Chapter 178 - Chapter 177: Invitation

Agatha tapped her cane on the ground, her voice was as cranky as always.

"Brats, we need to talk." Sabrina's expression flared with annoyance, but Gladion kept his cool, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "You could've just called if you wanted to talk."

Koga's eyes narrowed,"It's private business. Not meant for others to know."

Gladion crossed his arms, "You old people need to be polite if you want to talk. You both might be war veterans and Kanto heroes but that doesn't make you my superior and it doesn't give you the right to be rude to us."

"And I don't like being spied on during my private time, you know. I'm already busy with my gym, my businesses, and oh, making sure corrupt League officials are identified and sent to jail." He shot a side-eye at Koga as the jab was met for him since he was responsible for finding the traitors in the league. 'Bet that stung, ninja boy.'

Agatha glared at him,"Watch your tongue boy. Even your sister had to be respectful with me and she is my apprentice."

"Oh and when you spoke your tone did not matter?" Gladion tauted back

Agatha released her ghostly aura as the people on the streets ran from the ghostly cackles and the shivering aura.

Gladion released his own psychic aura which overwhelmed hers making Agatha grimace.

Agatha grunted in irritation. "You're worse than your sister with your tantrums. I am sorry for my tone Now teleport us somewhere private."

Sabrina's eyes gleamed, her voice dead serious. "Can I teleport the old hag into a coffin in a crematory?"

Gladion's jaw dropped, his aura spiking with shock. "Did you just make a dark joke?!"

Sabrina beamed, her aura sparkling with pride. "Yes, I did!" Nyx, at their feet, wiped an imaginary tear with her paw, her telepathic voice warm. "I'm so proud. You've made me proud, girly."

Sabrina's smile faltere twitching with annoyance as she glared at Nyx. 'She's stealing my thunder,' Sabrina thought.

"Alright, let's move," he said as he teleported Koga and Nyx while Sabrina teleported Agatha. They teleported, the world blurring, and landed in the conference room of Moonwood Gym—a long table, a few chairs, and a quiet space.

Agatha and Koga materialized beside them. Gladion leaned against the table, his smirk returning. "Talk now, oh respected elders."

'Let's see what they want' he thought.

Agatha's scowl deepened, her voice sharp. "Koga, are you sure about these two? They're brats who don't respect their seniors."

Koga shook his head, "They're the best we've got." He turned to Gladion and Sabrina, his voice serious. "You might have heard the tales of the fabeld Aura Guardians. We protect the region from terrorists, criminals, and legendary Pokémon rampages. After the Infinite Pokémon War, we shut down, but two decades ago, we restarted operations."

"Each region has their own Aura Guardians. We are some of the top members of Kanto Aura Guardians. We don't interfere in region politics between regions in fact we sometimes collaborate with other regions Aura Guardians to take down threats."

"During the infinity war, some Aura corps of some regions dishonoured these rules and did some military operations across borders which resulted in the dissolution of the Aura corps. But seeing new terrorists and the growing unease around the legendary Pokemon which have been silent, Kanto Aura Guardians had started their operations again."

Gladion's brow rose, his aura curious. 'Aura Guardians? That's some old-school stuff. Not much was mentioned about them in the anime except a movie about them.'

Sabrina's interest was piqued. 'Dad mentioned them once—secret protectors, crazy strong.'

Agatha pointed at Gladion, her eyes glinting. "You, brat, have the strength to be one of our top members. Your psychic powers are among the best with aura abilities, and your social media empire? It's a goldmine for gathering intel."

She turned to Sabrina, her cane tapping. "And you, girl, are the future Saffron City Gym Leader. Your father's handing you the gym before the next season, if I'm not mistaken. With your psychic powers, you'd make a fine Aura Guardian."

Agatha leaned forward, her grin sly. "So, when can I expect you both to report for duty?"

Gladion raised an eyebrow, his smirk devilish. "And what makes you think we're accepting?"

Agatha blinked, her aura faltering. "What do you mean?" Gladion crossed his arms, his voice casual but sharp.

"I don't see any benefits in joining. More work, more headaches, and I'm already doing plenty for Kanto."

'They think I'll just sign up for their secret club? Not without a deal,' he thought, his aura steady.

Koga's jaw tightened, his face was filled with disbelief. "Benefits? You said on the news everything you do is for Kanto's safety!"

Gladion's smile was innocent, but his eyes gleamed like a devil's. "Sure, and I can keep doing that without joining your superhero group. Why add Aura Guardians to my plate? Give me some real perks, and maybe I'll consider it."

'Let's see how bad they want me,' he thought catching Agatha's irritation and Koga's frustration.

Sabrina stifled a laugh, 'Glady's playing hardball. Love it.'

Agatha cackled, her cane tapping the floor. "Told you he wouldn't crack easily." Koga sighed, his face was resigned but he was a little amused too.
