Lincoln was relieved to have gotten home, feeling very banged up from his fight earlier. The boy did his best to stand up straight, not wanting to attract any attention or worry from his sisters.
Once inside, he could immediately hear the pestering of the girls in question, aiming all of their questions toward Lana.
"Why were you with Spider-Man on TV?" Lily asked.
"Who was that rhino looking dude?" Luna asked.
"You didn't break into another zoo, did you?" Luan asked, chuckling a bit.
"This isn't the time for jokes, Luan!" Lola scolded. "We want to know what's going on!"
"I don't suppose you got any samples from Spider-Man, or even that rhinoceros, did you?" Lisa asked.
"How strong was that rhino guy, anyway?" Lynn asked.
"How did you even bump into Spider-Man?" Leni asked.
Lana was slowly getting overwhelmed with the amount of questions, the girl rubbing her head in pain, "Look, I just happened to run into Spider-Man at the city dump, and he carried me to safety because that guy, who calls himself 'Rhino', showed up. Then Katherine Mulligan drove me home, that's it. If you want to know more, I told Katherine everything I knew and she'll probably report on it later."
"Luna, Luan, weren't you in the van too?" Lynn asked.
"No, Katherine towed us home, so Luan and I stayed in Vanzilla," Luna said.
"Weren't you on a double date? Where are Sam and Benny?" Leni asked.
"They took a taxi home, Benny really needed to lie down," Luan said.
"Sam was a bit freaked out herself," Luna said. "So that means Lana's the only one who got to talk to Katherine."
"I barely talked much at all," Lana insisted.
"Poor Lana, makes sense that the sisters are so curious," Lincoln thought to himself as he entered the kitchen. "Hey, I'm back."
"Yo, Linc! Did you hear about Lana and Spider-Man!?" Lynn asked. "They got chased by a rhinoceros!"
"Uh...yeah, I heard all about it," Lincoln said, walking over to his sister. "I'm actually really worried about Lana, would it be alright if I had some time to talk to her?"
"Go for it, we're not gonna stop you," Luna said.
"I meant in private," Lincoln said. "She looks a bit overwhelmed right now and it might be easier if I spoke to her one on one."
"Uh...yeah, I would rather talk to Lincoln in private," Lana said. "For reasons."
The sisters did look confused for a second, each of them wondering why Lana wanted to talk to Lincoln only. Both Lincoln and Lana were worried that this seemed too suspicious, but fortunately those worries quickly faded away.
"I know why," Lily said. "Lana's scared, so she wants to spend time with Linky. That makes sense, when I'm scared, I always go to Linky."
"Riiiiiight, yeah, I'm totally..." Lana bitterly continued, "Scared..."
"Well, I don't blame you for being scared, but um...is Lincoln really the best one ot turn to?" Lynn asked. "No offense bro, but you're kind of a wussy pushover."
"How am I not supposed to be offended by that?" Lincoln asked.
"I'm just saying, you're not exactly tough," Lynn said. "So I don't get why-"
"Look, I just want to be with Lincoln!" Lana said. "He's a guy, and girls feel safer around guys than other girls."
This earned a surprised reaction from the other sisters, especially Lynn, who if anything, looked a bit offended by that statement.
"What's that supposed to mean? A girl shouldn't need a guy to make her feel safe!" Lynn said.
"What do you know? You don't have an older brother," Lana said, hopping off the chair and running over to hug Lincoln. "I prefer my brother, so you gotta deal with it!"
"Excuse me!?" Lynn shouted in disbelief.
"Uh...we should go," Lincoln said, knowing that Lynn was seconds away from bursting. Moving quickly, he escorted Lana away, leaving an irritated Lynn behind.
"Can you believe this bullshit!?" Lynn asked.
"Lynn, no bad words, or I'll tell mommy and daddy!" Lily warned.
"Snitch," Lynn said.
"Lynn, grow up," Luna said.
"But it's bogus! Since when does Lana consider Stinkin' a good bodyguard?" Lynn asked. "He still wets his pants every time he sees one of Lucy's bats!"
"Like you haven't," Lucy said.
"Oh shut up, no one asked you," Lynn said.
"Then stop whining," Lucy scolded.
"Or what? You'll go to your big brother for protection?" Lynn asked.
"Well between you and Lincoln, I trust my brother to watch my back more than I trust you," Lucy said.
"Oh I don't believe this. First Lana, now you? Since when is Lincoln of all people the most masculine guy?" Lynn asked. "Who wants to bet that he still reads those Princess Pony books?"
Lucy awkwardly looked aside, feeling a twinge of regret. "If Lincoln wants to read those books, that's fine. What's the big deal?"
"Yeah, Princess Pony is cute," Lily said.
"GAH!" Loly grabbed Lily, facing the girl toward herself. "You've been reading that junk!?"
"Yeah, why?" Lily asked.
"No, no, no, I am not allowing any more of my siblings to read that garbage!" Lola said.
"Uh, don't you like pretty stuff like that too?" Lily asked.
"Please, I have standards," Lola said. "With any luck, maybe Linky gave up on those. Despite Lynn's paranoia."
"I'm just saying, it's possible," Lynn said. "He probably exposed Lily to it, the wuss."
"Come on Lily, let's purge your room of that junk," Lola said, dragging Lily away.
"But I like it!" Lily shouted, trying to resist being pulled away.
Luna stroked her chin in curiosity, "You know, come to think of it, I've never actually seen Lincoln reading those books."
"Yeah, more often than not, he's reading Ace Savvy comics, or David Steele," Luan pointed out. "I've never seen him with a Princess Pony book."
"He's just hiding it so we won't find out," Lynn said.
"But we already know he reads those books," Luna said. "Why bother hiding it? Not like he's ashamed to do things he likes."
"He's pretty thick skinned, how many times have we poked fun at something he likes, and he just goes about his business anyway?" Luan asked. "I'll be the first to admit that Lincoln handles criticism way better than any of us."
"Oh yeah, like the time you all freaked out because he exposed how many people don't like your music, or jokes, or mom's writing," Lynn said.
"That only happened because you were whining about Scoots calling you 'Emu Legs'," Luna reminded.
"Yeah, but at least I didn't shut Lincoln out," Lynn said. "He even manned up and showed all the times he got heckled by that douchebag, Chandler."
"Well now, interesting choice of words there, elder sister," Lisa said.
"What words?" Lynn asked.
"You said 'manned up'," Lisa said. "Implying that you are indeed aware of our sole brother's heightened masculinity."
"...Well, that's just one thing," Lynn said. "I'm still tougher than him."
"Physically you're tough, but Lincoln has emotional strength," Lisa said. "Quite frankly, the reason many of us are quick to go to him is because he has that fortitude to him in which no matter what happens, he almost never loses hope. He's a fighter and he's too stubborn to admit defeat. It's only on the rarest occasions that he ever gives up, and even then, it just takes one family pep talk to get that fighting spirit back."
"The only time I remember Linky giving up was in Scotland," Leni said. "When Morag made him look bad in front of Loch Loud."
"Precisely, and with a little help, he was not only himself again, he was stronger," Lisa said. "Lincoln learns from a lot of his mistakes and figures out ways to better himself, something many of us have struggled with."
"This is bogus," Lynn said. "Okay, Lincoln is capable of being a real man, but I'm still tougher than him. Why did Lana prefer Lincoln over me?"
"Here's another possibility," Lisa said. "Ideally, females gravitate toward males when they want safety and security. It's a reason why they find mates after all."
"...But what if the girl is gay?" Lynn asked. "Like Luna? She's got a girlfriend, who does she gravitate toward?"
