After saying farewell to Guana, Chris mounted Lugia and returned to Snowpoint Temple.
It was still nighttime when he arrived back at Snowpoint Temple, and the two captains, Kamado and Cyllene, had not yet arrived.
So Chris returned to his secret base to rest.
At 8 o'clock the following morning, Chris arrived on the first floor of Snowpoint Temple right on time and met Sabi and Lian, who had been waiting for quite a while.
Compared to their previous meeting, Sabi and Lian's attitude toward Chris had undergone a complete transformation—they were respectful and somewhat fawning.
In fact, they didn't even treat their own captains with such deference.
Chris suspected that if he asked them to leave Team Pearl and Team Diamond to join Team Galactic, they might agree without a moment's hesitation.
Unfortunately, Chris had no intention of establishing another organization in the Hisui Region.
"Have Captain Kamado and Captain Cyllene arrived?" Chris asked.
"Captain Kamado and Captain Cyllene traveled through the night and arrived around 6 o'clock this morning. They're currently resting in the camp and waiting for your arrival."
"Please, this way!" Sabi explained while Lian extended his hand to show the way.
Chris followed Lian to the largest tent in the center of the camp.
Walking into the tent, he found Kamado and Cyllene sitting across from each other. Neither of them spoke—they were simply sitting with their eyes closed, resting.
Hearing someone enter, they both opened their eyes simultaneously and glanced at Chris.
In their gazes, he could see curiosity, suspicion, surprise, and fighting spirit.
It seemed that before he arrived, Sabi and Lian had already reported what had happened to their captains.
Well then, things were straightforward.
"Good morning, Captains." Chris took the initiative to greet them.
"Good morning, Chris," they both responded.
Kamado stood up first and said loudly, "I heard from Sabi that you easily defeated the Pokémon guarding the key, and that you're stronger than we expected."
"How about we have a battle after this matter is concluded?"
The fighting spirit in his eyes was completely unconcealed.
"No problem." Chris welcomed all challengers.
However, based on his estimate of Kamado's strength, the Pokémon he'd use in the match would probably be from his fourth tier—in other words, his junior lineup.
Otherwise, the battle process would hold little meaning, and the outcome would be obvious.
"Commander Kamado is quite fortunate to be able to recruit you to join Team Galactic," Cyllene said, looking at Chris seriously.
It was as if she wanted to get to know Chris all over again.
These two encounters had completely revised her estimation of Chris's abilities.
Still, she didn't hide her acknowledgment of Chris's strength.
Chris smiled and got straight to the point.
"How are you both resting? When shall we explore the lower three floors of Snowpoint Temple?"
"Right now," Kamado said eagerly.
Cyllene had no objections since she didn't possess a key herself.
"By the way, Captain Kamado, after your key opens the door, could I make a trade with you?"
"I'll exchange it for a nice Pokémon item," Chris said suddenly.
The key was made from the Life Orb material, which was a rare sacred material. Chris wanted to equip Tyranitar with more of it—even if it meant trading a legendary item or a diamond for it.
"What trade? The key will be useless after opening the door. I'll just give it to you." Kamado waved his hand generously.
Chris immediately understood that Captain Kamado didn't comprehend the effects of the legendary Pokémon item Life Orb, and simply regarded it as an ordinary key.
"Thank you very much, Captain Kamado."
The three of them exited the camp. Members of the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan on both sides had been waiting for some time. The two captains selected a few elite members to accompany them on this expedition.
The only person traveling with Chris was Akari.
Seeing Chris appear, she ran over quickly.
"Chris, where were you last night?" Akari asked. She'd searched around the campsite last night but couldn't find him.
"I set up camp outside Snowpoint Temple," Chris replied casually.
Soon, everyone arrived at a stone gate.
"Let's begin," Kamado said.
There was a stone platform beside the stone gate with six grooves carved into it. As long as the Life Orbs placed on each floor of Snowpoint Temple were embedded into it, the gate would activate and open.
After Captain Kamado inserted his only Life Orb, Chris waved his hand, and all five of his Life Orbs were embedded into the stone platform as well.
Suddenly, there was a brilliant flash of light.
A faint blue glow appeared in the center of the stone gate. From top to bottom, it was like a sudden flash of sword light striking the stone gate. Then the gate cracked down the middle and split into two halves. For a moment, a faint blue energy flow surged out from inside like a tide.
Chris, Kamado, and Cyllene, who were standing in front of the stone gate, bore the brunt of it.
But this blue energy flow wasn't aggressive. Instead, it gave people a very warm feeling—just touching it was enough to make someone feel full of vitality.
The three of them remained on alert but didn't defend against or disperse the energy flow.
Chris's eyes brightened.
He recognized this flowing energy!
It was Aura power!
And it was extremely pure Aura power! It was even stronger than the Tree of Beginning where Mew resided!
This made Chris feel somewhat incredulous. The Tree of Beginning was the source of Aura power. To have Aura power more potent than the Tree of Beginning—what could possibly be beneath here?
Could it really not be Regigigas?
"Gardevoir!" Chris called out.
Gardevoir understood immediately and quietly appeared behind Chris. Her slender hands moved elegantly, like conducting an orchestra, and light purple psychic energy spread accordingly.
Her powerful mental power instantly sealed the surrounding space and controlled all the overflowing Aura power, preventing any of it from leaking out.
She extended her hand again, opening a rift in midair, and channeled all the Aura power into it.
It looked as if a small vortex had appeared in the air, constantly drawing the Aura power into it.
This Aura power would be channeled through the spatial rift to Chris's secret base and used to nurture his other Pokémon.
Chris and the others stood at the gate for several minutes, but there was still no sign that the Aura power had been completely absorbed.
"Let's enter," Kamado said. He didn't understand what Chris and Gardevoir were doing, but that didn't stop him from continuing the exploration.
"Let's go," Chris said, taking the lead.
Gardevoir followed suit, placing a vortex at the stone entrance to prevent the Aura from escaping.
She cut another opening in space and followed Chris, moving together with him while absorbing the Aura power they encountered along the way.
