Thank God I actually read that novel. Without it, I'd be completely screwed right now.
I bit down on my index finger, hard enough to draw blood. The fairy's eyes went wide as saucers when she saw what I was doing.
"WAIT! NOOOOOOOO!" Her scream echoed through the forest, but she was too late. I pressed my bleeding finger against the earring, and instantly it started glowing with this brilliant light before transforming into pure amethyst.
The earring wasn't anything fancy to look at – just a purple diamond, really, but stretched out and thinned into an elegant teardrop shape. Simple, but I could feel the power radiating from it.
"Perfect," I said with a grin, turning to face her. The look of absolute dread on her face was priceless. "Nice doing business with you... Fairy, right?" I couldn't help but laugh as I spun around and started sprinting back toward the gate.
