Thousands of powerful beings stood before Asher, each having spent their existence believing there was nothing in the universe that could make them bow. Yet now, not one dared take a step forward.
The Dragon God clenched his fists. Golden scales rippled along his arms as his energy surged, only to be pressed back by the pressure rolling off Asher.
"Don't get carried away, boy!" he roared. "You killed Jormungandr. That doesn't mean you can challenge the entire Council!"
Asher glanced at him. "Then why are you still standing there?"
The Dragon God said nothing. A few gods traded looks.
They had expected Asher to boast or challenge them directly in a fight.
Instead, he treated the gathering like an inconvenience. It was infuriating, and worse, they had little to say against it.
Angeline raised her hand. "Enough."
Several gods relaxed. They had waited for her to take charge. This was her creation. If anyone could rein him in, it was her.
