Chapter 2 - Your Ability Has No Effect on Me

Here's the English translation of your novel excerpt:

---

I have never tasted the bitterness of defeat.

I don't quite understand the powers I possess; I only know that my opponents' abilities never seem to affect me.

Aside from my daily routine, all that remains is endless combat. I never intended to provoke anyone, yet there are always mysterious assassins continuously launching attacks against me.

It's as if I am seen as some kind of extremely evil existence, one that must be eradicated.

The scene before me shifted from darkness to haziness, with colorful lights flashing in alternating patterns. This phenomenon ceased only when my vision fully recovered.

Dazed, I looked around and took in the dreamlike scenery of this otherworldly place.

Several giant trees rose from the ground, with countless pale green lights floating in the air. Various plants and creatures adorned the canvas known as "the forest."

The fragrance of the flowers and grass seemed to have a peculiar magic; just a slight inhale invigorated me.

"The transfer was successful... Now I should find a populated area."

With my leg muscles tensed, I pushed off the ground and ran with all my might. I didn't want to waste a single moment.

Under the influence of my high-speed movement, the surrounding scenery stretched infinitely, turning into long streaks of light that brushed past me.

I ran like this for an indeterminate time until I finally slowed to a stop, exhausted.

As the scene before me gradually came into focus, a dilapidated wooden cabin appeared within my line of sight. It looked as if it had been abandoned for a long time.

I stepped inside alone; with each step, the long-neglected floor creaked ominously, making me feel like it could collapse at any moment.

Surveying the layout of the cabin, aside from some old furniture and decorations, a prominent altar in front caught my attention.

On the altar lay a beautifully decorated wooden box, emanating a blood-red glow and a pungent smell that indicated its danger.

"What's in this box...?"

I brushed aside the dust on the box's lid and, feeling curious, opened it—

—Nothing?

I examined the entire box inside and out, but still found nothing unusual.

"Tsk... Stranger, how did you manage to escape the corruption of the Divine Curse Box?"

"...Who are you?"

Turning around, I saw a man in a hooded cloak, smacking his lips softly as he stepped out of the shadows.

"Don't play dumb!"

In an instant, a silver light flashed close to my throat.

Fortunately, my reflexes were quick enough to block it with a dagger I had concealed in my sleeve before the blade could touch my neck.

"You've got some skill, but how will you deal with this?"

Suddenly, a thick yellow mist filled the room, and the man's figure gradually disappeared into it.

My eyes struggled to open, unable to see my surroundings.

Even if I could open them, it wouldn't matter; the dense fog had completely obscured his form.

Is there no way out...?

How could that be?

Such tricks wouldn't work on me at all.

It's time to end this farce.

Without any flashy maneuvers, I simply threw my dagger toward "that place"—

"Ugh...!"

A sound of something collapsing onto the wooden floor echoed; if there were no surprises, it must have been that assailant from earlier.

"How did you determine my location...?"

Compared to before, the man's voice was a bit hoarse, accompanied by the smell of blood in the air.

"Did you create this dust with your own ability, right?"

"And so what...!"

"That's why I could figure out your position."

"Huh?!!"

Without giving him a chance to think further, I threw another throwing knife toward where he had been.

I heard the sound of the blade piercing flesh, followed by a profound silence.

As the smoke gradually dispersed with the death of its caster, a lifeless body came into view.

Approaching, I saw the man's twisted, horrified expression, tears still glistening on his cheeks.

This is the consequence of provoking me.

"Well then, that should be enough..."

Just as I was about to turn and leave...

"Perhaps he has something useful on him?" This thought flashed through my mind.

Before I could make a decision, my hands uncontrollably reached for the corpse.

Since I'm at it... I might as well turn the whole cabin upside down, not just the enemy's body!

Dusty bookshelves, withered flowerbeds, an altar long untouched... I wouldn't miss any place that might hide something.

But the result...

Aside from a nameplate and a short sword forged from some black material, there was nothing else useful.

I shook the short sword; its blade flickered ominously, looking far more dangerous than the box from earlier.

Sheathing the blade, I stepped outside eagerly. I took a deep breath of fresh air; even though I could ignore the fog released by the enemy, the air quality inside the cabin was still terrible.

Looking up, the sky of this other world was a pale red, with flowing clouds drifting slowly. It was clearly daytime, yet the brilliant starlit sky usually seen at night was visible.

Shifting my gaze from the sky to the front, I could see a massive city in the distance.

That must be the place I'm looking for.

***

The night wind howled, and the bright full moon intertwined with the stars, casting a pale glow upon the ground.

A woman walked into the dilapidated wooden cabin where a battle had taken place during the day.

She had red hair, black sclera, and red pupils, with black ragged strips of cloth wrapped around her neck and a spiral sword tied at her waist.

She casually thrust the spear she carried into the ground, crossing her arms as she observed the state of the cabin.

Accompanied by the pungent stench of decay, she saw a corpse sprawled in the corner of the room, the splattered blood now congealed, with signs of having been rummaged through.

Faced with this situation, the woman stroked her chin, then revealed a knowing smile.
