As the bamboo raft continuously moved deeper into the sewer system, the drain behind them shrank to a tiny point of light, and the dense stench of murky sewage shot straight up their nostrils.
Parker covered his nose, his expression indecipherable in the darkness, while Chen Ke also found it unbearable and coughed dryly a couple of times.
"We're almost there," Jack said.
Jack steered the raft close to the left wall, then laid the long pole flat, tossed it onto the nearby steps, and lightly leapt onto a platform on the left.
Chen Ke was amazed at how Jack moved effortlessly in the dark as if he had the eyes of a cat. After Jack got up, he struck a match, and suddenly, the pitch-black sewer brightened a bit.
"Watch your step, don't fall into the filthy water," Jack said with a chuckle.
Chen Ke and Parker also stepped onto the platform as Jack secured the bamboo raft to the shore with a rope. By this time, the match had gone out.
