Chapter 80 - - Freedom?

For a long period of time, the wet thud of flesh meeting the flesh echoed through the lobby. *Whack!* *Whack!* Each strike was desperate yet focused. *Whack!* *Whack!*

Frizz huffed, finally stopping his assault, and observed his opponent, whose head was now barely recognizable. Torres, in her dying throes, managed to deliver a single piercing strike to Frizz's side, piercing his liver, before succumbing to her injuries.

The wails of the police sirens had grown closer; they were now in front of the building. Frizz's amazement at his new set of perks and skills will have to wait.

"Shit!" he exclaimed, slicing the clinging hand off and yanking a mask from his inventory. He then shattered the tinted glass pane before him, the sound and sight of the explosion of shards shocking the crowding spectators outside.

To them, a heavily bloodied and bleeding man was trying to flee while there was a visible hole in his torso, and the crowd was screaming, horrified at the sight.

Frizz sprinted away, head and body throbbing in pain. "Healing Hands." He muttered, placing his hand on his massive injury.

Relief instantly settled in.

He sensed several officers were chasing him, so he tried to lose them by trespassing through small yet structurally connected businesses that were in the process of opening, shocking several employees and owners.

Thinking that he managed to outmaneuver them, a click of a gun caught his attention. It was two officers, and they looked eerily familiar.

"Frizz Jay Sadies, you're under arrest for terrorism, public endangerment, drug trafficking, theft, mass murder, vigilantism, and public nudity." A detective shouted, pointing a gun.

The sky rumbled softly, causing a soft drizzle. Frizz's expression soured at the mention of public nudity since he woke up nude. For him, it wasn't his fault.

Frizz glanced at the detective, recognizing him.

(It's that detective, the one who interviewed me and was stalking me.)

He thought, scrunching his eyes. He wanted to fly away, but his intuition was telling him that there was more about this detective. (Mike? Mikah? I forgot what his name was.)

"Put your hands up and turn around, or we will open fire." The detective threatened as Frizz felt a tingle in the back of his head, sensing that the detective was bluffing.

"It seems you already know who I am and what I am capable of, right?" Frizz asked, causing the two detectives to intensify their glares.

(Bingo.)

"So you hold no power over me," Frizz said, preparing to fly away.

"Just what are you people, and how'd you get those powers?" The detective said, still pointing his gun.

"Hell if I know. It showed up one day." Frizz answered, flying away and producing a small gust of wind as another batch of police officers arrived, missing Frizz.

Four hours later...

The heavy rain muffled the footsteps inside the cozy apartment. It was barren with almost no furniture aside from a makeshift foam bed and several mini-coolers. The neatly folded clothes rested atop several cardboard boxes filled with several packs of noodles.

In the middle of the room was a small table and a plate of egg omelet. Freshly cooked.

"I wish I had my old clothes. This sucks ass, dirt cheap too." Frizz said, freshly showered and clean, sitting at the table.

*Knock!* *Knock!*

Before he was able to pick up the spoon and enjoy his egg meal, someone was at the door. However, he didn't feel in danger, subconsciously aware that whoever was at the door was not an immediate threat.

All thanks to his intuition.

With a defeated sigh, he went straight to the door and opened it. The person knocking was Divine Hesoyam Rosa, and behind her was Nathaniel Macaraeg with an extremely shocked face.

"I knew you were alive. My eyes weren't fooling me!" Divine exclaimed, hugging Frizz tightly.

Nathaniel reached out and yanked Frizz's hair.

"Ah! What's wrong with you two?" Frizz stepped away from both of them, but they had already invited themselves inside to his new apartment.

"No, what's wrong with you? How are you alive? We saw your dead body." Nathaniel asked, sitting at the table, looking at the egg omelet.

"You killed her? That stupid foreigner bitch? That was you, right? The naked guy with a lot of blood that was on national TV?" Divine asked, excited yet cautious.

(When I hugged him earlier, his figure seemed sturdier. More refined.)

"National TV!?" Frizz said in surprise.

One hour later...

Frizz explained everything, from waking up at the top of a building and fighting Torres to the death. His recollection was strained; he didn't like reliving it all again. Nathaniel and Divine exchanged a look, noticing his discomfort.

"It's a miracle you won against her, even despite her injuries," Nathaniel said, eating a cup of noodles.

"You really think she had suffered under some penalty?"

"Yeah, I didn't realize it back then, but during my shower. I realized that after I woke up, she was screaming like hell." Frizz said, explaining to the two who were listening intently.

"She must've tried doing something to my body because the first thing that I heard when I woke up was her agonizing screams."

*Knock!* *Knock!*
