A fire lit the bottom of the door, starting to eat away at it. Thick black smoke making the air unbreathable.
Gabrielle and Josephine began coughing, covering their mouths with the sleeves of their dresses.
Their eyes widened, the smoke making them turn red and water. They backed away from the door, seeing the flames consuming the door, starting to eat away at the room.
Heat generated throughout the room, their foreheads glistened with sweat.
They exchanged looks at each other holding onto each other's hand.
Crunch, crunch
Josephine looked down seeing glass crunch underneath their feet. She looked over at the broken window, rushing over to it.
She looked out the window, seeing a ten foot drop to the ground. She looked back at Gabrielle, them both nodding at one another, agreeing on a plan that was not spoken.
Josephine ran over to the chair by the vanity, pushing past the smoke, she grabbed hold of it, her hands burning bright red from the heated metal.
