Chapter 6 - Seeking Clarity

Furqon and Zafran walked briskly toward Fortex Intelligence's main laboratory, where Dr. Jarir awaited them. That morning, a mix of curiosity and slight confusion clouded their minds. Following an intense meeting with Gibran from the Multi-Galaxy Division, they felt the need for clearer answers regarding their first mission.

Upon arriving at the laboratory, Dr. Jarir, a senior scientist with a sharp gaze and calm demeanor, greeted them with a brief smile. He noticed the evident doubt on their faces. Without further ado, Dr. Jarir invited them to sit across from him.

"Is there something you'd like to ask?" Dr. Jarir inquired, placing several important documents on the table.

Zafran nodded. "Dr. Jarir, we just met with Gibran from the Multi-Galaxy Division. He informed us about potential anomalies from other dimensions that could impact our mission. Is this first mission truly as straightforward as it appears, or is there more we need to know?"

Dr. Jarir sighed softly, seeming to weigh his response. "I understand your confusion. On the surface, this mission may seem simple, but the situation is far more complex. You must understand that, although the primary goal is to analyze certain historical events, there's always a greater risk, especially concerning other dimensions and potential anomalies."

Furqon looked at Dr. Jarir intently. "Why weren't we informed about these risks from the beginning? What is Fortex Intelligence truly aiming to achieve with this mission?"

Dr. Jarir returned Furqon's gaze calmly. "That's a good question, Furqon. Our main objective isn't just to understand the past but also to anticipate how minor changes can influence the future. However, Fortex Intelligence also views this as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the universe's boundaries and time. You might encounter more than just historical events—perhaps things even we don't fully comprehend yet."

Zafran pondered for a moment before speaking, "Is there something Fortex knows about these anomalies that you haven't shared with us?"

Dr. Jarir looked at them with a deeper expression, hesitating briefly before nodding slowly. "Yes, there is. Reports indicate that over the past few decades, events in our past have experienced slight, unexplained deviations. Some of us at Fortex believe this might be due to cross-dimensional interactions. This is one of the reasons why your mission is so crucial."

Furqon and Zafran exchanged glances, realizing that their mission wasn't merely about exploring the past but also about safeguarding their world's stability from external influences. They understood that this task carried far greater risks than they had anticipated.

Dr. Jarir continued, "You two were chosen not only for your technical skills or strategic prowess but also because you can be relied upon to handle this pressure. Whatever you discover out there, remain focused on the primary objective. And remember, you can always return to Fortex for support. We'll be monitoring you closely."

Furqon nodded, feeling the weight of responsibility grow heavier, but also grasping the importance of their mission. "Thank you, Dr. Jarir. We'll do our best."

With this new information, they left Dr. Jarir with renewed determination. Furqon and Zafran now felt more prepared, yet also more vigilant. They knew this mission would be a significant test—not only of their abilities but also of their beliefs regarding the limits of science and the responsibility of maintaining the balance of time and dimensions.
