Chapter 548: Six-Star Dou Zun, Hun Ya and Hun Li
In the Ancient Realm, within the Heavenly Tomb.
The land was shrouded in a thick mist, with faint lights floating around. As far as the eye could see, the entire world seemed to be wrapped in a deathly silence, devoid of any signs of life.
In a certain part of the Heavenly Tomb, two figures stood surrounded by ten or so ethereal, empty-eyed figures hovering in the air.
"Fei'er, attack!" Mo Yu shouted as he looked at the figures surrounding them, then at the graceful figure beside him.
As his shout echoed, Mo Yu's body shot out like a bolt of lightning. Simultaneously, Lei Fei'er also darted toward another direction. Her jade-like hand sparkled with lightning, striking the energy figures with lightning-fast precision.
"Boom! Boom!"
The sound of explosions echoed in the area, and even the dense mist thinned out noticeably due to the force.
The explosions continued for a moment before quickly stopping. The two figures regrouped, exchanged glances, and smiled at each other.
"Seven cores," Mo Yu said, opening his hand to reveal seven thumb-sized energy cores, each radiating dense energy.
"Six cores," Fei'er replied, extending her jade-white hand to reveal six similarly sized energy cores in her palm.
Seeing this, Lei Fei'er covered her mouth with a soft laugh and said playfully, "As expected of my husband, your strength is a bit greater than mine."
Mo Yu smiled slightly. Lei Fei'er, as the Thunder Clan leader's daughter, was not only beautiful but also incredibly powerful. Her skills were not much weaker than those of Lei Yin.
"Absorb the energy cores first. I'll guard you," Lei Fei'er said softly as she handed all the energy cores to Mo Yu.
Mo Yu didn't refuse, accepting the energy cores and quickly sitting cross-legged.
As he absorbed the cores, waves of pure energy continuously flowed out from them, surrounding Mo Yu like thick mist. With each breath, he inhaled the energy like a dragon, channeling it into his body.
"Hoo…"
It didn't take long for Mo Yu to finish absorbing the energy cores. He slowly opened his eyes and took a deep breath, pulling in the remaining energy like a dragon gulping water.
"How do you feel?" Fei'er asked, stretching with a seductive laziness that made her graceful curves all the more evident.
Seeing the beauty in front of him, Mo Yu's eyes gleamed for a moment. The two of them had already been in the Heavenly Tomb for two months, and as they spent more time together, their relationship deepened day by day.
Mo Yu had to admit, Lei Fei'er—being the Thunder Clan's princess—was exceptional in both appearance and demeanor. She had certainly earned a place in his heart.
"My strength has improved, but I'm still a bit short of reaching the six-star level. It seems we'll need to find some higher-level energy cores," Mo Yu said, shaking off his wandering thoughts.
"If that's the case, let's head to the second layer. The energy bodies there should help you break through," Fei'er suggested with a smile.
"How far is the second layer from here?"
"About a month's journey. The Heavenly Tomb has three layers, with the first being the largest. The lower layers are smaller, but the dangers increase exponentially," Lei Fei'er explained.
"A month, huh? Then let's go."
Mo Yu nodded and, with a wave of his hand, began walking deeper into the Heavenly Tomb.
Lei Fei'er followed with a smile. Although the Heavenly Tomb was dreary, being with Mo Yu made it worthwhile for this noble young lady.
...
"This is the entrance to the second layer?"
After nearly four months of travel, crossing the vast expanse of the Heavenly Tomb, Mo Yu finally saw a glowing energy wall at the far end of his vision. He muttered quietly.
"My dear husband, you're currently at the peak of five-star strength. You're on the verge of breaking through to six stars. I suggest you do that before entering the second layer; otherwise, your overflowing energy might cause instability," Fei'er advised, glancing at the large energy barrier in the distance.
Hearing this, Mo Yu thought for a moment and nodded. After four months of training in the Heavenly Tomb and absorbing hundreds, if not thousands, of energy cores, his battle energy was indeed overflowing, and he was close to breaking through to six stars.
With this in mind, Mo Yu quickly composed himself and turned to Fei'er, saying, "In that case, I'll need you to guard me again."
Fei'er smiled and nodded.
Mo Yu scanned the area, leaped onto a large boulder, and sat cross-legged.
As Mo Yu entered his cultivation state, waves of powerful battle energy began to emanate from his body, covering an area of a hundred meters around him.
Seeing Mo Yu deep in concentration, Fei'er lightly tapped her toes, gracefully leaping to another boulder nearby. She closed her eyes slightly, remaining alert to any movement within a hundred meters.
With the area falling silent again, the atmosphere became still.
Mo Yu's breakthrough took about three days. When he finally opened his eyes, his silver pupils were filled with tangible energy, swirling like a storm.
As he moved his hands, the space around him seemed to distort slightly. Mo Yu's aura had become far more powerful than before.
"Six-star Dou Zun."
Feeling the vast ocean of battle energy inside him, Mo Yu smiled faintly. He could clearly sense the increase in strength and the satisfaction that came with it.
"Four months of training have shown great results, but breaking through to seven stars will likely take much longer."
Mo Yu understood that while energy cores were incredibly beneficial, each advancement for a Dou Zun took significantly more effort.
"Congratulations, my dear husband," Lei Fei'er said with a gentle smile, relieved to see him complete his breakthrough.
"Yes, I've successfully reached six stars, thanks to you guarding me," Mo Yu smiled back. But just as he was about to continue, he suddenly sensed a cold, sinister presence. His expression darkened, and he shouted sharply.
"Who's there?!"
Hearing his shout, Fei'er's expression also tightened, and she cautiously scanned the surroundings.
As the two of them looked around, a cold breeze swept into the area.
Mo Yu sneered, "Since you're already here, why hide? Has the Soul Clan really fallen so low?"
