(About a year before the main story)
Noir sat in his tower laying on the floor, he was incredibly…. Bored.
"ARGHHHH! Isn't there anything to do!?"
All of Noir's favorite adventures even Kalds seemed to be complete filler today, doing fetch quests and the like.
Noir continued to moan and groan before slowly levitating to his feet and walking over to his bookshelf, he scanned the thing but no books stood out.
"Why is our literature so boring." He complained some more.
Then he paused and rubbed his chin, "Maybe I should become a writer?"
He instantly thought of atleast 20 ideas (all of which were bad) before grinning, "I definitely need to publish one of those some day." He slumped to the ground, but not today.
Just as he was about to give up however he thought back to what he said before.
Why is our literature so boring
Our…
"AHA!"
Noir shot up and quickly ran over to his pile of junk and after digging through it he pulled out a six inch mirror.
A few months prior when Noir had also been bored he began development on a new type of magic, using space magic similar to the type he used to teleport he started to funnel it into a mirror in hopes that he'd be able to create small gateways to other dimensions!
If our literature is no good, I'll find a universe that has something entertaining! He thought.
Noir funneled his magic through the mirror it's glass turned purple and warped into an ominous portal.
Noir grinned, "It worked!"
Let's give it a try. He thought as he plunged his face into the mirror. Unfortunately Noir didn't get what he wanted immediately and had to restart the portal multiple times, along the way seeing some…. Interesting things.
He pulled his face from the mirror again this time an fearsome growl rang out from the other side before the portal closed.
"This… is harder than I thought." Noir said as he wiped a speck of alien saliva off his face.
He let out a sigh, "Okay last try… here it goes."
The portal opened and with a gulp Noir plunged his head in. This time to his relief he wasn't hit by a hellish, frozen, alien, or underwater landscape.
He was in the top corner of what looked like to a room, albeit a very strange room, its interior was rather odd and various devices with screens that Noir did not recognize were scattered about. At first Noir prepared to head out, for maybe it was another Alien room but he paused upon seeing a figure below him in bed.
Noir held his breath as he stared down, the figure in the bed was undeniably… human. Even despite his strange clothes of a T-shirt and weird loose gray pants he was definitely a human. What interested Noir the most though was the book in his hands.
Could that be!?
Noir focused intensely on the book and stopped as he realized along with the words were pictures in fact the pictures seemed to be the main focus with the words in small speech bubbles. Noir watched intently and although he couldn't understand the words even with magic the illustrations were amazing and alone kept his focus.
Time went by quick however for before Noir came to notice the boy had reached the end of the book. He brought it to a close letting Noir see a glimpse of the title and at the same time his portal began to close.
"Not now…" Noir complained before slipping out of the portal as it closed.
The boy sitting in his bed turned back and shrugged, "Guess I'm just hearing things." He said as he went on to the next volume.
Immediately Noir took out a sheet of paper and sketched the title of the book on it, "I'll translate it!" He said proudly. It took over a month but after hours of trial and error, after much sweat, blood, and tears, Noir did it and was left with a single question by the end.
"What the hells a Hunter X Hunter…"
(And thus, Noir's adventure to read more Hunter X Hunter continues…)
