A group of Sabertooth Tiger members crowded around Minerva, jeering. Natsu's fist clenched—but Erza's hand on his shoulder stopped him. If they fought here, all their hard work so far would be undone.
At that moment Su Yan's voice rang out coldly:
"Take Lucy back for treatment."
Without another word, the Sabertooth Tiger members fell silent and melted away. Su Yan's gaze followed them—he would make them pay double for this on the final day of the tournament.
Fairy Tail Infirmary
Lucy lay on a treatment table while Wendy and Sherria worked quickly to heal his bruises. Mira, Juvia and the others waited anxiously around him.
"Is he going to be all right?" Juvia asked.
"He will be," Wendy replied. "Sherria's quick thinking saved him."
Mira gently brushed Lucy's hair back. "What an idiot," she murmured. "Even if it cost us the last place today, we're still far ahead."
Lucy managed a weak smile. "I don't want all of our efforts to be ruined because of this…"
"They'll get what's coming to them," Natsu growled. "No one treats our friends like that!"
Laxus folded his arms and nodded at Su Yan. "I thought you'd lose it," he said. "You're not one for following rules."
Su Yan's expression remained calm. "Lucy chose to compete. I respect that."
Suddenly Makarov's voice called from the doorway:
"Everyone from Teams A and B—report to the arena immediately!"
Surprised murmurs filled the infirmary. Makarov explained:
"With Raven Tail disqualified, we have seven teams—an odd number. To stage the final duels, the organizers have merged our two Fairy Tail squads into one and assigned five members to represent us tomorrow."
"Odd-numbered teams? No, they just don't want us to win easily," Carla hissed.
"What about our points?" Lucy asked.
"Team A and B's points are set at 51," Erza read from a notice.
Natsu slammed his fist into his palm. "I'll avenge you, Lucy! Those bastards will pay!"
The New Fairy Tail Lineup
Moments later, through the entrance tunnel strode five figures, greeted by thunderous cheers:
Su Yan, Laxus, Erza, Gajeel, Natsu—the strongest combination Fairy Tail could field.
"The new Fairy Tail Five!"
Their presence alone silenced any doubts in the crowd. Laxus had single-handedly beaten five Raven Tail mages. Erza had wiped out a hundred monsters in the Temple challenge. Su Yan had humbled even the Ten Great Magic Masters.
"Fairy Tail shows its true power!" the announcer declared.