Luna groaned in annoyance, "You can't be serious."
"Not all of it is romance related, hence why Lana is seeking comfort from her brother," Lisa said. "Unless you mean to imply that-"
"Whoa! No way! I am NOT touching that crap," Lynn said. "I get enough of that from some kids at school."
"Same here," Luna said.
"Ditto," Luan added.
"People can be so weird," Leni said.
"Look, clearly you lack the mental capacity to understand Lana's choice, so let me break it down to you in a way that even you can understand," Lisa said. "She prefers Lincoln, not you, so get over it."
Lynn once again could not believe her ears, "Wow, so that's how it's going to be? Well fine, who needs all of you?" The jock stormed off, leaving the other sisters behind.
"When is she going to grow up?" Lucy asked.
"Once she gets past a lot of her issues," Luna said. "That girl's got an ego a mile wide."
"Perhaps one day she will come to her senses, but it would take a miracle for it to happen sooner than later," Lisa said.
Luan tapped her chin in wonder, "Still, it is curious that Lana felt so attached to Lincoln. They've always been close, and Lana does admire Lincoln. But she's always had thick skin herself. She was barely bothered by the fact that she got kidnapped once."
"Considering all the danger that's been going on lately, it's probably starting to dawn on her that things have gotten a lot more dangerous lately," Luna said.
"Just the fact that someone in a rhino suit stormed down a highway is insane," Luan said. "Royal Woods is changing."
"And it's all Spider-Man's fault," Leni said.
"Huh? How is it his fault?" Luna asked.
"Since he showed up, so did the villains," Leni said.
"That sounds like the same bogus nonsense that Jameson dude's been saying," Luna said. "This wasn't Spider-Man's fault, if anything these guys were going to show up anyway. Villains showed up in New York, is that The Avengers' fault?"
"I will credit the fact that Spider-Man's existence actually saves more lives than he endangers," Lisa said. "But I still need to learn more about him, the enigma is eating away at me."
"How do you even plan to study up anything about him?" Luan asked.
"Well, for starters, it might help if I knew which bathroom he frequently uses," Lisa said. "I could use a stool sample."
Each of the sisters stood there in disgust, amazed by what their scientist of a sibling could even say.
"Lisa, that's just messed up!" Luna scolded.
"It's just human excretion, perfectly natural," Lisa said. "It may not even be human at all, it might-"
"Enough, please!" Leni cried. "You're grossing me out."
"Ugh, fine," Lisa said, storming off. "Bunch of pansies."
"...That aside, should we check on Lana later?" Luna asked.
"Of course, after Linky spends time with her," Leni said.
"Wonder how he's even going about it?" Luan said to herself.
Upstairs, Lincoln was laying on his bed, with Lana right next to him, both filled with thoughts about today.
"So...he's called The Rhino..." Lincoln said.
"Sure is, kind of lame and to the point, but not our place to say," Lana said. "Funny, first you fight someone named 'The Vulture', then it was 'Toad' and 'Sabretooth', then 'The Lizard', then 'The Chameleon' and now 'The Rhino'. If they form a group, what are they going to be called? The Zoo of Evil?"
"I really don't want to fight a group of six supervillains, so I won't even imagine it," Lincoln said. "But, with this Rhino guy around, this might put a damper on the Father-Son picnic plans."
"Not if you stop him before then," Lana said. "He's a ten foot tall human rhino, he can't be that hard to find."
"Hey, I tried tracking down a human lizard in Great Lakes," Lincoln said. "It's not that easy."
"Lizards aren't as destructive, plus Royal Woods is smaller than the city," Lana said. "Even if you don't find him, what about Christina?"
"I can't ask her, she might get hurt," Lincoln said.
"You gotta do something," Lana said. "It would be devastating to dad if you couldn't go, or if this picnic got cancelled."
"I know Lana, but I already have other things to worry about too, like finding the Green Goblin," Lincoln said.
"Put that on hold, or ask Stella to handle it," Lana said.
"Lana, we went over this, Stella's too loyal to Black Widow to defy her wishes," Lincoln said, then heard his phone ring. He looked to see who was calling. "Well, speaking of whom."
"Gee, hope she didn't somehow catch your diss," Lana joked. "Maybe she has psychic abilities."
"Oh ha-ha," Lincoln answered the phone. "Yeah?"
"Lincoln! What happened!? I saw something in the news reports about a rampaging human rhinoceros!" Stella nervously shouted.
"Yeah, I was having a weird day," Lincoln said.
"What about Lana? Reports said she was there too!" Stella said.
"Lana's fine, she's with me," Lincoln said.
"Hey Stella!" Lana called.
"Oh I'm glad she's alright," Stella said in relief. "Lincoln, do you know anything about this Rhino person?"
"No, he just showed up and started attacking me," Lincoln said. "It's like I was his immediate target or something."
"Why would someone willingly attack you?" Stella asked. "At least with Kraven, he attacked you out of revenge for what happened to Doctor Connors. Did you upset anyone recently?"
"I upset a lot of people, but I'm not sure who would send someone after me," Lincoln said.
"Maybe that Goblin guy has to do with it?" Lana suggested. "He had one lackey, maybe he has more."
"That's possible," Lincoln said. "But anyway, Lana and I are alright."
"Happy to hear," Stella said. "By the way, Christina may be stopping by as well."
"Really?" Lincoln asked, then heard a tap on his window. He turned to see Christina waiting there, while in costume. "Oh, she's here."
"I'll check on you again later," Stella said. "Oh and Lincoln, can we talk after school tomorrow? Just the two of us?"
"Uh...sure," Lincoln said.
"Thanks, see you," Stella said, hanging up on her end.
Lincoln placed his phone away and opened his window to greet his sidekick, "Hey Christina, this is a surprise."
"Yeah, sorry for the surprise visit, when I heard about that rhinoceros, I got worried," Christina came inside, removing her wig and mask. "You're not hurt, are you?"
"I'm fine," Lincoln said as Christina physically checked on him. "He got a few blows, nothing too bad."
"That's a relief," Christina said, checking Lincoln's arm. "Still, that must have been really scary."
"It's just a rhinoceros," Lincoln insisted. "Nothing I couldn't handle."
Christina turned her attention to Lana, "And what about you?" She physically checked on the girl. "Any injuries, Lana?"
"I'm fine, Lincoln kept me safe," Lana said.
"That's good, I'd hate it if you got hurt," Christina said, patting Lana on the head. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to help."
"Not like you could have known," Lincoln said. "It just happened."
"We were supposed to be patrolling together through, but after yesterday, I guess things just got awkward," Christina said.
"No, that wasn't your fault, I know I made this uncomfortable the moment I got into such a petty argument with Stella," Lincoln said.
"Still, it's important to always stick together, no matter what happens," Christina said. "I promise I won't forget that."
"Look, Stella wants to talk to me tomorrow, hopefully it's to put aside any differences," Lincoln said. "Until then, don't sweat it. None of this was your fault."
"Just...promise you'll be careful, okay?" Christina said, gently stroking his face. "I don't want you getting hurt."
"I'll be fine," Lincoln said, blushing a bit from the contact, this not going unnoticed by Lana. "Anyway, not to be rude, but you should probably leave before one of my sisters catches on to you being here."
"Right, of course, by Lincoln," Chrstina said, placing her disguise back on and leaving.
"That was nice of her to come," Lincoln said. "Poor girl feels like this is her fault somehow. Not a good mindset to have."
"Well she is your sidekick, so she wants to be there for your fights," Lana said. "But, something tells me it can be more than that."
"What does that mean?" Lincoln asked.
