Chapter 66 - Chapter 66. ‘Alter’

Kim opened his eyes, he once again find himself on Yuriel's back only this time, Yuriel herself is covered in blood.

With a concern and confused look, he asks Yuriel what happen.

"When I came back, I saw your body laying on the ground as a demon was standing there holding on Daima, it tried to lunge at me but I dashed backwards… for some reason, when I equip my gauntlet, he back away and slice opens the… uh I presume dead body? And-"

Kim cuts off Yuriel.

"Where Daima?"

He asked. Yuriel raised her right arms up showing that Daima was already holding her hand.

He breathed in a sigh of relief, all of a sudden a sharp headache hit Kim as he grunts out in pain. He placed his hand on his head gently.

"What is this throbbing pain?" He thought.

Yuriel asks if he was okay.

"Yea I'm fine. What were you going to say before I interrupted you?"

"Oh that, I was going to say that the demon that attacked you guy ran the moment it see me. He ran into the dark maze and I was contemplating whether if I should chase him down but as you can see, you're now on my backs."

"How strange." Kim thought.

"Why does it feel like everything is going by so quickly? Every time I passed out, stuff happen,"

He rubs his head.

"It's almost as if my memory is distorted. Replace or mess around with."

Staring at Yuriel side face, he called out to her.

"This maze, was it difficult to guide through?"

Yuriel nods and sighs.

"Quite difficult, while you were sleeping many monster and lunatic demons tried to attack us and the deeper inside the maze we go, more kept on coming.

"Isn't it hard to beat them while carrying someone?" Kim asks.

"Oh that, I just placed you on the ground."

"Speaking of that, could you put me down? I think I can walk on my own, you however don't look good. You're covered in blood and I can't tell if it's yours or the monster…"

Yuriel let out a giggle before putting Kim down. They wandered through the maze aimlessly, not knowing where to go.

Kim followed behind Daima and Yuriel. Each steps he took felt quiet. He stared at Daima who was holding onto Yuriel's hand tight.

"I think they make up. But what's going on, none of this make sense up to this moment everything was consistent but every since I split from my friends it been going downhill."

Yuriel stops in her tracks as Kim bump into her, he looks at Yuriel to see what's wrong.

"Uh Yuriel?"

Yuriel didn't answer, she points at whatever she was looking at and Kim followed her finger.

In front of them were a town but it been destroyed. Its look like someone already wreaked havoc on the town, all of the buildings have been demolished, corpses scattered everywhere.

"What happen here?"

Yuriel says as she covered Daima's eye.

Kim took a steps toward the town, holding in his quench to vomit. He looks around to see if there's anything.

His jaws drop, eyes widen. He run to a burning building with rubbles on top. Rummaging through the tiny debris's, he saw something that was similar. A horn made of hair, it looked as it was Luc's hair, no it is his hair.

He falls to the ground.

"Luc? W-what happen here?"

Thousand and thousands of thought pile and rushed through his minds, whether it be hope of him and the other surviving or…

The surrounding became dark, it isn't like the same darkness Kim have experienced, it is a different kind of darkness he have ever witnessed. Kim himself didn't realize it as he pondered in his thought.

"N-no, this can't be. Please don't let it be what I think."

He felt a light tap on his right shoulder and when he turned to look, there were nothing, no hand, no arm, nobody.

He lifted his head as he heard a familiar voice.

"Kim…"

Kim looked around but there was only darkness.

"Yuriel? Daima?"

There is no reply… complete silence as Kim hover in the dark void.

"Did I not escape Eras power yet?"

A voice called out to him, it was faint but he could hear it a little.

"Kim it look like the 'star' I'd gave you didn't work. I underestimated how strong the 'sin' power was."

"It's you again?"

Silent filled the void for a moment before there was a respond.

"Yes."

Kim didn't know what to say, he spout out something that kept the conversation going.

"How come it didn't work? I'm still trap in this lucid state dream! I don't know if time is fast forwarding or things is just getting cut out of my memory!"

As before, there wasn't any respond for a few moment.

"Eras has alter your memory, he don't fully have control of it but he is distorting it. Kim, you are still unconscious while everything you had witnessed here is merely from the perspective of your friend, he must've sync the connection to Yuriel by mistake instead of his."

"But why would he want my memory?!"

Kim asks, the darkness seems to be closing in on Kim. He wasn't really sure about it but he could feel a faint pressure crushing him.

"C'mon! Respond, why does he want my memory? Who even are you?"

The voice gracefully answers all of Kim's question, well not fully.

"Your memory's… how can I said. It isn't like anything from this world.

"You could see my memory?"

"No, it's more of I could feel that it's not from this realm, or this world but I don't really know how accurate that is. And about me… it's better to not know what or who I am right now, it might cause you some problem…"

Kim stays quiet, unsure of what he is going to say. Should he tell the told about the truths? No, he didn't know whether to trust the voice, it had helped him before but it didn't exactly work. As Kim thinks to himself, the voice spoke.

"I feeling doubts coming from you, do you not trust me?"

"It's not smart of me to trust something or something I don't know."

"Make sense…"

Kim awkwardly asks the voice why it take a moment for it to respond to him.

"That's because this realm is not compatible for me. Both of the 'hell' isn't, it take a lot of energy to connects mind with someone with no mana."

"… So what now?"

"I find a way to get you out of this distortions. Here take this,"

The void threw something at Kim as he catches it. Kim look at it, a purple glowing star this time is in his hand.

"That star will get you out of this distorted state."

"And why should I believe you, what if it doesn't work like last time?" He said.

Kim waits patiently for the voice to speak.

"See, you're quiet all of the sudden. You yourself don't even know if it work."

"I do know," the voice said.

"Kim, to put it bluntly if you don't trust me, you can stay in this forsaken state forever. Wondering whether what you see or remember is even real. You can stay here until the weight of your own false memory's crushes you… or you could trust my words."

Having heard that, Kim still unsure about the voice words made up his mind.

"Fine! But if this don't work, you own me big time," he raised up the hand that's was holding the star.

"So what do I do with this?"

The voice tells Kim to crush it but before he do, it have something to say.

"Kim, once you get out of this state. For your own sake, look after Luc Mugen, be wary of those that's after him… he is a force to be reckoned with."

With that, Kim automatically crushed the purple glowing star, he wanted to wait and asks the voice to followed up on what it had meant but for some reason, his hand moved on its own.

Crushing the star, it emitted a bright light, it shined and blinded Kim's eyes for a moment before he find himself getting dragged by Daima.

"Daima..?" he called out for his name and when he turned to look at Kim.

Kim saw Daima crying, tears running down his face he as mumbles to himself.

"What do I do?"

"What do you mean?" Kim asks.

Daima cast his eyes toward the coner of his side.

Kim followed to see an injured Yuriel, most of her body's is covered in blood, she was limping as she hold on tightly to her wound's.

"Yo, Kim!" She says with a painful smile.
