After both sides calmly answered the second question.
The third truly "sensitive" issue arrived.
Immigration.
As soon as this topic was thrown out, the originally rational and serious atmosphere on stage began to shift.
Trump waved his hand, speaking in a forceful tone: "I believe the U.S. should continue strengthening border controls. My plan is to build a 'Border Wall' along the U.S.-Mexico border—this can effectively stop illegal immigrants from sneaking into the country."
He added: "If the U.S. keeps opening its borders, it will bring disaster to this nation. First, the crime issue—criminals and drugs entering illegally from the border threaten our national security. Second, the jobs issue—illegal immigrants bring cheap labor, causing American workers to lose jobs nonstop. Our employment problems are already severe; this is something we must consider to 'Make America Great Again'..."
"Finally, I believe that without borders, there is no country. The U.S. must deport illegal immigrants."
"Trump's not bad at this?!" Sofia said, a bit surprised.
"He's definitely improved his speaking skills," Martin nodded.
Hillary immediately countered, stating: "There are currently about 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Even without status, they're still contributing to the country. If I become president, I'll create a comprehensive, simpler immigration registration plan and incorporate new technologies and measures to help these immigrants integrate better into society."
Then Hillary directly attacked Trump's remarks: "Trump's plan isn't patriotic at all—it's dividing the nation."
Facing Hillary's criticism, Trump pursed his lips and shrugged, clearly showing disdain.
Hillary continued: "Trump's policy means the U.S. would have to spend massive energy and money to enforce deportations. I know how he'd do it—he'd stuff everyone into trains and buses to send them away, tearing our country apart."
She added sarcastically: "When Trump met with the Mexican president, he didn't mention the wall at all."
At this point, the debate grew intense.
Trump began rebutting Hillary's words, claiming her tolerance toward illegal immigrants was just to let domestic bloodsucking factory owners get more cheap labor—she didn't care about unemployed American workers at all.
Hillary, in turn, called Trump the second coming of Hitler, saying his violent deportation policy toward immigrants was like the Nazis deporting Jews.
As they spoke, Hillary suddenly realized she was on the back foot. Her aides below the stage signaled a reminder—clearly, online sentiment was turning against her.
Evidently, American citizens had no fondness for those illegal immigrants stealing their jobs; they hoped the government would decisively deport them.
Interestingly, in subsequent polls, the Jewish community wasn't particularly offended by Hillary comparing Trump to the second coming of Hitler either—they similarly felt Trump's violent deportation policy was fine, since they were preparing to do the same in Gaza.
Sensing things weren't right, Hillary once again resorted to changing the subject—shifting the topic to WikiLeaks revelations and "Russia interfering in the U.S. election."
"Trump is Putin's puppet," Hillary bluntly accused. "He's Russia's mouthpiece planted among us."
Hillary wore an indignant expression, waving her arms to emphasize her tone: "Russia's espionage activities strongly support WikiLeaks and others who are personally backing Trump. Everything Trump is doing now is what Putin wants him to do. Russia wants Trump to become president so they can influence our country more deeply and directly."
Because he had a plan in advance, Trump didn't show overly dramatic emotional changes in response to Hillary's accusations.
He first denied the claims, emphasizing that he "doesn't know Putin at all."
Then he mocked Hillary: "Hillary is always putting others down, but in a series of events in the Middle East and elsewhere, Putin has proven superior in every aspect to Hillary and the current government leaders."
Hillary immediately sneered: "See? See? He's blatantly defending Putin like that. Everyone knows Trump is Putin's superfan."
But Trump loudly interrupted Hillary, saying disdainfully: "I just know how to acknowledge others' strengths—unlike some people who can only stand out by putting others down."
The argument between them grew fierce.
Moderator Wallace had to interrupt their mutual personal attacks multiple times, steering the debate toward economic topics.
Wallace asked both sides: "Ms. Hillary, Mr. Trump, how will you bring more job opportunities to the U.S.?"
Trump: "Tax cuts—massive tax cuts. Cutting taxes for bosses will let them expand production more easily, indirectly boosting employment."
Hillary: "Increasing investments will help economic growth—investing in infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, clean energy industries to create more jobs for society. We should also strengthen high school vocational education and reduce student debt."
Trump interrupted Hillary again.
He scoffed: "Ms. Hillary's previous statements weren't like this—she's quoting Sanders' ideas."
This was a point of criticism against Hillary: after Sanders announced his withdrawal, to woo his supporters, she had incorporated many of Sanders' ideas into her own platform—many of which contradicted her previous stances.
After mocking Hillary, Trump didn't wait for her to respond and added: "I also believe we should increase financial pressure on our overseas and domestic allies, like Japan, South Korea, NATO countries, Saudi Arabia—they need to shoulder corresponding military costs. And on trade, we should toughen up to give our domestic products a competitive edge."
Hillary also switched to sarcasm mode: "Mr. Trump's tough stance on trade is just 'crocodile tears'.
Then Hillary reiterated her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in international trade, promising to continue opposing the agreement if elected.
Trump immediately said: "Hillary talks a good game, but she's all talk no action. In her thirty years as a public servant, she hasn't implemented the trade policies she promises."
Then the two fell into another fierce argument.
The moderator had to interrupt them once more.