"You saw how affectionate she just was, didn't you?" Lana asked. "I know you know, it's all over your face."
"All over my face?" Lincoln asked.
"Eh, you're a smart boy, you'll figure it out," Lana said, hopping off the bed. "Listen, I'm going to go feed my pets before they start tearing up Lola's junk. My advice, pay extra careful attention to Christina's mannerisms. I get the feeling that something is developing."
"Uh...sure, I guess," Lincoln said.
Lana made her way out of Lincoln's room, one concern lingering on her mind. "Given that Lincoln did just break up with Jordan, he may not be ready to move on though. I might need to give him a little push. There's also Stella, but if she's not going to make a move, then Christina deserves this chance."
The following day after school, Lincoln was making his way out of the school grounds with a bit on his mind. The main thing of course being to look for Stella.
Upon heading outside, he spotted her talking with Christina, the latter being quick to notice her partner.
"There's Lincoln," Christina said, gesturing to the boy.
Stella turned to wave to the boy, "Hey Lincoln, got a second?"
"Of course," Lincoln got in close to whisper. "I was actually on my way to the Secret HQ."
"Okay, we can talk there where it's private," Christina said. "Come on, let's-"
"Hey! Lincoln!" Clyde called, getting the boy's attention.
"Oh Clyde, did you need something?" Lincoln asked.
"I just came to ask you something," Clyde said. "I meant to ask earlier but it slipped my mind, mainly since Rusty was so focused on that rhinoceros that was chasing Spider-Man. To think that Lana was part of that, how is she feeling?"
"She's fine, she trusts Spider-Man," Lincoln said. "But my sisters, they're not so fine."
"Yeah, they've always been protective, understandably so," Clyde said. "But I just wanted to ask, are you and your dad going to that Father-Son picnic event?"
"Yeah, that's the plan," Lincoln said. "Though I am worried given that Rhino guy is out there."
"Oh yeah, that might be trouble, but I trust Spider-Man to handle him," Clyde said. "If he can't do it, no one else can."
"What about Firestar?" Christina asked. "She's a hero too."
"Well she's just a sidekick," Clyde said. "Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate sidekicks. My favorite hero is One-Eyed Jack. But even I know that Ace Savvy is the more reliable type."
Christina furrowed her brow a bit, "Just because she's the sidekick, doesn't mean she can't be a hero if she needs to be."
"I'm with Christina, Firestar is a great hero," Lincoln said.
"Well she needs to prove herself," Clyde said. "Whenever there's a big mess, Spider-Man is usually the one who stops the villain."
"With Firestar's help!" Christina interjected.
"Hey she's not bad, but she does seem a bit weak sometimes," Clyde said. "She tends to get knocked out of the fight too much."
"I...She does not!" Christina shouted. "You take that back, Clyde McBride!"
"Whoa, easy there!" Clyde urged.
"Settle down Chrstina," Stella pleaded. "It's not worth fighting over."
Christina took a breath before calming herself, "Yeah, you're right. Sorry about that, Clyde."
"It's fine, honestly I didn't really take you for a Firestar fan," Clyde said. "I didn't know she had any fans. Not a knock at her, but she almost never gets talked about, aside from her first appearance."
"Are you sure about that Clyde? I've heard a few people talking about Firestar, she deserves the praise she gets after all," Stella said. "Sidekicks are important for heroes, it keeps them in line."
"True, and I have heard some people talking," Clyde said. "A lot of people I know think they're dating."
Lincoln's face turned red, as did Christina's while Stella awkwardly glanced at the two, "Uh, dating?"
"Yeah, people think there's some type of secret relationship going on," Clyde said. "I even overheard Rusty considering what their kids could be like."
"KIDS!?" Lincoln and Christina asked in disbelief.
"They seem too young to try and make kids," Stella said.
"Yeah, they do seem to be close to our age," Clyde said. "For all we know, Spider-Man and Firestar are students at this school."
"Let's stay focused on the original topic," Lincoln urged, still feeling embarrassed from a second ago. "Clyde, are you going to the picnic as well?"
"Sure am, already booked a reservation," Clyde said.
"Are you bringing both your dads, or just one?" Stella asked.
"They're both coming, but one is more athletic than the other, so that's the one I'm competing with," Clyde said.
"It'd be cool if you had a loophole that let you use both dads," Lincoln said.
"We actually asked, but the committee said only one parent," Clyde said. "Which is only fair."
"I'll see you at the event then," Lincoln said. "Right now I gotta talk to Stella and Christina about something. I'll text you later."
"You got it," Clyde said.
"Come on girls," Lincoln said, leading Stella and Christina away.
Clyde however, was seen rubbing his chin in curiosity, "Lincoln sure has been hanging out with Christina and Stella a lot, lately. Wonder what he's up to?"
It wasn't long before the three were at the secret lair, Lincoln and Christina having already swapped into their hero clothes.
Stella had unloaded her backpack, looking for some pen and paper to get an early start on some homework.
"I should let you know; I promised Chloe that I would tutor her later," Lincoln said. "So, we might need to call off the patrol early. Hopefully nothing happens."
"It's fine, I can stay patrolling, even if you go and do that tutoring thing," Christina said.
"Are you sure about that? It could be dangerous on your own," Lincoln said.
"I can handle it, I know I'm not as strong as you, but my powers still give me an advantage, especially against common thugs," Christina said.
"I'm not worried about the thugs, I'm worried about Rhino," Lincoln said. "If he shows up, don't try fighting him alone. He's too strong for you."
Christina looked a little bothered by that statement, "And how do you know that? I could very well be much stronger than I look!"
"Christina, I could barely land a blow on the guy," Lincoln said.
"Oh, so that makes you stronger than me, is that it!?" Christina got in Lincoln's face. "Am I really just the pretty sidekick for you!? Am I there just to boost your ego and make you look good!?"
"Whoa! Chill out Christina!" Stella urged. "This is not worth getting angry over!"
"Yeah, I didn't mean to upset you," Lincoln insisted, trying calm Christina down. "I just don't want to take the chance that you fight him and get hurt doing so. The last thing I want is that something bad happens to you, and I'm not there to help."
Despite her frustration, Christina knew she couldn't stay mad at Lincoln, "I understand your worry, and I do appreciate you looking out for me. But, I need you to have more confidence in my abilities, Lincoln."
"I know, and I should," Lincoln said. "But part of being a hero means being responsible for the safety of others, that includes other heroes. I know Ace Savvy would never let One-Eyed Jack handle something he couldn't. You're strong, but Rhino is on a whole other level."
"Well, heroes also don't back down," Christina said.
"Still...maybe I should cancel with Chloe," Lincoln said, grabbing his phone. "Or maybe even delay-"
"Don't," Christina said. "Let me patrol. It will only be for a bit anyway. You have other responsiiblities, and honestly, you could use a break from time to time. You definitely work harder than me, if anything I need to pick it up a bit."
"And she won't be alone either," Stella said. "I will still be here keeping an eye out. If things really do get bad, I can just call you."
"That seems fair," Lincoln said. "And I suppose a couple of hours isn't too bad. Seriously, call me if there's trouble."
Christina felt a smile come to her face, "It's cute how much you worry. I guess I should be grateful to work with a hero who looks out for me."
"You're more than just my sidekick, Christina," Lincoln said. "You're my friend too, and I always look out for my friends."
"Aw, you're sweet," Christina gave Lincoln a hug. "I'm so happy to be your sidekick."
"Uh...thanks," Lincoln said, hestiantly returning the hug, though not without a hint of a blush.
Stella looked away in annoyance, but let the two have their moment. So long as trust was built, then it was fine. Besides, she had something to say.
