The blood tendrils rushed towards the incoming Shinobi; the long, thin tendrils gave off an ominous look as the light reflected off them, giving them a sinister, dark red shine.
Ryuu dodged the first incoming tendrils and kept weaving and dodging as multiple others came after them.
But as he neared the cult leader, the speed and intensity of the attacks increased to the point where Ryuu had to open his Sharingan to assist him.
As he continued to dodge and weave, he glanced at Phoenix just behind him, having a hard time. But he also witnessed the blood tendrils that went past him stop after reaching about 10 meters away from the cult leader before retracting and being sent towards Team Shi again.
As Ryuu was about to reach strike distance with his katana, the blood tendrils were all pulled back and rushed towards Ryuu and only Ryuu, widening his eyes beneath his mask.
Ryuu immediately ducked down and to the side before jumping back and away from the cult leader.
Phoenix, too, was forced to jump back, as she was directly behind Ryuu.
"Phoenix, don't get hit by those tendrils," Ryuu said with a deep voice, surprising Phoenix, who gave him a side glance.
Her eyes widened slightly beneath her mask as she saw a shallow cut on Ryuu's arm. The cut had a bubbling red chakra surrounding it. A second later, a bit of blood was pushed out of the cut, which healed instantly.
Ryuu breathes out as Kurumi's chakra returns to her. One of the tendrils had nicked him as he dodged them. Not only was the blood used as a weapon, but it seems to have also other malicious effects.
As Ryuu jumped away a moment ago, he felt like he had been poisoned with a toxic and paralyzing agent; not only that, but he also felt his blood acting strangely. Ryuu didn't wait to find out, as his own healing factor and vitality, assisted by Kurumi's chakra, kicked in to push the foreign blood out of his body.
"Fascinating," The cult leader said as he looked at Ryuu as if he was looking at something exotic.
"Very fascinating. You weren't phased by that when others were on their knees by now. I didn't even get the chance to control your blood. Whatever you did even severed my connection with the blood that entered your body." The cult leader said, surprising Team Shi, especially Phoenix, who paled slightly under her mask as she glanced again at the drop of blood that flowed down Ryuu's arm and onto the ground.
What she just heard was frightening and horrifying. If one gets nicked, does that mean it's over?
She knew Ryuu's chakra and body were special, but what about the rest of them? If she gets nicked or injured by those blood tendrils, does she lose control over her body? Could the cult leader control her through her blood? Could he just siphon her blood out of her body for him to use?
Thought after thought appeared in Phoenix's mind, but none of them were good.
"Entertain me more, mortal. Sacrificing you would please Jashin-sama very much." The cult leader said while grinning madly. His tendrils were about to finish putting his priest back together.
Ryuu just looked at the cult leader before sheathing his Katana and started to weave hand signs.
You can't just use blood against an experienced doctor and a medical ninja, while expecting him not to know every property about blood.
Raiton: Chidori Eisō (Lightning release: Chidori sharp spear)
The sound of a hawk's screech or a thousand birds appeared as lightning danced around Ryuu's hand.
Ryuu then pointed his hands towards the cult leader before a spear made of pure lightning formed from Ryuu's hand, and in the blink of an eye, was embedded deep in the cult leader's chest while still connected to Ryuu's hand.
The cult leader opened his mouth in a silent scream as lightning coursed through his body, making him shake and spasm uncontrollably. Lightning also traveled through the red tendrils, shocking everything it touched before going out of control, losing shape, and splattering on the ground.
That also meant that the tendrils that were about to put the priest back together had returned to liquid form, keeping the head and body separated while also shocking the decapitated but still alive priest.
Blood is conductive to the lightning chakra. Making blood a two-edged weapon for the cult leader.
Ryuu could also have used water release to see if the water would dilute the blood. But that wasn't guaranteed, as Ryuu doesn't know how well the cult leader can control the blood tendrils, as he may be able to keep the tendril together even submerged in water. There was also the possibility that the cult leader could control the water, as the plasma in the blood mostly consists of water. Also, Ryuu could just flood a confined space like where he is now.
"Y…o.U in..s.Ol..E.nt m..O.r.t.al." The cult leader mouthed out while looking directly at Ryuu as his body shook from the lightning coursing through him.
As a matter of fact, he didn't look to be in pain; if anything, he seemed to be furious, as the look in his eyes screamed bloody murder. He seemed to be livid that he couldn't control his body or the blood surrounding him, seemingly not minding the fact that there was a spear made of pure lightning going through his chest, right where his heart should be.
Ryuu looked at the uncontrollably twitching and spasming cult leader while maintaining the Chidori spear. The continuous stream of lightning chakra has caused steam to rise from the cult leader and the surrounding blood and bodies, along with the smell of burned flesh that was increasing.
Ryuu's mind raced with thoughts on how to deal with his opponent before turning to Phoenix and saying.
"Phoenix," Ryuu called, making her look towards him.
"Be ready to disable him the moment I drop the jutsu. We will have a few seconds," Ryuu said as his free hand reached into one of his pouches, while Phoenix nodded.
