Chapter 7 - Dream

Drops of air began to fall from the sky and slowly moisten the ground, the wind slowly started to blow strongly, causing small and light objects to be immediately blown away from their place.

"Mother"

That was the only word that came out of Rover's mouth after seeing the presence that should not exist in the world anymore.

His deceased mother was now in front of him.

His beloved mother stood among countless bodies and blood.

He did not know what to do after seeing the person he loved.

Should he be happy because she has come back to life?

Or the opposite?

In the midst of the dilemma and confusion, suddenly the figure in front of him began to walk towards him slowly.

Her pale white body without any injuries as if she had never died before.

Her beautiful black dress splattered with blood made her look scary yet beautiful.

Rover, who saw her, could only step back to save himself while clutching lilies in his embrace.

He was only helpless at this moment when this happened.

When the figure 'she' was very close to Rover, a fireball floated in front of her and burned the person in front of Rover's eyes.

Shortly after, Rover, who previously felt terror, suddenly felt his mind becoming clearer and feelings of doubt and fear vanished from his heart.

He immediately looked up at the attack and saw a man and dozens of other survivors fighting against monsters and the undead in front of the sports center building.

"So is that an illusion?" he said while looking back at the body charred by the fireball.

The face and clothing on the body looked very different from what he had seen before.

He felt a very complex feeling at this moment and did not know what it was.

He was pleased because what he saw was merely an illusion and not real, but on the other hand, he was utterly confused and his heart was empty seeing only the person he loved would not live but the way in which she did it.

Having accepted this as reality now, all Arvid could do is clutch the axe at his side tighter and look away at the battle with a more empty stare.

He then slowly moved forward into the battle, ignoring what was happening on both sides.

This immediately caught the attention of a few people who were fighting against monsters and undead around him.

Why was there someone casually walking into the battlefield?

Did he want to end his life because he could not bear the pressure of the changes?

Before most of them could think further, a new thing surprised them all. The Rover that had previously appeared in their sight disappeared in an instant as if it had never been there in the first place.

They were confused about what was happening. Wasn't the young man there earlier?

In addition, on the other side, the rover had already arrived on the rooftop of the sports center building, and a young man was seen shooting a horde of monsters with his arrows. The young man named Ozig suddenly noticed the appearance of the rover and aimed his arrows towards him.

"Hey, friend, it seems I have no problem with you. So, imagine you lower your weapon to the ground and let's discuss this peacefully, what do you want?" he said, trying not to escalate the situation.

However, the Rover only glanced at him and approached him only to hand over Lily's body to the young man. The confused young man tried to ask him about what was happening, but soon stopped when something sharp was by his side.

"Protect her."

Immediately after that, he vanished from the place in an instant as if his existence had been swallowed by the earth.

After the Rover disappeared, Ozig immediately knelt down while still holding Lily's body, which remained warm even though she had lost her life as if her life depended heavily on this girl's body.

After entrusting Lily to someone he deemed trustworthy, he immediately blinked from the rooftop and headed towards where the battle was taking place.

As a result, it immediately drew back the attention of some monsters and humans who were trying to survive and kill the enemies in front of them.

But of course he brushed aside the headache and dropped quickly down towards the group of monsters. The monsters, realizing that they were about to be in danger, ran in all directions desperately trying to get away.

But it was too late. The rover had cracked the ground as it hit, and their balance was broken. Not wanting to waste the opportunity, the rover used 'Blink' again to target the average weak point of living beings, which is their heads.

Armed with an axe that would break, the rover immediately beheaded and destroyed the heads of the monsters and zombies one by one. Dozens of notifications could be heard in his mind, and hologram status appeared in front of him, sometimes causing him to be attacked by monsters nearby.

Not only that, there were several cases where he almost got bitten by zombies due to the continuous crowd coming towards him. Although he did not know whether being scratched by a zombie would turn him into one, it was better to prevent it before it got worse.

In the meantime, while he was stalling, more monsters and zombies kept coming closer and closer, trapping him and blocking every direction of escape.

He could use his skills for a way out, but he only had two more uses before his 'mana' energy was used up, so he had to use as efficiently as possible.

Rover then turned around and saw a girl standing at the edge of the sports building's roof. The girl was just staring at the crowd of zombies and monsters surrounding Rover below.

"Blood Arrows,"

a calm yet echoing voice was heard in all directions. Hundreds of arrows were instantly created from the blood of the monster corpses flowing upwards as if the blood had a mind of its own.

Soon after that, the arrows flew through the bodies of the monsters and zombies surrounding Rover as if their bodies were as soft as butter. As a result, the monsters and zombies surrounding him drastically decreased, allowing Rover to escape using his 'Blink'.

After landing, he looked back at the woman and saw that she was also staring at him intensely for a moment before leaving the area. Rover could only furrow his brow in response to the woman's actions, but he quickly ignored it and continued to kill the remaining monsters and zombies.

Rover's movements were unwavering as he continued to kill the remaining zombies and monsters, despite facing a group of hundreds of frightening creatures; anyone would be scared facing such a large number, especially as the humans were dwindling in number. Eventually, after what seemed like eternity, the winner of the battle was determined.

Blood had formed large puddles and scattered flesh everywhere. A vile odor hung in the air, causing terror for everyone who saw the implications. But for those who had survived, they could merely stare blankly at the scene with dulled eyes and say nothing.

Rover stood motionless, just staring at the woman who had saved him, and she stared back with her dead eyes; she appeared unaffected by the awful consequences.

In the end, under the heavy rainfall, humanity emerged victorious, although there was a price to pay for it.