"Hey, Lincoln," Stella got the boy's attention. "I need to get something of fmy chest. It's about our little conversation from the other day. The one about Natasha and Jordan."
"You call that a conversation?" Christina asked, breaking off the hug. "Seemed more like a vicious debate."
"Whatever you call it, I do want to come clean," Stella said. "Lincoln, I am sorry that I got so mad. I will admit that the main reason I got so mad is because I was upset that Natasha left. I felt like I was really getting to know her, and for her to leave just when we were bonding did hurt."
"It bothered me too, I really liked having Natasha around," Lincoln said. "Even if it did lead to the rumors that she was my mother."
"Well she seems like a great mother to have. She's been so helpful to me on a personal level too," Stella clutched her breasts a bit. "Especially regarding the changes to my body."
"I have noticed that you seem a bit less self-concious about it," Lincoln said. "Unless you're just hiding it well."
"I am still, but it's not as bad as before," Stella said. "In fact, that's why I was more than happy to dress like Black Widow for Halloween. She's sexy and she's not ashamed of it."
"I'm not even sure why some girls consider it shameful at all," Lincoln said. "Having big boobs should be to a girl as having big muscles is for a guy."
"Funny that breasts are a type of muscle too," Christina said. "So it's really no different than flexing power."
"Exactly, thats' what I got from Natasha," Stella said. "She's strong and sexy. Not just her, theorically guy heroes are like that. Like, have you seen how many girls get all love crazy over Thor?"
"I definitely have," Christina said, a blush appearing on her face. "Big muscles, pretty blonde hair, that cape. He's a dreamboat."
"Lola might be competition, she wants to be Thor's Queen," Lincoln said. "She even aims to lift his hammer to prove her worthiness."
"Hey, I don't blame Lola, who wouldn't want to be with a guy that handsome?" Stella said, a blush of her own forming on her face. "So dreamy."
"And they say only boys look for attraction in heroes," Lincoln teased. "I won't judge, Natasha is very 's got great curves."
"That's naughty of you to say, Lincoln," Stella teased. "So, is it her boobs or her butt that you like?"
"Stella!" Lincoln shouted in annoyance.
"Sorry, I shouldn't ask such things about your mommy," Stella again teased.
Lincoln's face turned blue, "Please do not mix up these conversations. Getting bad flashbacks to my sisters."
"Your sisters?" Christina asked.
"Those rumors that Lincoln is having secret romantic relationships with his sisters," Stella said.
Christina grimaced at the idea, "Ouch..."
"I don't even get why people even think about that stuff. I love my sisters, but not that way," Lincoln said. "Honestly, I blame Rusty for his stupid jokes."
"Sorry you're going through that," Christina said. "It sounds so juvenile and immature."
"You don't know the half of it," Lincoln said. "I'll manage, but I do wish those rumors would stop."
"Well, good thing you've had girlfriends recently to hopefully change people's views," Christina said.
"Yeah, girlfriends," Lincoln awkwardly stated. "Weird that over the last two months, I've had two girlfriends. And one I barely got to spend any time with."
"At least you got something," Stella said. "Still, I am also sorry about how I reacted to Jordan. Honestly I miss her too, but I know it hurts you because you two grew really fond of each other."
"Yeah, we were very fond of one another," Lincoln said, thinking back to the other day. "Especially in that Jacuzzi. I can only imagine how my friends would react if they ever found out what Jordan and I did when we were alone in there."
"She might come back one day," Christina said. "She just needs to calm herself a bit, especially after what happened regarding the Green Goblin."
"I still need to figure out more about that guy," Lincoln said. "I haven't found anything out yet, but I will soon."
"You're still looking into it?" Stella asked.
"Yeah, and I know you don't think that's a good idea," Lincoln said. "But, regardless of what Natasha said, I have to know more about him and what his goals are. I still won't find him if I can help it, but it's better to stop him from doing anything bad if we can help it."
"...I can't argue that," Stella said. "I just hope Natasha won't be too mad. She expects me to keep things under control, and the last thing I want to do is disappoint her."
"I don't think she'll be too mad," Christina said. "If we stop the Green Goblin, she might actually be proud of us."
"Yeah, that's the hope at least," Lincoln said. "I can't promise she'll be understanding, but maybe we just need more faith in her."
"If we do get in trouble, we'll keep your name out of it," Christina reassured.
"No, I can't do that," Stella said. "I'm not going to leave you two to take the fall. If she gets mad, it's at all of us."
"Are you sure? We know how much you admire Natasha," Lincoln said.
"I do admire her, which is why I can't lie to her, I respect her too much to do that," Stella said. "Besides, Natasha's a world class spy. I think she'd notice if we tried deceiving her, and it would ruin our trust with one another, which is worse for me."
"If that's how you feel," Christina said. "Let's just have faith that things work out."
"Until then, let's keep these streets cleaned," Lincoln said, about to head out.
"Wait, another thing," Stella said. "Lincoln, Clyde mentioned that father-son event, right?"
"Yeah, he did," Lincoln said.
"And you're competing?" Stella asked.
"Yeah, dad and I are going to take part of it," Lincoln said.
"What about your powers?" Stella asked.
Lincoln tapped his chin, "Right, I don't want to potentially cheat during this event."
"That's not what I'm worried about," Stella said. "If you're not careful, you might expose your abilities."
"Oh, right, that might be an issue," Lincoln said, trying to think it over. "I think I can cover up my abilities though. I have had to hold back any time Lynn tried wrestling me."
"Maybe practice it more, just in case," Stella said. "I won't tell you not to go since it would probably means a lot to you and your father if you did. I just want you to be careful."
"I will, thanks for the heads up," Lincoln said. "I'm still on the fence due to Rhino however."
"Don't be, I'll keep an eye out," Christina said. "And I'll be careful, so you don't need to worry."
"Alright..." Lincoln started to feel apprehensive. "I really hope I find him before the picnic."
Lincoln and Christina took off, leaving Stella behind as she took her spot as their head of communications.
"I wonder if I can figure out anything about Rhino? Why would he go after Lincoln? How did he get that armor? I doubt that's something just any regular person could come up with," Stella checked her laptop, glancing at pictures of the villain. "There must be some connection out there."
Near the edge of town, Stanko was seen sitting near a cliff, holding a large keg of beer that he easily drank out of. While doing so, he heard his phone ring, the man taking his time to answer it.
"What is it?" Stanko answered.
"Hey, we heard about your run in with Spider-Man," Fancy Dan said over the phone. "I don't suppose you finished the job like we asked ya to?"
"Little punk got away, lucky him," Stanko said.
"He got away!?" Fancy Dan shouted. "Dammit, we told you to squash that spider!"
"Look, he got away, he won't get lucky again," Stanko said. "Besides, are you in any position to bug me about this? Sounds like you had your own troubles against him."
"He's only alive because he wasn't a priority," Fancy Dan said. "Right now, he's your priority. Get the job done, or you can forget about not only your pay, but also your freedom!"
"Yeah, yeah, I'll get the job done by the weekend," Stanko said. "That so-called hero sounds like a punk kid.
Without another word, he hung up, groaning to himself. "Pain in the neck. Finding that kid won't be tough. Given how old he sounds, I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up at that Father-Son picnic event. That will be my ticket to bring that punk kid down."
Later on, near the edge of the city, Lincoln had just swapped into his normal clothes, with Christina not too far away.
"Remember, I'm just a phone call away," Lincoln said, stepping out of the bushes. "If there's any trouble, come and find me immediately."
"I will," Christina reassured.
