Chapter 60: The Birth Of Wizards

Others couldn't see it, but Dudley could. The moment Argus started drinking the potion, Dudley activated his "Gamer's Mind" and observed everything through his Mage Sight.

The whispers of magic entered Argus's body. Usually, the magic would concentrate in one place, but this time was different. The ancient magic flowed through his body like blood in his veins. A few seconds later, the magic saturated enough to envelop his entire body.

Suddenly, Dudley heard Argus speak.

"I... I don't feel anything," Argus said.

Dudley deactivated his Gamer's Mind and pulled out a spare wand.

"Is that your wand?" Hermione asked, noticing the new wand in Dudley's hand.

"Just a spare," Dudley replied, handing it to Argus.

Argus took the wand and immediately felt something, though he couldn't quite understand it. He noticed Dudley drawing his own wand as well.

"I'm going to teach you a spell to see if it worked. This is the easiest spell in the entire curriculum," Dudley said, demonstrating Lumos.

"Remember, the incantation is Lumos, L-U-M-O-S, and you need to flick the wand slightly downward, like this," Dudley said, showing the motion. "Now, try it."

Argus, eager to find out if he had become a wizard, excitedly followed Dudley's instructions.

"Lumos," Argus said, flicking the wand downward. The tip of the wand suddenly lit up.

Argus was dumbfounded, Hermione was in disbelief, and Dudley smiled.

"I... I did it... I'm a wizard!" Argus cried, rushing to hug Dudley tightly.

"Hey, old man, don't hug me! I don't want your snot on my robes," Dudley grumbled.

Hermione couldn't hold back her laughter, snorting at Dudley's random comment.

Argus, realizing what he had done, quickly stepped back. "Mr. Dursley, thank you so much for your help," he said, wiping the tears and snot from his face.

"Don't worry about it," Dudley said before pointing his wand at his robe. "Scourgify."

The once dirty robes became clean instantly. He then looked up at Argus.

"Congratulations. The first test was a success, and you've become a temporary wizard," Dudley announced.

"Temporary?" Argus said, shocked.

"Yes, this potion is still in clinical trials, so we need to check how long it lasts in your body," Dudley explained.

Argus's excited face suddenly fell, and he began to cry.

Dudley and Hermione exchanged uncertain glances, unsure of what to do as they watched him weep. After a while, Argus stopped crying and looked at Dudley with resolve.

"Mr. Dursley, I'm ready if you want to test the potion or any spell on me. I don't want anyone to be a squib anymore," Argus said, his voice full of determination.

"Okay, let's go to your office because I need to test your magical capabilities," said Dudley.

"Alright, follow me," replied Argus, turning and walking towards his caretaker's office.

He walked faster than Dudley and Hermione, clearly excited and eager to use his newfound magic. Suddenly, Argus nearly collided with Susan Bones, who had just turned the corner with Hannah Abbot.

"Watch where you're going," snarled Argus. Normally, he would berate the students, but this time, he just said one sentence and walked away.

Susan, flustered, suddenly noticed Dudley.

"There you are, Dudley," said Susan.

Dudley stopped, and Argus, noticing Susan stopping Dudley, also paused and looked back at them.

"Why is he staring at us again?" Susan asked, confused.

"Hi, Susan. I have something to do with Mr. Argus," said Dudley.

"Both of you?" asked Susan, noticing Dudley was with Hermione.

"Yes," Dudley replied.

"Did you do something naughty and get caught?" asked Susan with a grin.

"No," both Dudley and Hermione said in unison.

"Okay, then I'll follow you," said Susan.

Argus approached them.

"Only Mr. Dursley and Miss Granger," Argus warned.

Hannah and Susan exchanged displeased looks.

"Argus, they're my friends, and I want to show them the results of the experiment," said Dudley.

"But..." Argus began but was cut off by Dudley.

"They already know about the first part of the experiment," Dudley smiled.

"How many people have you told?" Argus asked, panicking.

"Don't worry. They only know the first part. Your part is a secret, but today, I'd like to show them the real truth," said Dudley.

Reluctantly, Argus agreed, considering the importance of the potion.

Thus, the group of three became five.

Argus's office, normally filled with students caught breaking the rules, was now filled with three girls, one handsome young man, and one grumpy old caretaker.

"You all relax and sit over there," Dudley said, taking out his wand and conjuring three chairs for them.

Susan and Hannah, still confused, followed Dudley's lead, while Hermione, who knew the truth, sat as well.

"Okay," Dudley said, glancing at his watch. "We only have five minutes left, so I'll teach you the spell I used earlier."

"The cleaning spell?" asked Argus.

"Yes, that one. The incantation is 'Scourgify'—S-C-O-U-R-G-I-F-Y—and the wand movement is a circle," explained Dudley.

He then cast Aguamenti, letting water pour onto the caretaker's desk. Afterward, he flicked his wand again, and the water was cleaned up instantly.

"Remember the wand movement," Dudley said, before casting Aguamenti once more.

Argus memorized the wand movement and said the incantation. The water that had soaked the table suddenly vanished.

"Wow!" exclaimed the three girls as they watched Argus perform magic.

"I remember the first time I learned that spell, it took me about an hour to master it," said Susan. "Did you just learn it today, Mr. Argus?"

"Yes, it was the first time he used that spell," Dudley answered for him.

"But wasn't he a student at Hogwarts?" asked Hannah Abbot. "We all learned that spell in school."

Argus's gaze dropped, and he opened his mouth to speak.

"I'm actually a Squib," he said quietly.

Suddenly, the room fell silent.

"A Squib?" Hannah and Susan echoed in disbelief.

"But you just used magic," said Hannah.

"Yes, we all saw it," added Susan.

"He's telling the truth, Hannah, Susan," Dudley confirmed.

Argus's body suddenly seemed to weaken, and everyone noticed it. Dudley glanced at his watch. The timer had surpassed 20 minutes.

"The effect has ended," Dudley said.

Hearing this, Argus's expression grew sad.

"How many potions do you have left?" asked Argus.
