Hei Gu led the way down into the basement, with Jiang Xiaobai following closely behind. The passage wasn't long, and they soon found themselves in a spacious underground area.
"This place is pretty big," Jiang Xiaobai remarked.
Hei Gu said, "We'll be much safer if we hide here."
Jiang Xiaobai asked, "You seem to know there was a basement here. How did you know?"
Hei Gu said, "I've done some research on the Loma Ancient Road and once read about the architectural features of buildings from its peak period. From the remnants of this house, it seems it used to be an inn. Inns from that time all had basements, so it's quite lucky for us that the basement is relatively well-preserved."
Jiang Xiaobai said, "I can tell this place is very spacious, and it seems like no one's been here for many years. I wonder if there's anything inside."
"Let's split up and search," Hei Gu said. "We've got nothing better to do anyway."
The two of them split up to begin their search.