"Let me know if you see the Rhino, and call me if he causes trouble," Lincoln urged.
"Yeah, I got it Lincoln," Christina said. "I can handle patrol alone for a bit. If anything I'll just be out for another hour. Not a long time."
"Hey a lot can happen in an hour," Lincoln reminded. "Don't let your guard down, and don't be shy about calling if you really need help."
"I got it, Lincoln," Christina said. "Now move along, don't keep Chloe waiting."
"Got it, well good luck out there," Lincoln said. "And make sure you stay in contact with Stella too, she can save your life in an emergency."
Christina grumbled in annoyance, "It's sweet how much you worry, but it's starting to get overbearing. Seriously, let me handle this."
"Right, I guess I am a bit worried," Lincoln admitted. "I just don't want anything bad happening to you."
"Again, that's sweet, but you gotta trust me a bit," Christina said. "I'll call you once I'm done to let you know things worked out."
"Okay, I'll trust you," Lincoln said, quickly making his leave. "See ya!"
"Bye Linc!" Christina flew off, keeping an eye out just in case. "That's the most protective Lincoln has been. I guess it makes sense, he is a hero. Plus what happened to Jordan might have bothered him more than we thought."
A bit later, Lincoln had arrived at Chloe's house, knocking on the door. Within seconds, the girl in question had answered, a bright smile coming onto her face. "Lincoln! You made it!"
"Hey Chloe," Lincoln greeted. "Ready for your tutoring?"
"Yeah, just in time too, I got a quiz in a couple of days," Chloe said. "It's on the Periodic Table."
"Oh, a tricky concept, but not too tricky if you know what to do," Lincoln said, grabbing his notes. "Let's set up."
"Sure," Chloe said, clearing a table and placing her notes down.
"Alright, let's start with some basics," Lincoln said, pulling out a sheet. "Now, let's start with some basics. You know what the H stands for, right?"
"Hydrogen?" Chloe asked.
"Exactly, very simple," Lincoln said. "Some are a bit easier to remember since the letters chosen add up. For example, Ca is for Calcium. First two letters."
"Yeah, that sounds easy," Chloe said.
"Some might throw you off though," Lincoln said. "Can you guess the letters for Sodium?"
"Uh...So?" Chloe asked.
"It's actually Na," Lincoln said.
"Uh, how does that equate to Sodium?" Chloe asked. "There isn't an 'N' or an 'A'."
"That's when things get a bit tricky," Lincoln said. "Now, I suggest we first review each element, then we can focus a few on the common ones. Those are usually what we get quizzed on."
"Gonna be hard to cram this all in within a few days," Chloe said.
"You won't need to cram, I'll teach you what you need to know," Lincoln said. "It sounds daunting, but it's doable."
"Easy for the science kid to say," Chloe said. "The Perodic Table is basically a foreign language to me."
"You can do it, just be confident," Lincoln said, pulling out some index cards. "We'll make a few Flash Cards, those usually work."
"Sure," Chloe said. "Gotta say, you're really confident. I always took your sister Lisa as the family genius. Clyde says she's already in college."
"She does lectures at college, but she still goes through school," Lincoln said. "Right now, she's in the second grade. Skipping ahead just doesn't do it for her. Plus, she likes being in the same class as her friend Darcy."
"That's cute," Chloe said. "So, has Lisa tutored you at all in science?"
"Not exactly, I already had an interest, even before Lisa was born," Lincoln said. "We do research it together though, and we help each other. I'm one of the only ones in the family who understands her science talk."
"Science talk?" Chloe asked.
"Like, for example, instead of saying 'water', Lisa is likely to say 'H2O'," Lincoln explained. "Honestly, it's kind of silly when Lisa uses scientific terms to explain day to day things. Stuff like that can actually make you sound less intelligent, because you're not showing proper human communication."
"I can imagine something like that gets old soon," Chloe said.
"Still, keep the H2O thing in mind, it is part of what we'll be studying regarding the Periodic Table," Lincoln said. "How intense do you expect your quiz to be?"
"Hopefully not too bad, the teacher is still in the early phases of teaching us this stuff," Chloe said. "Then again, school is unpredictable."
"It is, for now show me your notes and we'll figure this all out," Lincoln said. In the back of his mind, he still worried about his sidekick being out there. "I really hope Christina is doing well."
Meanwhile at The Loud House, Lana was sitting on the couch, flipping through some TV Channels. As she did so, she felt someone sitting next to her. The girl turned to see Sam.
"Hey Lana, how's it going?" Sam asked.
"I'm fine," Lana said.
"We saw you with Spider-Man and that Rhino," Sam said, then gestured to Benny. "We were really concerned."
"Yeah, it must have been scary experiencing that," Benny said.
"Not really, I got nerves of steel," Lana said.
"Well, what was it like hanging out with Spider-Man?" Lana asked.
"Uh, it was fine," Lana said. "He's not much for conversation, he just swings in and saves the day."
"That's badass," Sam said. "If I'm being honest, I'd like to chat with him myself."
"Same, I want to see if he'd be willing to join a play," Benny said.
"Or join our band," Sam said. "People would pay well to see something so gnarly."
"I bet he's a great actor," Benny said. "Though the costume may be limiting for some of his performances, unless we work around that."
"I just want to see if he can rock a guitar," Sam said, doing some air guitar motions. "Show a bit of that radioactive savviness."
"Those are some ambitious goals," Lana said. "Still, I think Spidey just wants to stick with the hero work."
"Nothing wrong with branching out," Sam said. "Even The Avengers have hobbies. At least I think so."
"Hobbies and careers," Benny said. "It's always good to think about this kind of stuff."
"Especially hobbies you can turn into careers," Sam said. "Like guitars!"
"I already have my career in mind," Lana said. "I'm going to work as a plumber and an electrician."
"You certainly have the talent for it," Benny said.
"Anyway, speaking of guitars, my buddy and I still gotta work with Luna and Luan regarding our new project," Sam said.
"What project?" Lana asked.
"I'm writing my own play, and the Moon Goats are going to perform the soundtrack," Benny said. "It's going to be a play about a brave hero who rescues a princess."
"Brave hero rescuing a princess?" Lana asked. "Something about that sounds familiar."
"I'll admit, some of the excitement regarding Spider-Man has me interested," Benny said. "So I'm making my own story, which is why I hoped to get him in for the play. He'd be great as the hero."
"I'd love to hear what type of music he'd like done for him," Sam said. "I kind of wish I got a reaction from him after Luna wrote that Spider-Man song."
"I bet he likes it," Lana said.
"Yeah, I can see it," Sam said. "Still, having that confirmation would rule."
"Here's hoping we have a chance to talk to him," Benny said. "Preferably without our lives being in danger."
"One can only hope," Lana said.
"Ahem..." Lola called, everyone turning to see both her and Cricket. "Benny, I hear that you're working on your own play, one that requires a Princess. Any chance you're holding auditions?"
"Well, yeah, that is the plan," Benny said.
"That's good to know, because I might know someone who would absolutely love to be part of your little play," Lola said. "Especially if you need a Princess."
"Or two," Cricket said.
"Uh, that sounds great," Benny hesitantly said.
"I can bring a certain appeal to your show," Lola said, posing for the boy. "After all, I am quite sexy for my age."
"Right..." Benny said, not sure how to respond.
"You can see it, can't you?" Lola asked. "Remember my Kunoichi outfit from Halloween? It really brought out my butt, and that is what boys like."
"I personally never understood that, but boys can be weird sometimes," Cricket said.
"Hey!" Benny replied.
"Lola, aren't you eight?" Sam asked. "Why are you talking like this? It's not very appropriate."