"Hehe, as expected of the Thunder Clan's god-tier bloodline. Your senses are truly impressive," a sinister voice replied. The space in the distance rippled, and two black-robed figures slowly appeared, their chilling aura spreading around them.
The two figures, cloaked entirely in black, walked through the air and landed not far from Mo Yu and Fei'er. The leader raised his head slightly, revealing a pale, youthful face.
"Hun Ya, how dare you!" Fei'er immediately recognized him, her beautiful eyes narrowing coldly as she glared at the figure.
"Hehe, what's so daring about it? Your identity doesn't scare me in the least. In fact, I'm curious… What would happen if your dear husband—the first god-tier bloodline holder in the Thunder Clan in thousands of years—met with an unfortunate accident? How would your clan react?" Hun Ya's voice was icy and mocking.
"Just you?" Mo Yu stepped forward, shielding Fei'er behind him, and sneered. "Even Hun Feng lost to me. What makes you think you're any different?"
"Hun Feng, our young master?" Hun Ya's face changed, shocked as he looked at Mo Yu.
Hun Feng was one of the few god-tier bloodline holders in the Soul Clan, holding a very high status. Yet, he had lost to Mo Yu.
Even Lei Fei'er was surprised, glancing at the tall, lean figure standing in front of her. She had heard of Hun Feng's fame as one of the continent's top talents, but to think Mo Yu had defeated him…
At that moment, Lei Fei'er couldn't help but admire her husband's extraordinary talent.
"Hmph! Don't talk nonsense! Our young master Hun Feng is extremely talented. There's no way he could lose to you!" Hun Ya's face twisted with anger before turning into a sinister grin. "Hun Li, let's finish him off!"
"Yes."
The other black-robed figure, Hun Li, nodded slowly. He removed his hood, revealing a face covered in scars. Beneath the many wounds, his cold, emotionless eyes locked onto Mo Yu, flashing with bloodthirsty intent.
Hun Ya sneered at Mo Yu. "Even if you possess a god-tier bloodline, I doubt you can handle the combined assault of two eight-star Dou Zuns!"
Mo Yu's expression remained calm. Protecting Fei'er behind him, he unleashed his power. Terrifying streaks of purple-gold lightning began swirling around him.
"Boom!"
As soon as Mo Yu's body was surrounded by the purple-gold lightning, Hun Li's foot slammed into the ground, propelling him forward like lightning. His icy fist, emanating a chilling aura, shot directly toward Mo Yu.
In response, Mo Yu's eyes grew cold. His hand shot out like a bolt of lightning, smashing through the air and meeting Hun Li's fist head-on.
"Boom!"
When their attacks collided, the force shattered the ground beneath them. Hun Li staggered back two steps, his feet leaving cracks in the earth.
Though slightly on the losing side, Hun Li wasn't angered. Instead, a twisted grin spread across his face. His body blurred as he charged again, attacking with such ferocity that the very space around them began to warp.
Facing Hun Li's relentless assault, Mo Yu didn't retreat an inch. His body was shrouded in the Primordial Thunder, radiating an overwhelming primal force. He stood like a purple-gold war god, meeting each of Hun Li's strikes with his own, making Hun Li's body shudder with every punch.
The battle raged on, but it was clear that Hun Li was gradually losing ground. With each exchange, Mo Yu's fighting spirit only grew stronger, while Hun Li's aura weakened.
After knocking Hun Li back with a powerful strike, Mo Yu turned swiftly, his hand forming a fist. Purple-gold lightning transformed into a whip, shooting out from his sleeve with a loud crack!
As the lightning whip shot forward, the space rippled. A sinister black chain, like a venomous snake, shot out from the void, colliding with the whip in a burst of sparks and hissing sounds.
"Thud!"
However, the fierce clash left Hun Li's body trembling violently. His blood churned, and his organs seemed to shift from the impact. Blood spurted from his mouth as he was sent flying backward like a kite with its string cut.
"I told you—you're worthless. Since you're here, leave your life behind!" Mo Yu's voice was cold as he shook his hand. The purple-gold lightning whip morphed into a spear, which he hurled with incredible force toward Hun Li's head.
"Boom!"
Just as the spear was about to pierce Hun Li's head, a gust of wind slammed into Hun Li's body, pushing him out of the spear's path. Instead of his head, the spear pierced his shoulder.
"Thud!"
The purple-gold spear embedded itself deep into Hun Li's shoulder, carrying him with it. His body was flung into the ground, creating a large crater as the impact caused the earth to sink by half a meter.
A terrifying gust of wind spread from the crater, and a black figure flashed over like a ghost.
Staring at the bloodied Hun Li, whose shoulder now had a gaping wound, Hun Ya's face darkened.
Without hesitation, Hun Ya's hand turned into a blade, and he slashed it down. Blood splattered as he severed Hun Li's left arm. The arm had been completely corroded by the Primordial Qi, and keeping it would have only led to further decay.
Hun Li, however, remained stoic, clenching his teeth and making no sound despite the intense pain.
"Mo Yu, you may have won today, but don't think this is over!" Hun Ya spat venomously, grabbing the severely injured Hun Li. His gaze was filled with malice as he glared at Mo Yu.
Mo Yu's strength had exceeded their expectations, leaving them no choice but to retreat and plan their revenge for another time.
With that decision, thick black mist erupted from Hun Ya's body. Countless twisted soul bodies shot out from the mist, exploding with a deafening roar.
The violent soul explosions created a shockwave that forced Mo Yu back a few steps. With a wave of his hand, Mo Yu summoned purple-gold lightning to incinerate the black mist. But by the time the mist cleared, Hun Ya and Hun Li were already gone.
"They ran pretty fast," Mo Yu scoffed coldly.
