Chapter 43 - Graves are for the dead

The waters had grown stale and stagnant.

Tangaroa's mood seemed to have infected them.

The water moved across Ikem's skin, and as much as he tried to hide it, he was disgusted.

But he understood.

Tangaroa mentioned that he was going to die.

There was a sense of finality in his voice, that made Ikemefuna believe him.

'But still, nothing is impossible in this world. There might still be a way for him to survive.'

To be frank, Ikemefuna did not care if the god lived or died. He had been perfectly content to sit back and watch as his priestess mauled his fellow trainee.

Ikem therefore refused to feel anything for the god.

"I am to bear you witness"

Tangaroa nodded very slowly. "Yes."

"It is my wish to be carried in the memory of another soul, the soul of a demigod is the best alternative."

"So the priestess, Hinewai will die as well."

The god frowned.

"It is not death that awaits my people. Death is merciful."