"Not my fault I'm an early bloomer, I got good genes," Lola said, turning to leave, but not without one final glance at Benny, wiggling her butt a little. "Think about it, handsome."
"Uh..." Benny looked taken back by this. Even after Lola left with Cricket, the awkwardness remained. "Was she trying to flirt with me or something?"
"I'm worried about her, let's make sure she doesn't do anything stupid," Sam said.
"I'll let Lincoln know, he's good at keeping Lola under control," Lana said.
"Where is Lincoln?" Benny asked.
"I think he's off tutoring a girl," Lana said, then thought to herself. "Or he might still be patrolling. Hope he's alright."
"A girl huh? Anyone we might know?" Sam asked, shifting her eyebrows.
"Her name's Chloe, I think she's dating Clyde," Lana said.
"Lincoln's tutoring his best friend's girl?" Sam asked. "Man, the trust they must have. Lincoln's such a handsome guy, he could have any girl he wants."
"But, he's also nice and respectful, so there's nothing to worry about," Benny said.
"I don't think Lincoln wants to date, it's a complicated subject for him," Lana said.
"Don't blame him," Sam said. "But maybe he needs a little guidance. I can help with that, and maybe Benny can too."
"That sounds like a lack of confidence," Benny said. "I am quite good with girls. I do emanate a strong sense of manliness."
"Uh-huh, sure you do," Sam teased.
"I do!" Benny insisted. "I'm super manly! Lola just hit on me!"
"You mean the eight-year-old?" Sam replied. "Kind of desperate."
"Wow, the disrespect," Benny lamented.
Lola chuckled to herself at the display, while still thinking of her brother. "I hope Lincoln finds another girl soon. He deserves to have someone."
At her office, Rita was getting ready to go home. The woman looked a bit exhausted, having worked a bit more than normal today.
"What a day, I hope Lynn has dinner ready," Rita said. "Oh what am I saying? Of course he does."
"Going home, Rita?" Came Jameson's voice, the man walking into the office.
"Yes sir, I got everything I needed to ready for tomorrow," Rita said.
"Let me take a peak," Jameson checked over Rita's work, quickly analyzing her article. "Not bad, but, what about the Spider-Man part?"
"Spider-Man? He hasn't done anything big since the Rhino incident," Rita said.
"Come on, you know how it works!" Jameson said. "You see a Spider-Man story, you don't just leave it as a one-time thing, you stretch it out! Like, maybe he's collaborating with that Rhino, ready to strike again! You never know."
"Sir, please, I really don't want to worry people more than they are," Rita said. "That's why I focused on some positives, like the upcoming father-son picnic."
"Father-son picnic?" Jameson asked.
"Didn't you know? It's a big event in Royal Woods where fathers and sons team up for some friendly competition," Rita said. "My husband, Lynn, plans to attend with our son, Lincoln."
"Hm, I see," Jameson said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "Well, that's good. I'm glad those fathers have something to look forward to."
"We should attend, I'm going to support my husband and son, but maybe you can use a nice picnic yourself," Rita said. "Take your mind off the stress."
"Yeah, I'll think about it," Jameson said. "Well...goodnight Rita."
"Goodnight, sir," Rita said, curiously thinking over what happened. "He sounded a bit sad, wonder why?"
Rita made her leave, Jameson taking one last look over the article, the man looking a bit disappointed, "Really would have been a great time. Can't be helped I guess."
The weekend of the picnic had come, the Loud Family had gathered in Ketcham Park for the Father-Son Picnic. Lynn Sr and Lincoln went to compete while Rita and the Loud Sisters went to cheer them on.
All of the sisters were there, including Lori, who had come to visit from Great Lakes.
Lincoln was currently on his phone, taking part in a three-way call with Stella and Christina, confirming things with both girls.
"So you're absolutely sure you can handle it, Christina?" Lincoln asked.
"For the last time, I'll be fine," Christina said. "It's just one afternoon."
"And I'll be there to guide her," Stella said. "You have nothing to worry about, Lincoln."
"It's hard not to worry about my sidekick," Lincoln said. "I'm not comfortable with the idea of Christina potentially getting hurt."
"Have a little more faith in me," Christina said. "Everything will be okay, so don't worry about me. I can handle a few thugs."
"It's not the thugs I'm worried about," Lincoln said. "Rhino hasn't been seen since the other day, he's still roaming around out there. I don't feel right staying here when I could be looking for him."
"You've been looking all week, you've earned a break," Stella insisted.
"Yeah, you've been heroing for a while now, when's the last time you got to just have fun?" Christina asked.
"I've had fun, just the other day I beat my High Score in The Muscle Fish Arcade Mode, then I did a speedrun of Total Trash Takedown in near record time," Lincoln said.
"Well you can have a bit more fun," Stella said.
"Later you can tell us all about it," Christina said.
"Sure, that sounds great," Lincoln said. "But, if you see Rhino, call me immediately. He's too dangerous to fight alone."
"Have faith in me, Lincoln," Christina said. "After all, my heatwave skills are pretty...Lit."
Neither Lincoln nor Stella found humor in that, if anything they felt very ashamed of the poorly made pun.
"Leave the wise cracks to me," Lincoln said.
"Or neither of you can do it, because neither of you are all that funny," Stella said.
"Wow, rude much?" Lincoln replied.
"Everyone's a critic," Christina commented.
"Also, I am funny, I have jokes," Lincoln said.
"Yeah, ones you take from Luan," Stella said. "You don't even deliver them as well as she does."
"...Gee, thanks Stella," Lincoln lamented. "Seriously though Christina, just be careful, and please don't get hurt."
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Christina reassured. Stella and I will keep you in the loop. I'll see you later."
"Bye for now, Lincoln," Stella said. "And don't forget to hold back so you don't accidentally expose your powers."
"I have it under control," Lincoln said. Both girls then hung up, leaving Lincoln feeling a little worried. "Really hope things turn out alright."
"Yo! Lincoln!" Lynn called. "This way!"
Lincoln placed his phone away, curiously approaching his sister, "Hey Lynn, did you need something?"
"The competition's going to start soon, so I'm here to make sure you're in tip-top shape," Lynn said. "A few warm-ups should suffice, really get that blood pumping."
"Nothing too intense right?" Lincoln asked. "I don't want to pull a muscle before competing."
"Come on bro, I know you're a bit more fragile than most..." Lynn began, already irritating Lincoln. "But I think I can get you ready without a fear of injury. Just a few stretches to get your blood flowing."
Lincoln was ready to agree, but recalled something he learned from Natasha during one of his training sessions with her.
"Warmups are good, but always be weary of stretching too much before you do anything physical. It tightens the muscles rather than loosening them."
Lincoln snapped back to reality, hoping to pass on what he knows, "Actually Lynn, I was told once that stretching is actually bad for warm-ups."
"You were probably told by one of those pansies who don't eat real meat," Lynn said. "I know how to work out before an event, so trust me on this."
"Uh, alright," Lincoln said to himself. "Good thing I can't get hurt that easily like that anyway. But I am worried about Lynn."
Meanwhile Lori, who had brought Bobby along, was chatting with Leni, Luna and Luan, all three girls bringing attention to their oldest sister about the newest threat.
"Another villain?" Lori asked. "And it's literally a rhinoceros?"
"Yeah, dude caused major damage on the highway the other day," Luna said. "Vanzilla nearly got thrashed."
"It was scary for sure, I thought Benny was going to wet his pants," Luan said.
"This place has become really dangerous," Bobby said, turning to yet another guest that Lori had brought over. "Wonder if it's too late to bring Adelaide home?"
