Mere days later, Ayame Hyuga, the branch member of the clan that had been given the mission to meet up with Kazuo was already at the designated distance and spot where Kazuo had decided he would meet her.
Surrounding her were dozens upon dozens of trees, a small river to the side that barely had any running water and the flora and fauna were vast, tens of different kinds of plants surrounded her. This was a sort of special region in the ninja world, it was also one of the lands with the most rich plant variety, though at the current moment it was still undecided which country would eventually take hold of it as it was a part of the border area, meaning that no country actually could build any sort of harvesting operation on it.
It was at this moment as she was about the gather her breath and continue that something changed, the chirping of the birds and the buzz of insects that lived in the forest abruptly stopped as if everything around her had started holding its voice and breath on instinct against an unseeing threat.
It was at that moment that she saw a part of a tree directly infront of her change. The colouring of the bark slowly changing from a deep dark brown to a lighter one until eventually it became a complete white.
And then it happened, the bark started peeling off the tree as if it was made of paper sheets.
Ayame who had instantly put her guard up, her hand already having moved to her ninja bag slowly relaxed, she knew only one person at the moment who could wield paper style jutsu.
Kazuo Hyuga, the husband of Saori Hyuga.
The paper sheets peeling off the tree slowly gather infront of it and gathered together once more and formed the frame of a person, and in less than a few seconds, Kazuo Hyuga stood there before her, he looked different from the last time Ayame had seen him back when he had still been a ninja of the hidden leaf.
The greatest change wasn't his face which seemed to have greatly changed, it was his presence, it felt like she was in the presence of something inherently dangerous yet at the same time calming, as if she was standing infront of a large vast lake that could swallow her whole yet at the same time, not a single ripple was created on its vast surface.
"Ayame Hyuga correct? It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Kazuo Hyuga, the one who has been trying to break the curse that has been holding the Hyuga Clan back for so long." Kazuo spoke softly, his voice almost hypnotic in its melodic quality.
"Yes Sir." Ayame said instantly, giving a light bow with her head as her hands finally moved away from their guarded and ready stance into a more neutral one, clearly not open and carefree yet not as aggressive as before.
"Alright, we shouldn't waste much time, this isnt a great spot to be talking. I'll be taking you with me to the hidden base, It's faster that way." Kazuo spoke, however he didn't move instantly, waiting for her to agree, seemingly taking her opinion into consideration though it wasn't like it mattered at all to him.
"Yes, I'll follow you." Ayame's reply was short and almost instant, clearly neither of them were in the mood for short talk, her nerves were already tired from the rush and constant vigilance from the days long journey from the hidden leaf.
"Alright, all you have to do is relax, ill be using a paper jutsu to help transport us as quickly and discreetly as possible." Kazuo replied as he made a single handed hand-seal and suddenly half his body transformed back into paper sheets, launching into the air behind him and then attaching itself to his shoulder blades and forming two pairs of angelic wings. At the same time, a portion of these paper sheets flew directly behind Ayame Hyuga and attached themselves to her in a similar manner, creating another pair of angelic wings, the main difference was that a portion of the paper created a sort of band around her torso so that they could be more securely attached to her body.
"Alright, with that we are ready." Kazuo spoke one last time before his body was launched into the air with a quick flap of his wings, at the same moment, Ayame's eyes widened as she felt her feet leave the ground in an instant, before she knew what was even happening, her body was launchd towards the sky at high speeds.
They continued rising into the air until they flew above the clouds before Kazuo manipulated the wings to make them simply float above in the air.
"By making use of flying jutsu, our speed of movement will be much faster and at the same time more discreet, its a bonus considering almost no one in the ninja world has the ability to fly and most sensors aren't good enough to sense us when we are this high in the air." Kazuo spoke, helping to clarify his decision and then without waiting for her reply, he manipulated his own paper wings and hers to launch the two of the in the direction of the land of the moon.
'So this… is the man who was able to… destroy half the hyuga clan in one night.' Ayame thought to herself, as an exhilarating emotion went through her, if it was this man, maybe the Hyuga branch family finally had a chance to break their chains and gain the ability to stand on the same level as the main family.
'Please… please let it work.' Ayame thought to herself as her body flew through the sky after Kazuo, the two of them moving towards Kazuo's base.
A hopeful spirit and the devil in disguise.
