A single Toxic Orb is considered an invaluable treasure. For Poison-type Pokémon, the worth of a Toxic Orb is extraordinary and immeasurable.
Surprisingly, there were not just one but multiple Toxic Orbs present. With the aid of the flame's light, Bobby spotted several purple Toxic Orbs scattered in the corner. At a glance, he counted at least three.
"More than one?" Kalia clearly didn't have Bobby's keen eyesight and hadn't noticed the additional Toxic Orbs in the corner.
However, upon hearing Uncle Bobby's words, Kalia realized that the abundant toxic fumes in Mushroom Forest must be emanating from these Toxic Orbs. No wonder it nurtured such a multitude of Poison-type Pokémon.
If not for Vileplume guarding these Toxic Orbs, other Pokémon outside would likely have rushed in to snatch them, indicating that Vileplume must possess formidable strength, deterring any potential intruders.
While Kalia and Uncle Bobby discussed, Lian had already engaged in intense combat with Vileplume.
An Air Slash struck directly onto Vileplume's body, yet it seemed to cause minimal damage; the Pokémon only retreated a single step before effortlessly unleashing a powerful Petal Blizzard move.
"It didn't cause flinching?" Lian was somewhat surprised, realizing that this Vileplume's strength exceeded his expectations. The Air Slash he used had already reached its maximum potential and was unleashed unexpectedly from the darkness, possessing significant suddenness.
Despite not causing flinching, the Air Slash should have inflicted notable damage. Vileplume likely relied on its high level advantage to withstand the impact of Air Slash effectively.
The flying type's effectiveness against Grass-type moves is no joke. Regardless of how high Vileplume's level might be, Lian doubted it could endure three consecutive Air Slashes without succumbing.
Moreover, Lian remained unscathed thus far, aided by Ninetales' Safeguard move. This rendered him immune to Vileplume's various powder attacks, significantly diminishing the Vileplume's capabilities.
Another Petal Blizzard attack was launched, with numerous glowing petals hurtling towards him.
Lian promptly responded with a Flamethrower, countering the Petal Blizzard. However, some petals still landed, creating powerful impacts and leaving small craters in the ground.
Impressive force.
Lian momentarily felt astonished but quickly shrugged it off, knowing that Grass-type moves only dealt one-quarter damage to him, greatly reducing their effectiveness when hitting directly.
Realizing Flamethrower wasn't effective against Petal Blizzard, it felt somewhat disadvantageous. It might have been better to endure the attack and sustain minor damage instead. Vileplume would undoubtedly suffer more from Lian's Flamethrower.
Lian unleashed another Air Slash, sending an invisible air blade directly towards Vileplume. However, as if anticipating this move, Vileplume prepared to dodge the incoming Air Slash.
Simultaneously, Lian noticed a glow emerging from the ground, followed by clusters of small green grass sprouting like a spreading spider web, quickly covering the entire area.
Grassy Terrain?
Vileplume unexpectedly knew this field-type move, but it seemed rather useless. Grassy Terrain primarily enhances Grass-type moves' effectiveness and occasionally heals Pokemon, albeit with minimal impact.
As Grassy Terrain took effect, Vileplume failed to evade Lian's Air Slash, highlighting that his 20% Flying Control Rating was not easily achieved.
The Air Cutter struck Vileplume, forcing it back and leaving a massive wound on its floral head. Despite this, Vileplume remained combat-ready, surprisingly enduring the blow.
What a significant loss.
Lian felt somewhat regretful, wishing he hadn't cleared out the other Pokémon earlier. This formidable Vileplume must have had a high level and consequently, substantial stamina.
If only he could use the combat rating on it now, it would've been immensely beneficial. Unfortunately, there was no turning back, and realistically, not clearing those Pokémon beforehand seemed impossible since Lian didn't anticipate this situation and had already utilized his combat rating.
As Vileplume endured Lian's Air Slash, it unleashed Petal Blizzard; however, instead of targeting Lian, it directed the attack upwards.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Countless petals acted like powerful bullets, striking the temple's ceiling repeatedly. The force shattered the roof, revealing the outside sky.
What is it trying to do? Lian wondered, puzzled that the Pokémon chose to destroy the ceiling rather than attacking him directly. Was it merely to let sunlight stream in?
To Lian's surprise, after the roof crumbled, sunlight indeed began filtering through. Despite the absence of mushrooms and trees near the ruins, although limited, some rays managed to penetrate inside.
At that moment, Vileplume's body suddenly began to glow, and even its injured areas emitted light. A powerful healing force gradually restored its wounds.
Moonlight? Lian was speechless. The Vileplume had performed all those flashy moves just to utilize Moonlight. This move undoubtedly replenished much of its stamina, swiftly recovering from the damage caused by Air Slash.
"Sandslash, attack Vileplume," Uncle Bobby commanded. After the ceiling broke, countless rocks fell down. While evading, he signaled Sandslash to join the battle.
This Vileplume was exceptionally strong, and he feared Charizard might not be able to defeat it alone.
Ninetales lifted its nine long tails, shielding Kalia from being hit by falling debris. For Ninetales, these stones posed no significant threat as they descended.
Witnessing Vileplume using Moonlight pained Lian further, thinking how valuable Combat Points would have been instead. He channeled his anguish into determination, preparing for an all-out assault.
It's time to end this fight quickly; prolonging it will only intensify my sorrow.
Vileplume's Level was undoubtedly very high, likely having survived for a long time. Its moves were executed swiftly; within moments, it had used Grassy Terrain, Petal Blizzard, and Moonlight.
Now, Vileplume unleashed another Petal Blizzard aimed directly at Lian. Countless shimmering petals shot towards him rapidly.
Lian opened his mouth, gathering a massive amount of flames that emitted intense light and heat, yet he held back from releasing them immediately.
Whizz! Whizz! Whizz!
He did not attempt to dodge, as Petal Blizzard covered a wide area with countless incoming petals. If Lian evaded, Ninetales and Kalia behind him could be affected, which he needed to consider carefully.
Therefore, taking the attack head-on wouldn't harm him. Lian wanted to end this quickly. As the petals struck his body, their Grass-type power was significantly weakened by his attributes.
To Lian, it felt like being pelted by numerous tiny pebbles—somewhat painful but ultimately inconsequential.
With a flap of his wings, Lian opened his mouth, finally unleashing the concentrated flames.
Flame Spiral!
As soon as the flames emerged, they began spinning wildly, forming a spiral shape before hurtling straight towards the approaching Vileplume.
Boom!
The Vileplume couldn't evade Lian's Flame Spiral; it was impossible due to his precise aim.
With a deafening roar, the intense Flame Spiral fiercely struck the Vileplume. Despite healing some damage with Moonlight, the earlier Air Slashes from Lian had taken their toll, leaving the Vileplume weakened.
As the Flame Spiral hit its target, the concentrated blast of scorching heat and force sent the Vileplume flying, crashing loudly against the stone wall behind it.
It was over.
Despite Vileplume's flashy moves and releasing significantly more attacks than Lian, they proved ineffective.
When everything settled down, sunlight filtered through the leaves, illuminating the defeated and incapacitated Vileplume.