"No one's heard from him in days, maybe he gave up and left?" Luan said.
"I just hope he didn't make some super-secret deal with Spider-Man or something," Leni said.
"Oh, don't start with that, Leni," Luna said. "You sound like mom's boss."
"Well he's not exactly wrong, a lot of bad things happened because of Spider-Man," Leni said.
"Spider-Man didn't make bad things happen, if anything he prevents them from getting worse," Luan said.
"Well let's hope Spider-Man keeps everyone safe," Bobby said. "It was very difficult of Adelaide to convince her parents to bring her here. If anything bad happens, they might not let her come back."
"She'll be fine, besides Great Lakes had trouble too," Luna said.
"Once, with that lizard creature," Lori said. "Royal Woods gets so much more for some reason."
"Hey, lots of cities have dangerous threats," Luan said. "New York City has plenty, and so does Stamford, Connecticut."
"Trouble's been rising in Chicago," Luna said. "I think there's been issues in California too."
"Point is, it's not really fair to blame Spider-Man, if anything we're lucky we have a superhero," Luan said.
"You always say that we're lucky, but I don't feel lucky with Spider-Man around," Leni said.
"And you always have something negative to say about Spider-Man," Luan said. "It honestly gets very tiring."
"Not as tiring as hearing you praise him," Leni said.
"We wouldn't have to if you didn't have some rude remark to say about him every other day," Luna said. "It's barely anything new, just 'Spider-Man is bad, and I know it because Jameson said so', like for real. Come up with your own lyrics instead of covering another band."
"Uh...I thought we were talking about Spider-Man?" Leni asked.
"It's a metaphor, Leni," Luna said. "Geez, how'd you get into college?"
Leni puffed her cheeks in annoyance, "At least I'm in college, you were just about ready to skip out until-"
"I met Spider-Man, he got me to reconsider the idea," Luna said. "Still think he's a bad guy?"
Leni turned away in annoyance, "Like, whatever Luna."
"It's great that you're considering college, just pick a good one," Bobby said. "Otherwise you'll be wasting your time on a degree that's going to get you nowhere."
"I'm not looking for anything fancy, I might just do a couple of years at the Community College," Luna said. "I won't get a Bachelor's, but I'll be fine with an Associate's Degree. This way if I need a job, I can prove to the higher ups that I got some smarts in the old noggin."
"Well, at least we're talking college, which is normal," Lori said.
"Lori, we're teenagers trying to enjoy life, how is talking about college normal?" Luan asked.
"Because it takes the conversation away from Spider-Man, that's something Lincoln would be talking about," Lori said. "Speaking of Lincoln, I heard he had another breakup."
"Who told you about that?" Luna asked. "Furthermore, who told you he even had a girlfriend?"
Leni nervously whistled, much to the annoyance of both Luna and Luan.
"Figures..." Luan said, before focusing on Lori. "Yes, Lincoln was with a girl, but she had to move due to that Green Goblin creature."
"He took her hostage to use as leverage against Spider-Man," Luna said. "So she's obviously a little shaken up."
"Come to think of it, it's not the first time she was in danger, I remember when The Vulture tried holding her hostage as well," Luan said. "Plus there's also the fact that her uncle turned out to be a supervillain as well."
"She's been through a lot, so she needs a little time off," Luna said.
"Well, I do sympathize with the poor girl," Lori said. "But I also sympathize with Lincoln. Too bad Ronnie Anne couldn't come. This would have been the perfect opportunity to-"
"Oh give it a rest, Lori," Luna interrupted. "Seriously, it's really pissing me off that you're so focused on forcing Lincoln to be with Ronnie Anne. No offense to Bobby, but this isn't what our little bro needs."
"I'm kind of with Luna on this, babe," Bobby said. "Ronnie Anne isn't even interested."
"She is, she just doesn't know it," Lori said.
Bobby groaned in annoyance, "Even so, she's not going to be able to handle a long-distance relationship, and I'd rather she not try."
"You just need a little more confidence in her," Lori said. "I guarantee that in a few weeks' time, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne will be madly in love with one another."
"You know, if you and Bobby get married, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne will be considered in-laws," Luan said. "Still think it's a good idea for them to get married?"
"What difference does it make?" Lori asked. "There's no rule saying they can't get married. Honestly I consider myself lucky knowing that my boyfriend has a little sister who happens to be the same age as my only brother, and given how many siblings I have, I'd say that makes it even more special. It's literally destiny that Lincoln and Ronnie Anne get married."
"Seems like a bit of a stretch," Luna said. "Plus, what if Ronnie Anne isn't into boys? She could be into girls. Just like me."
"She's not, right Bobby?" Lori asked.
"Not that I know of," Bobby said. "She doesn't talk much about crushes. But I feel like if she was, we'd know. She does spend a lot of time with Sid, and I think Sid's expressed curiosity about girls."
"Sid's gay?" Luna asked. "Or Bi?"
"Well I know she does like boys, she has a crush on that Twelve is Midnight member, Yun Kwan," Bobby said. "And she's called Lincoln 'cute' a few times."
"That I have heard..." Lori bitterly said. "Hopefully she's a good best friend, not the type to cuck anyone."
"Sid wouldn't hurt Ronnie Anne, she cares too much about her to do so," Bobby said. "But I have heard Sid mention a few times that she found Stella cute. She could mean it in a non-romantic way though. I think girls do that, don't they?"
"Oh totally, I've called Sam 'cute' a few times, it's not romantic since I'm only into boys," Luan said. "Sam knows that too, and she still likes the compliment."
"Wow, and you're okay with that, Luna?" Lori asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Luna asked. "I trust Sam, and I trust Luan. Plus Sam isn't even into Luan, she told me herself. She also thinks she and Benny look cute together and wouldn't want anything coming between them."
"Funny, Benny says you and Sam look cute together too," Luan said.
"I think I'm well aware of that, Luan," Luna said, coyly smirking at her sister. "I'm sure neither of us has forgotten that one time..."
"Right..." Luan said, recalling the first time she and Benny saw Luna and Luan getting intimate with one another.
"Ahem..." Lori got their attention. "I'd be careful where you lead this conversation. Keep in mind that Sam and Benny are still on some thin ice when it comes to me."
"Uh, right," Luna nervously said. "Point is, girls can find each other cute without it being romantic."
"I've always thought Dana looked cute, but I'm not into her that way," Leni said.
"Kind of interesting that girls can be more open," Bobby said. "Me, I can never compliment a guy's looks without feeling weird."
"Boys and girls are just built differently," Luna said. "It's easier for girls to be open than guys. There's exceptions to the rule, but that's how it usually is."
"I guess, personally I still don't understand girls too much," Bobby said.
"It's fine, just be nice to us and we'll be nice to you," Luna said.
"But don't be a pushover," Luan said. "Girls like a guy who's caring, but tough."
"Right..." Bobby turned to Lori. "Do I fit that mold?"
"Bobby, you're fine just how you are," Lori said, kissing her boyfriend on the cheek.
"Uh, thanks babe," Bobby nervously said. He focused back on Luna and Luan, "So, where are Sam and Benny?"
"Benny's working on his own play, and Sam's writing music for it," Luan said. "They're handling both together so it meshes well."
"Wow, it's great that Sam and Benny are getting along well," Bobby said.
"We've gone on enough double dates that Sam and Benny have built a bond of their own," Luna said.
"Just make sure it doesn't go too deep," Lori said. "Don't want them fooling around together."
"Uh, wow Lori, that was very blunt," Luan said. "I like to think I can trust my boyfriend."
