on a bed of dragon flowers. To symbolize their upbringing as pure and free.

The dragon flower. A fiery field of dragon flowers is always active during summer to burn brighter than the stars at night. They bloom near settlements of dragons. When touched or made contact with, they leave burn marks on the body, so only dragons can feel them, the warmth. Many dragonoids comment that it gives good luck and high confidence. To see them at night, when they burn brightest, is an honor to a dragon.

A child of dragons often loved to see those flowers blossom, so a family of dragons moved to Rivernest.

Rivernest had many, many flowers.

Rivernest was always a dragon's tent, but in recent years, every race that came after took the dragon's tent and twisted it with their beliefs.

In between the rivers grew this magnificent city. Dragonkind founded this city as a beacon of protection, for every dragon a safe harbor. The legends said the flying serpent came down to help the poor folks one last time.

Their mother helped them build the castles and beyond, but that was also a rumor and couldn't be proven.

Rivernest, the river city, became a place of diversity as different kinds of creatures started to live there. Dragons slowly became just dragonoid as the ages went by. The settlement grew to an unsustainable size and then split itself into three.

As the story continued, the city became unbearable, and hence something happened during that time, the dragons were deposed and became the laborers.

Dragonoids don't know they were the previous rulers.

A force beyond them usurped this position and drove everyone else to bow down. It was lost history.

But this present age.

Agnar Feuer came to be. An oddity in history known as the red rejected dragon. The stories of her ferocity are in the history books. She was honorable and kind, often seen as a savior figure. In her childhood, she loved the flowers that grew in the city, she was attracted to them like a moth. She grew to adore nature. Dearly she valued life and all that was beautiful in her head. She had no concept of being aware of what others said.

She was different than them.

She was a child still when the others could fly already.

A child who still blew fire and smoke, she huffed and puffed out clouds.

Agnar was often just a simpleton with no motor skills, no faith in her. Her parents were always one step away from overprotecting her from the world she knew nothing about. As a child, she knew nothing. As an adult, she was nothing in the eyes of her kin.

It wasn't fear of rejection that led her to who she was or is now, it is the desire to be approved by the many.

She lived a life of constant poverty. A life of luxury was never in her cards but she reached for it and for that, she will always be remembered.
