Chapter 23 - Demons and the dimension of Limbo [Part 2]

"Who's next?" Tavor says while staring challengingly into both demons' eyes, his tail lashing from side to side in excitement as he waits for them to make a move.

The two demons surged forth, their demonic natures unable and unwilling to be challenged by what they perceived as a lesser being.

One, adorned with a swirling purple pattern across his scales, drew back his arm, muscles bulging and tendons straining under the effort, while the other, marked by a faint golden-brown wild pattern, swung its tail in a sweeping arc in an attempt to knock Tavor off his feet.

Tavor smiled madly, his Saiyan instincts on full display as he watched the two incoming attacks.

"Let's go!" Tavor barked with sharp intensity, surging forward in a burst of motion.

His foot shot out in a precise strike to block the whipping tail, even as his palm swept upward with unwavering focus to catch and deflect the oncoming punch, his movements a seamless blend of speed, strength, and determination.

POW!

SLAP!

Tavor's foot collided with the brown dragon demon and sent the creature sliding backwards while his palm caught the incoming fist, stopping it in its tracks.

"Wh..."

The demon attempted to speak, but before it could finish a word, Tavor pulled the demon close, his other fist pulled back as far as possible; the muscles on Tavor's arm expanded while thick, pulsating veins became visible, and with a fierce look on his face, he sent the fist towards its target.

"Run... I must escape... this child is a monster!" the demon thought frantically as he watched the nearly imperceptible blur of a fist hurtling toward his chest. Yet, despite his desperate struggles, he found himself unable to break free from the unyielding grip of the child.

PUCHI!

Tavor's strike connected with precision against the brown-marked demon's chest, the force causing its body to collapse inward around his fist.

In the same instant, a gaping, fist-sized cavity tore through the demon's torso, revealing, through the wound, the furious gaze of the brown-marked demon staring from the opposite side.

The brown-marked demon was propelled backward, leaving a trail of dark, scorching, infernal blood pouring from the gaping wound in his chest.

His flight ended abruptly upon colliding with the purple-marked demon, who extended a hand to grasp his comrade's head.

The sudden cessation of momentum contorted the brown-marked demon's body unnaturally in the opposite direction, accompanied by the faint yet unmistakable sound of bones wrenching out of place.

Moments later, after a series of spasms that intensified until foam spilled from the corner of his mouth, he went limp, the frenzied, hellish light in his eyes fading into shadow.

THUD!

The purple-marked demon dropped its companion like one would drop refuse, the brown-marked demon's limp body landing with a dull but wet impact as a pool of dark blood formed beneath him.

Tavor, who witnessed this, stared at the corpse on the ground, his battle lust cooling into something darker.

"This... This was his companion, and he just..." Tavor gritted his teeth and closed his eyes, not knowing that just as he did so, a faint, white aura began to appear around him.

FWOOSH!

The dust, dirt, and air surged outwards as his aura displaced it all, but this did not last; soon the aura faded, and Tavor began to look up, a much darker emotion visible in his once bright eyes.

"I don't like you!" Tavor's expression solidified into an unyielding mask; a transformation rendered all the more unnerving by the contrast with his still childlike features.

In an instant, accompanied by the rush of displaced air and the violent fracture of the ground beneath him, Tavor propelled himself forward toward the purple-marked demon, his leg fully extended in a precise and forceful strike aimed at the demon's abdomen.

POW!

The purple-marked demon registered the resounding impact and lowered his gaze to see a foot driven nearly into his body; the draconic scales, those defensive yet ornamental layers of natural armor inherent to all demon dragons, were strewn across the ground, fractured and splintered in a brutal testament to overwhelming physical dominance.

Before the demon could so much as expel a mouthful of blood, Tavor's small hand shot upward, seizing one of its horns in a firm grip, and with a sudden, unyielding force, he drove the creature headfirst into the ground, the impact so immense that the fractured surface bore a clear imprint of its face.

The cracks and the impression slowly filled with the dark, viscous blood of the demon, and Tavor slowly straightened to his full height once again.

His gaze shifted toward the largest among them, the unmistakable leader, who had silently observed the entirety of the confrontation.

The demonic creature's narrow, slitted eyes locked unerringly on Tavor, its unblinking intensity conveying a meticulous assessment, as though weighing the value and challenge of its next intended prey.

"Oh? Do you think you won?" The leading demon looked over to the fallen comrade, who had a hole punched through his chest, and as if on cue, the demon began to rise to his feet, the hole in his chest becoming visible once more to Tavor.

