Chapter 564 - Chapter 564: Magneto's Wariness

Rogue had been in Wakanda for quite some time. Her superpowers had not been effectively controlled by Apocalypse's power enhancement; instead, they had evolved into the ability to absorb from a distance.

Much like Leech, she could control her absorption ability to drain the power of anyone within ten meters of her, and even ordinary people could be completely drained. This significantly increased the lethality of her ability.

Unfortunately, this was not what Rogue wanted. To be honest, as a young American girl of seventeen or eighteen, she had no pursuit of power and only felt disgust for this ability that would drain others upon contact.

In fact, if Leech were still that little American boy from the movies, the two of them might have made a good pair; after all, the age difference was only eight or nine years.

Unfortunately, the current little Leech didn't look human at all, missing out on such an opportunity. Of course, it was hard to say; who knew what the outcome would be in the future?

Shin stood there observing the strength of the Mutants who had come to welcome them, while his mind wandered. Wanda, on the other hand, was very happy. After all, she was also a member of the Mutants, and her younger brother, Quicksilver, had now more or less joined the Brotherhood. Seeing the Mutants grow stronger, she was naturally quite pleased.

"Is this also a new mutant member?" Magneto looked at Shin and Scarlet Witch, who were staying far away from Leech, a hint of dissatisfaction appearing on his face. No matter how many bad things Magneto had done, his feelings for Mutants were indeed genuine.

With his personality, he naturally opposed discrimination within the mutant community. It was hard to say about Shin, but seeing his own daughter also staying far away from a deformed mutant, he was naturally somewhat displeased.

Relying on his vibranium armor, Magneto flew unhurriedly toward Leech. Seeing this, Leech hurriedly tried to retreat in panic.

Magneto spoke with a peaceful expression, "Child, don't worry. This is the home of Mutants; no one will discriminate... Ouch!"

Magneto, who was posing while flying in mid-air, suddenly felt the magnetic force he controlled as easily as his own fingers vanish completely. He immediately fell from the sky.

"Dad!" Quicksilver cried out in surprise and reacted instantly, running over at godspeed to catch Magneto. Then, he suddenly felt his superhuman speed rapidly vanish, leaving only his physical strength.

The sudden deceleration made it impossible for Quicksilver to maintain his balance. Not only did he fail to catch Magneto, but he also rolled over like a rolling gourd, crashing right into Magneto, who had fallen to the ground.

Fortunately, Magneto wasn't flying high, and the iron armor he wore was made of vibranium, a metal that could absorb kinetic energy. If it had been ordinary metal, Magneto would have ended up with broken bones and a bloody head, even if he didn't get flattened into a meat patty instantly.

As for Quicksilver, the emergency braking at high speed caused him to land face-first, even dragging along the ground for two or three meters.

"What... happened?" Magneto, a bit dazed and winded from the fall, looked up and glanced around, seeing Leech, who was still nervously retreating.

It wasn't until Leech had retreated beyond the ten-meter range that Magneto felt his abilities fully recover.

On the other hand, Wanda walked over to Quicksilver's side, suppressing a laugh. "Brother, are you okay?"

Quicksilver waved his hand, signaling Wanda to go away, and spoke gloomily. "I'm fine... just a little fall. Maybe it's because I haven't run for a long time and I'm a bit out of practice?"

"No, it's not that you're out of practice. Jimmy's ability is to nullify superpowers. As long as you're within ten meters of him, no superpowers can be used; only pure physical attributes remain," Wanda quickly explained to her brother.

In reality, if your power was strong enough, you could certainly exercise some strength within Leech's nullifying field, just like Mr. M. But clearly, neither Magneto nor Quicksilver had that ability, and even Apocalypse didn't qualify; otherwise, he wouldn't have been caught by humans.

"I see!" Quicksilver then looked up, patted his clothes, and quickly stood up. Since it wasn't his own mistake, Quicksilver naturally had nothing to be embarrassed about.

If a normal person had dragged for two or three meters, their face would have been shredded. However, to adapt to his super speed, Quicksilver's physical toughness had evolved to be very high, and physical toughness was the only ability not affected by Leech. So, although he landed face-first and dragged for two or three meters, he wasn't completely disfigured; he just had many bloodstains on his face and was covered in dust.

As for Magneto, he was pinned to the ground by his heavy vibranium armor. If Leech hadn't retreated, he might not have even been able to crawl up. After all, he was in his sixties or seventies. A mutant's body, even if slightly stronger than a normal person's, isn't that much stronger.

Now standing up, after hearing Wanda's words, Magneto's gaze toward Leech had become somewhat strange, even faintly revealing a hint of killing intent.

This was quite simple: most superpower users, when faced with Leech who could counter their abilities, would have the same initial thought: This child is terrifyingly powerful and must not be allowed to live!

Even among Superheroes, most would probably have thought of this; it was just that their moral compass wouldn't allow them to do such a thing. Let alone Magneto, who was a villain.

"Erik!" Just then, Magneto heard a thin, gentle voice in his ear. He immediately frowned and restrained the killing intent he had emitted due to a momentary impulse.

The bald old professor, who had also come to Wakanda, had been entangled with Magneto as both enemy and friend for a lifetime. It could be said he knew him to the bone. One look at Magneto's expression and he knew what he was thinking. He controlled his wheelchair with a very serious expression and came to Magneto's side.

"He is our fellow mutant! Erik!"

"I understand!" Magneto swept his cape. "If he weren't our fellow mutant, I would have acted already."

Thinking about it carefully, Magneto didn't feel that Leech was much of a threat. The ten-meter range was simply too small. If used in a sneak attack, it might have some effect—for instance, that's how Apocalypse was tricked.

But in front of a mutant who was already on guard, it could be said to be completely useless. Unless it was someone like Wolverine who relied on close combat; otherwise, for Magneto, the threat was actually very small.

Not to mention anything else, in terms of actual lethality and combat power, Rogue was much stronger than this Leech.