"I can trust Sam too, she's barely into guys anyway," Luna said.
"Doesn't she like Thor?" Luan asked.
"Just his hair, I don't think she actually finds him romantically attractive," Luna said. "Even if she did like boys, I trust her with Benny."
"I love that confidence," Bobby said. "Still, a play? That's amazing."
"It's about a hero who rescues a Princess," Luan said. "I think he got the idea from what happened to me on Halloween. He even said he'd love for Spider-Man to be part of that play."
"I wouldn't watch that," Lori said, much to her sisters' annoyance.
"Me neither," Leni agreed.
"Wow, okay, not even if I was in it?" Leni asked. "Or if Luna sang for it?"
"You both deserve better than that," Lori said.
"Bruh..." Luna commented.
"Uh..." Bobby nervously looked around for a distraction. "Hey, there's Lincoln!"
Nearby, Lincoln was doing some stretches with Lynn, the girl doing her best to motivate him along.
"Come on Lincoln, are you really going to accept a loss? Or are you going to fight for your victory!?" Lynn shouted.
"Lynn, chill, it's just a picnic," Lincoln said.
"Don't give me that excuse, you maggot!" Lynn shouted. "Every competition is important! No one wants to go home a loser!"
Lincoln rolled his eyes, then spotted someone waving from nearby. "Oh, hi Bobby! And you too Lori!"
"Focus!" Lynn shouted. "Those two can wait!"
"Ugh, fine," Lincoln said, continuing his stretching.
"Wow, Lynn's really got him busy," Bobby said.
"Yeah...too bad Ronnie Anne isn't here to see such athleticism," Lori said, earning an angry glare from Luna and Luan, and a worried one from Bobby.
This loud training caught the attention of Lola and Lana, the two girls glancing in shame at their older sister.
"Poor Linky, he can't even have fun without Lynn ruining it in some way," Lola said. "She gets way too competitive."
"Tell me about it, and if Lincoln does lose, she will probably take it as a personal insult," Lana said.
"Of course, Lynn does love making it about herself," Lola said. "And everyone says I'm vain."
"Hey girls," came Adelaide's voice, the girl standing behind the two, happily waving.
"Adelaide!" Lola ran over to hug her friend. "I'm so happy you're here!"
"Me too," Lana said, going to hug her as well, sandwiching Adelaide between the Loud Twins.
"Any chance I can see you girls is a chance I will happily take," Adelaide said as the hug was released. "When Lori comes by, that's my opportunity to convince her to let me come."
"Aw, you're such a loyal friend," Lola said.
"I just love seeing your pretty faces," Adelaide said, gently pinching each of their cheeks. "Seriously, you girls are super cute!"
"I'm more than cute, sweetheart," Lola boasted as she placed her hand behind her head. "I'm downright gorgeous."
"Personally, I hate being called 'cute', but I can make an exception for you," Lana said.
"Hey, you're sharing my face, and you still hate being called cute?" Lola asked.
"You said it yourself once, I'm not cute," Lana said. "Which is fine, because I don't want to be."
"I don't see why, you're so easy to look at," Adelaide said. "You just need a little more self-confidence."
"It's no big deal," Lana said.
"Hey, I heard a rumor that there's a human rhinoceros somewhere in Royal Woods," Adelaide said. "Is it true?"
"Very true, he was chasing me and Spider-Man the other day," Lana said.
"You and Spider-Man!?" Adelaide asked in disbelief. "That sounds scary!"
"It was, a little," Lana admitted. "But I had nothing but trust for Spider-Man. And we got away just fine."
"Except that Rhino guy is still out there," Lola said. "Spider-Man didn't do a good job in catching him."
"He did his best, Lola," Lana said, holding back some frustration. "Sometimes Spider-Man struggles, but he pulls it off."
"It's true, rarely does he lose and stay down," Adelaide said. "I can't even think of a time a villain got away."
"Well, that Goblin creature got away, and so did that sabretooth tiger," Lola said.
"Alright, so he's down by a bit, but he still tries," Lana said. "And he's beaten plenty of bad guys. So I trust that he will stop The Rhino."
"Well, I'm glad you're safe, Lana," Adelaide said. "Still, hearing about you being in danger really makes me worried. I don't want to come here one day and find out you really got hurt."
"Don't worry Addy, I won't go down that easily," Lana said, then took Adelaide by the hand. "Come on, let's go cheer on my brother."
"Ooh, I can't wait to see him compete, I bet he's in great shape," Adelaide said, a blush forming on her face. "Uh, does he have a girlfriend still?"
"I wouldn't ask about that right now," Lola said.
"Oh, um, okay," Adelaide said. "By the way, are Cricket and Meli here?"
"Cricket's practicing for a big pageant," Lola said. "Meli is visiting some relatives. So, it's just us."
"That's fine, you girls are more than enough," Adelaide said.
"Much appreciated, honey," Lola said, taking Adelaide's other hand. "Let's hurry before all the good seats are taken."
Nearby, Rita is seen helping her husband get motivated, "You got this dear, but remember the most important thing."
"Yeah, win!" Lynn Sr said.
"No dear, have fun," Rita said.
"Right, having fun is more important," Lynn Sr said. "It's great having this bonding moment with Lincoln. Once kids become teenagers, they want less to do with their parents, so I gotta squeeze in what I can."
"Got that right," Jameson said, the man walking over while puffing a cigar, much to the discomfort of the Loud Parents. "Good on you for wanting a chance to bond with your son. Good on this place for giving fathers that opportunity."
"Oh totally, I love events like these," Lynn said. "I remember back when I was an IT specialist, my favorite event was always 'Take your daughter to work day'. Me and my girls had such a fun time. Now with my restaurant, I can do that all the time. My daughters are such hard workers too, really makes this old man proud."
Rita chuckled to herself, "I remember those days where you brought the girls to work. One time I remember bringing Lincoln to me to work back when I still had a job at the Dentist Office."
"You worked with a dentist?" Jameson asked.
"Oh didn't I ever tell you? Before I got my job at the Royal Woods Gazette, I was an assistant at the Dentist's office," Rita said.
"Before that, she was a Crossing Guard, it's actually how I met Rita," Lynn Sr said.
"Well now, that's impressive," Jameson said. "Sounds like you two have had quite a few ventures in the workplace."
"Sure have, and I'm so happy I got my restaurant," Lynn Sr said. "It was always a dream of mine, and it was important to show my kids that dreams are work fighting for. I am very passionate about cooking too, I've even been on a cooking show at least once."
"Oh yes, we've even met Guy Grazer," Rita said. "He is a very loud man."
"Oof, must be a pain talking to someone so loud," Jameson said, earning a deadpanned glare from Rita. "Still, I respect the passion. I can see why your daughters are so ambitious, they have a good role model."
"Aw, thank you sir," Lynn Sr said. "Well, I better get ready."
"Good luck dear," Rita said, sharing a kiss with her husband as the man went to the field. "I love it when he's happy."
"And there's plenty to be happy about," Jameson said, glancing around and seeing all their fathers with their sons. "Can't see a single thing to be down about."
Rita noticed a change in Jameson's demeanor, once again curious by his reaction.
Unknown to all, Stanko was nearby, waiting for his chance to strike, and hopefully lure out Spider-Man.
However, he had some bitter feelings of his own. As he looked out to the field, he could see all the kids with their fathers, and it made him think of his own son.
"Wish you were here, Steak. But don't worry, once I destroy Spider-Man, things will get better for us," Stanko prepared himself, soon he would make his strike. "For now, the Rhino has some rampaging to do!"
The Father-Son competition would soon be underway, along with a big fight soon to come.