"What... What? That's impossible!" he exclaimed, as he observed the flesh surrounding the fist-shaped cavity in the demon's chest begin to stretch, bend, and mold itself with uncanny precision.

The tissues knit together seamlessly, erasing any trace of the grievous, life-ending wound that had existed mere moments earlier.

His eyes narrowed into pinpoints, reflecting a mixture of disbelief and growing apprehension at the sight before him.

The demon leader emitted a harsh, rasping laugh that seemed to make Tavor's ears crawl with discomfort.

In response, Tavor turned back toward the imposing figure, his expression a blend of fury and inquiry.

After finally suppressing his grating laughter, the demonic leader fixed his gaze upon Tavor and curved his lips into a menacing, grotesque grin, one so hideous it could shatter mirrors and make babies weep.

"This is the demonic dimension of Limbo, boy," he said with a chilling chuckle. "Do you understand what it means to possess an entire realm?"

Tavor's brows knitted together as he attempted to envision such a concept, yet his youthful mind could conjure nothing remotely profound.

The purple-marked demon slowly pushed himself upright.

Tavor's eyes widened.

The massive crack and indentation in the demon's skull were still visible for only a moment before the flesh and bone around it began to move.

Muscle fibers crawled toward one another, the torn tissue fused, and the bone reconstructed beneath the surface.

Then the scales returned.

One after another, dark purple scales formed over the newly restored flesh until the wound disappeared beneath a fresh layer of natural armor.

The demon rolled his shoulders.

CRACK.

His previously damaged neck snapped back into alignment before he looked down at himself, then slowly raised his ferocious eyes toward Tavor and licked his scaled lips.

Tavor's ears flinched, and he turned his head to see the orange-patterned demon dragon approaching him from behind, the three demons effectively forming a triangle around Tavor.

"GET HIM, TEAR HIM APART!" With a sharp, commanding bark, the demonic leader signaled the attack, prompting the three subordinate demons to hurl themselves toward Tavor in a coordinated and ferocious assault.

"Bring it on!" Tavor shouted before propelling himself forward in a sudden burst of motion.

His gaze ignited with fierce battle-lust as he closed the distance to the brown-patterned demon, his compact frame twisting mid-air with precision.

In one fluid motion, he drove a devastating knee into the demon's forehead, using the force of the impact to vault away, springing off his foe as if from a coiled platform and launching himself upwards.

The purple and orange demons unfurled their massive wings, launching themselves into the sky in fierce pursuit.

Their claws gleamed, and fangs flashed menacingly as they closed in, eyes blazing with predatory intent.

Tavor, however, remained composed, executing a controlled flip through the air until his leg arced high above his head, evoking the image of an axe poised to strike a defenseless neck, before the pull of gravity initiated his inevitable descent.

Upon witnessing the development, the purple demon swiftly veered to the side with a powerful beat of his wings.

In stark contrast, the orange demon chose not to evade but instead surged forward with heightened velocity, his form dissolving into a barely perceptible blur as he closed the distance toward Tavor, exuding a palpable aura of lethal intent.

Tavor met the unyielding gaze of the orange demon, the mutual fervor of their battle-lust seeming to set the air itself ablaze between them.

With perfect synchronicity, warrior and demon unleashed a resounding, defiant roar, each channeling the full force of their will into a simultaneous and relentless onslaught.

The two warriors collided.

Tavor descended first; his leg rose high above his head, his body twisting as gravity pulled him downward.

The orange-marked demon looked up.

Its eyes widened, but it was too late to do anything else.

"HAAAAAAAA!"

BOOOOOOM!

Tavor's axe kick crashed into the demon's shoulder, directly beside its thick neck.

The impact was monstrous.

The dark scales beneath Tavor's heel buckled inward, several cracking apart under the force before the dense demonic flesh beneath them visibly concaved around the point of impact.

The demon's shoulder dipped violently, and a burst of dark blood sprayed from between the shattered scales.

Tavor's eyes flashed with triumph.

"Got you!"

But the demon refused to yield, its body twisted with the impact, and its right arm drew backward.

Tavor's grin morphed into a flash of bared white teeth as he saw that the demon's counterattack was already coming.

WHAM!

The punch struck Tavor squarely in the sternum.

The impact drove straight through his tiny frame.

His lungs emptied instantly.

"HKH!"

No breath came.

Tavor's eyes widened as the force of the blow launched him backward.

At the same moment, the orange demon was thrown downward by Tavor's axe kick, and for a heartbeat, both combatants were suspended in the air.

Then gravity claimed them.

The demon plummeted first, with Tavor following immediately after.

