Tovara, the Island of Scholars. The West Blue.
A 10 km island that was a flat plain with a few dotted thick forests. The fields, despite being so small, were vibrant and filled with tall grass and wildflowers. It wasn't uncommon to see people walking through the fields and picking the flowers, while others planted brand new ones. Small wire fences where their own special flowers were held.
Gardens weren't an Uncommon sight on the this small islands. Almost everyone had one. But they weren't in the yards of houses, no, the people of Tovara lived in one place predominantly.
The Tree Alexandria. A Massive tree that was over 5,000 years old. And was like a Red wood at the wood, with the branches furling high into the air like a dragon tree, but having the leaves of an oak. It was enormous. Almost 3 Km in radius and went up almost a kilometer into the sky.
Small holes pockmarked the surface in patterns and rhythm one after another. Small vines hanging out of them, or having cages or balconies. These were the homes of the Tovarans, built into the Tree almost like houses on the inside with multiple rooms and some even have multiple floors to single units
While there were other Buildings that dotted the surrounding trunk of the Tree, made up of wood from fallen branches from Alexandria.
Tovara was Famous for it's scholars. Having the Largest Library in the Entire World. Entire kilometers of books, tomes, scrolls, tablets, novels, any thing that could hold information was held at Tovara, people would travel long distances just to add a book to their collection of Knowledge, even one Theodore Lantis' books were in this vast Bibliography.
Iris walked down a paved path of cobblestone with small buildings around her. Other Tovarans watching as she walked.
"Seems like Raven was out readin in the Forest again." Spoke an old man with a long spindly pipe. An older woman next to him in a rocking chair "That child. There's something wicked about her."
"She's always wearing those dark, horrid clothes." The woman spoke as she flipped through a news paper. "And that cursed Devil Fruit. Those nasty tiny hands…" Spoke the man.
This was a silent, but close to common consensus about Iris' daughter. Some strayed away from the child, others kept to themselves. But many accepted her as just a strange child with a strange quirk about herself. Given that her Mother, Iris, was the Head Archeologist and Bibliographer of Tovara, there was only so much contempt people could hold before the reputation of her mother outweighed it
"Ah Iris!" Spoke a man from a table as he had dozens of papers scattered around him on a table, in the back of the library where only the Tovaran Scholars resided. Looking over, transcribing and recording books. There were others such as Librarians and Book Keepers, but the Scholars were the most revered and exclusive group.
The man was in the middle of a preservation project, and at the stage of analysis going over the book with bare hands, gloves being far too risky to rip the pages, and identifying the contents and cataloging it's findings inside, transcribing it, and then making sure its peer reviewed and kept safe while another copy was free to look over.
He wore a knit brown sweater with a bright pink button ups collar popping out of the neck, his face was old and wrinkled, predominant laugh lines and crows feet adorned his face, with round large gold framed spectacles with wire ear hooks. The ridge of the glasses with nose pads and bifocals. The out fit finished with black slacks and leather shoes
His hair was long, completely grey, running down his and flowing off his shoulders with a bun in the back.
This was Professor Emmett. The Previous Head Scholar before Iris took over the position.
"And Hello little Raven" Emmett said, giving the kid a pinch on the cheek. Raven grimaced and recoiled. "Aww, come now rav, give me that big mig I've seen before!"
"Beshihi!" Emmet gave a funny face, crossing his eyes poking his tongue and touching his nose while his hands flapped at the side of his head.
"Heh, Hehehe!" Raven close eyed wide tooth smile with a small giggle
"There she is!" Emmet said, hoisting her from her mothers arms, and holding her in his own. "So Miss Raven, are you ready to continue some studying tonight? Todays a big day for you!"
"Script Day!" Raven said, raising her hands into the air. Since she was six, she'd been training to become a scholar of Tovara.
The Two entered into a room, after getting through a dozen locks, the far back of the Tree of Alexandria where the old archives were. A Large room with the oldest known text sprawling across the walls shelves and inside boxes, huge tomes. But it was the object at the far end of the room that was the most important piece of history they had.
The solid, giant cube known as a Poneglyph.
Raven's eyes widened as she saw it. It was the first time ever peering upon the ancient object. Having only ever seen sketches and manuscripts before hand. She hopped from Emmetts arms and ran down the hall to the very end, eyes gazing up to the large stone.
"Whats it say Raven." Iris said, sauntering up to her daughter, arms crossed with a soft smile
The Child's eyes absorbed it all, she'd never seen this one before. This transcript. She'd studied other copies of tablets with the language, they were extremely rare. But it was all meant to be able to teach her to decipher the real deal. The Ancient History
