Chapter 502: Everyone's Thoughts Before the War (Part 1)
"What are the reactions from the Whitebeard Pirates and the Big Mom Pirates?"
Watching his crew urgently heading to the front lines, Charlotte looked at Carter and asked.
Carter paused in thought for a moment.
"Currently, neither the Whitebeard Pirates nor the Big Mom Pirates have made any moves. On the contrary, they have shrunk their defenses, withdrawing the forces deployed around our waters. It's as if they're just watching a show."
Carter analyzed.
Charlotte gave a bitter smile upon hearing this.
"They're expressing their dissatisfaction with us. They are all just watching the show, waiting until we can't hold on anymore before they make a move, looking for an opportunity to seize our territory."
Charlotte's words made all the surrounding officers of the Rockefeller Pirates frown.
For the past few years, apart from the world-shaking invasion of Impel Down, their Rockefeller Pirates had been developing in a low-key manner. They never started trouble, and Charlotte hadn't even left Camelot Island in years.
Even so, the other two Emperor crews remained incredibly wary of them.
Who told them to occupy the most territory in the New World?
They were situated in the center of the New World, on islands rich with resources.
Every year, they could earn a fortune just by selling resources. Seven-tenths of the transport ships carrying various resources on the sea were related to the Rockefeller Pirates.
This was enough to make anyone green with envy.
Even Whitebeard, who owed Charlotte a favor, was incredibly envious.
As everyone knows, the Whitebeard Pirates are the poorest of the crews, so poor that they need their subordinate crews to support them.
Under these circumstances, everyone wanted to see the Rockefeller Pirates become a laughingstock, to be beaten back by the Marines so they could take a bite out of them.
The ruler of this sea has never been them, the pirates.
It has always been the Marines.
The strength possessed by the Marines was not something any single pirate crew could resist.
Even with Charlotte's decades of accumulation, he still couldn't compare to the Marines' accumulation over several hundred years.
"Be prepared to abandon the islands near the Red Line. Get ready to cut our losses. This is going to be a difficult battle!"
Charlotte sighed.
He was confident he could win this battle, but the losses would undoubtedly be enormous.
The reason for his confidence was that the other great pirates of the New World would never sit by and watch the Rockefeller Pirates be annihilated by the Marines.
To put it another way, the Rockefeller Pirates could die at the hands of other pirates in the New World, but they absolutely could not die at the hands of the Marines.
Resisting the Marines was a common goal for all pirates in the New World.
It was like a pirate code; no matter how intense the conflict between two pirate crews, they had to present a united front when facing the Marines.
These were the rules!
"Damn it!"
Robert and the others clenched their fists upon hearing this.
They were very dissatisfied with the other two pirate crews' clear intention to kick them while they were down.
But there was nothing they could do.
They couldn't possibly start a fight with them first.
"Do you want me to make a move?"
Redfield, holding his umbrella at the side, asked.
Charlotte gave Redfield a deep look, then shook his head.
"You cannot act. If you do, our Rockefeller Pirates will be doomed."
Charlotte said in a deep voice.
They could accept a Rockefeller Pirates with the power of two Emperors, but they would absolutely not allow the emergence of a Rockefeller Pirates with the power of three.
If Redfield were to join this early stage of the war between the Rockefeller Pirates and the Marines, then the Whitebeard Pirates and Big Mom Pirates would absolutely sit back and watch the Rockefeller Pirates get taken out by the Marines.
They might even join forces with the Marines to eliminate the Rockefeller Pirates.
This was something of a tradition among pirates.
The fates of the Roger Pirates and the Rocks Pirates were stark realities in the minds of the older generation.
Coincidentally, Whitebeard, Charlotte Linlin, and Charlotte himself had been spectators back then.
Therefore, Charlotte would absolutely not allow Redfield to intervene.
Redfield fell silent upon hearing this.
Although he really wanted to fight alongside his good friend Charlotte, reality would not permit him to act so recklessly.
"I'll leave Camelot Island to you."
Redfield smiled and said to Charlotte.
He would guard Camelot Island for Charlotte to prevent any petty thieves from causing trouble.
Charlotte smiled back.
"Thanks."
Redfield smiled as well.
The urgent mobilization of the Rockefeller Pirates was also noted by the other pirate crews.
Aboard the Moby Dick of the Whitebeard Pirates.
"Pops, latest update. The Rockefeller Pirates are assembling on a large scale and heading towards the entrance of the New World. It's highly likely they are preparing for the Marines' large-scale operation. What should we do?"
Marco asked, holding the intelligence report.
"What else can we do? Of course, we watch them fight to the death, and then the Whitebeard Pirates will sweep in, take them all out, unify the New World, and Pops will become the Pirate King!"
Before Whitebeard could answer Marco's question, other crew members heard and immediately gathered around Whitebeard, exclaiming.
"Pops, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! The Rockefeller Pirates are the biggest obstacle on our path. As long as the Marines destroy them, we can annex their territory. Then we can deal with the severely weakened Marines. Our Whitebeard Pirates will be number one in the world!"
A young, radical crewmate looked at Whitebeard, his face full of excitement.
In his view, the Marines would definitely be severely weakened after dealing with the Rockefeller Pirates.
At that time, the Whitebeard Pirates could go over, pull off a "mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind" scheme, annex the Rockefeller Pirates' territory, and beat back the Marines in one fell swoop. Then, while the Marines were suffering from heavy losses and unable to manage the New World, they could take out the Big Mom Pirates. The Whitebeard Pirates would then dominate the New World.
They would become the next true Pirate King after Roger.
At that point, things like the One Piece or the Great Treasure would no longer matter.
The Whitebeard Pirates, dominating the New World, would surely become an even more legendary crew than the Roger Pirates.
Whitebeard smiled upon seeing the excited expressions on his crew members' faces.
"Gurarararara! My sons, the strength of the Marines is not as simple as you imagine. Even our White-beard Pirates would find it difficult to face the Marines!"
Whitebeard let out a sigh.
This sigh was one of respect for the Marines, the rulers of this sea, but even more, it was a sigh for the arrogance and ignorance of his sons.
If they just sat and watched the Rockefeller Pirates get destroyed, how much longer could the Whitebeard Pirates survive?
As Edward Newgate, a man who had sailed the seas for decades, he was crystal clear about the power the Marines possessed.
"Pops, what should we do about this?"
Marco had also clearly realized the gravity of the situation. He looked at his father, a hint of worry in his eyes.
"We help. We must help. But not immediately. Don't I owe Rockefeller Charlotte a favor? I'll repay it this time."