Neither had recovered from the other's attack.

Their bodies tore through the crimson sky.

Tavor clutched at his chest, his face twisting as he desperately tried to draw air back into his lungs.

"Can't... breathe..." He attempted to clutch his sternum but his body refused to cooperate.

The orange demon descended beside him, one shoulder visibly mangled beneath the crushed scales.

Yet its fiery eyes remained focused.

Even injured, it was smiling.

Tavor noticed, and his expression hardened.

"He's waiting for me to tire..."

The demon twisted its body in midair.

Tavor did the same.

They continued their descent toward the rapidly approaching ground; below them, jagged stone formations waited like enormous teeth.

The demon pulled its damaged shoulder backward.

Tavor clenched his fists.

Neither warrior looked away from the other, then both vanished downward in a blur.

KRAAAAAAASH!

The impact had carved a deep depression into the ground, and for several seconds, nothing moved.

A thick cloud of crimson dust and shattered stone hung over the battlefield, obscuring both combatants completely.

Then...

BOOM!

The cloud erupted outward, and two figures tore through the dust at the exact same moment.

Tavor and the orange-marked demon launched toward one another with enough speed to distort the air around their bodies.

Their eyes locked, but neither slowed, nor did either attempt to evade.

They wanted the collision.

BOOOOOOM!

Both fighters swung at the same time.

Tavor's fist connected with the demon's jaw, and the demon's fist connected with Tavor's cheek.

The simultaneous impact sent both of them spinning backward through the air.

Tavor's body rotated once.

Twice.

His tail lashed wildly as he fought to regain his balance.

Across from him, the orange demon twisted through the air, blood spraying from the corner of its mouth.

For a brief moment...

They stared at one another.

Then both grinned.

"Hahaha!"

The orange demon wiped the blood from its lip.

"You hit hard, little warrior."

Tavor rubbed his slightly swollen cheek.

"So do you!"

They vanished.

FWIP!

The distance between them disappeared instantly.

Tavor drove forward with a straight punch.

The orange demon slipped beneath it.

Tavor twisted his waist.

WHAM!

His elbow smashed into the demon's ribs.

The demon grunted, grabbed Tavor's wrist, and attempted to wrench him off balance, but Tavor rotated with the motion instead of resisting.

His tail whipped around.

CRACK!

The tail struck the demon across the face.

The orange demon staggered, and Tavor surged after him.

BANG!

A punch struck his abdomen.

THOOM!

A knee crashed into his chest.

The demon responded with a vicious claw swipe, but Tavor leaned backward, the claws passing mere inches from his face.

He immediately stepped back in.

POW!

Their fists collided.

The resulting shockwave blasted dust away from them in a perfect ring.

Neither yielded, neither gave ground.

The two warriors exchanged blows so quickly that their movements became difficult to follow.

Punch.

Kick.

Elbow.

Knee.

Claw.

Tail.

Each clash reverberated across the battlefield, sending shockwaves through the air.

The orange demon's wounded shoulder was already mending, scales weaving seamlessly over the torn flesh with unnerving speed.

Observing this, Tavor's expression hardened, the grim realization settling over him that victory in this confrontation might be beyond his grasp.

Their fists collided again.

BOOOOOOM!

The shockwave tore apart several nearby trees, and Tavor was launched backward.

Before he could stabilize himself, the demon was already there.

WHAM!

A knee drove into Tavor's stomach, causing the young Saiyan to double over.

The demon pulled his fist back.

"Got you!"

Before the punch could land...

FWIP!

Tavor vanished.

The demon's fist struck empty air.

Tavor reappeared behind him.

"Actually..."

BOOM!

A kick slammed into the back of the demon's knee.

The orange demon dropped several inches.

Tavor followed with a hammerfist.

CRACK!

The demon's head snapped sharply downward, yet before Tavor could capitalize on the fleeting advantage, a sudden streak of violet cut across the periphery of his vision.

His gaze shifted instinctively toward the intrusion, and his eyes widened in sudden, startled recognition.

SLASH!

He twisted sideways.

The purple-marked demon's claws skimmed across his back, slicing through his shirt and leaving three shallow cuts across his skin.

Tavor landed several yards away.

"What?!"

The brown-marked demon descended from above, its wings snapped inward, and both hands locked together.

"TAKE THIS!"

BOOOOOOM!

A hammering double-fist crashed down toward Tavor, but he leaped backward.

The attack missed him by inches and smashed into the ground, sending chunks of stone flying.

Tavor barely had time to recover before the orange demon appeared directly in front of him.

WHAM!
