------------------

Sato was quite familiar with Golurk. Back on the mysterious island, he had encountered this Pokémon many times in the desert ruins, and had even joined other Team Rocket elites to defeat a gigantic Golurk summoned by Unown.

Because of this, Sato understood this Pokémon very well. Its weakness lay in its poor mobility, but its strengths were equally obvious. With a base Attack stat of 130, its physical offense was extremely high, and its HP and defenses were also solid, giving it remarkable durability.

Another key trait was its transformation ability. It could retract its legs into its body, turning its waist into a propulsion system and switching into a flight mode. In this form, its arms could also retract into its wrists, forming auxiliary thrusters.

After scanning the Golurk sent out by Gubo with his system ability, Sato immediately knew that Kecleon was facing a tough opponent. This Golurk had clearly been specially trained.

Because Golurk possessed the Iron Fist ability, Gubo had deliberately taught it punching moves such as Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, and Ice Punch. If Kecleon allowed it to get close, the consequences would be severe.

Moreover, to compensate for Golurk's slow speed, Gubo had equipped it with utility moves like Rock Tomb and Icy Wind, which would reduce the opponent's speed upon landing.

The battlefield was a flat, open area with no grass or obstacles. However, due to previous matches, the ground was already riddled with craters and uneven terrain.

"Golurk, use Earthquake—force it out!"

The battle began quickly. Since Kecleon was invisible, Gubo couldn't immediately locate it. Instead of attacking recklessly, he chose to probe with a wide-area move.

At level 57, Golurk had already mastered the powerful Ground-type move Earthquake. Upon receiving the command, it stomped heavily on the ground.

Instantly, violent tremors spread across the battlefield. The shockwaves struck everything within range indiscriminately.

Yet strangely, although the entire battlefield was affected and cracks spread across the ground, there was still no sign of Kecleon.

Sato, meanwhile, remained silent the entire time, issuing no audible commands—as if he had allowed Kecleon to endure the attack without resistance.

"Even though Kecleon is far from the epicenter and only took residual shockwaves, that Earthquake still dealt considerable damage… Did he really choose to endure it just to avoid revealing its position?"

Hughes, watching from the side, showed a puzzled expression.

However, as someone who suspected Sato's identity as a Psychic, Hughes believed Sato had already issued commands silently—just in a way others couldn't perceive.

.....

"If it won't come out, then we'll do it again. Golurk, use Earthquake!"

Gubo kept his eyes fixed on the battlefield. He knew that Kecleon's zigzag red stripe on its belly couldn't turn invisible, yet he still couldn't locate it.

His expression darkened as he gave the order again.

He was convinced Kecleon was still on the ground—just hiding in a blind spot—so he continued using Earthquake to force it out.

Another massive tremor shook the battlefield.

But once again, after the shaking subsided, there was still no trace of Kecleon—as if it had vanished entirely.

"Hm… so that's where it is. No wonder it didn't want to reveal itself—it's draining Golurk's stamina."

Hughes shifted his gaze upward. When he noticed a barely perceptible sway in a wire above the battlefield, realization dawned on him.

There was nowhere on the ground for Kecleon to avoid Earthquake. But above the battlefield, there was one thing—

A power line suspended in midair.

Just as Hughes deduced, Kecleon was currently hanging from that power line with its long tongue, successfully avoiding both Earthquake attacks.

At the same time, it had used Nasty Plot, raising its Special Attack by two stages.

However, after using the move, its invisibility broke. Its body turned completely visible—dark and exposed.

At this moment, Gubo and the others finally noticed Kecleon in the air, along with the nearly invisible power line. Their expressions turned awkward.

Gubo himself flushed with anger.

"So you've been found… Kecleon, use Ice Beam!"

Sato immediately seized the moment, calmly issuing his command.

In an instant, Kecleon's body turned icy blue. A thick beam of freezing energy shot from its mouth, streaking toward Golurk below.

Golurk, already slow and still recovering from consecutive Earthquakes, had no time to react.

The sneak attack landed cleanly.

The Ice Beam dealt heavy damage and coated Golurk's body in a thin layer of frost.

"Golurk, switch to flight mode—blast it out of the sky!"

Gubo, feeling the stares of the crowd, burned with embarrassment and anger. He immediately ordered a counterattack.

Golurk retracted its legs, shifting into flight mode, and surged upward toward Kecleon.

"Jump down. Use Double Team and Substitute. Leave the substitute on the ground—your real body goes invisible again."

Sato gave rapid instructions via telepathy.

Kecleon immediately leapt from the power line. Midair, it used Double Team and Substitute in succession.

Multiple Kecleons appeared as it fell.

Golurk struck—but chose the wrong target. Its Dynamic Punch smashed a mere illusion.

Meanwhile, the real Kecleon and its substitute had already reached the ground. The real one vanished again using its invisibility, leaving only the substitute behind as a decoy.

"Don't let it escape! Switch back—use Earthquake!"

Gubo, now thoroughly enraged, seized the moment.

Golurk reverted to its normal form midair and dropped like a depth charge.

BOOM—

A far stronger Earthquake than before erupted across the battlefield.

Under Sato's control, the substitute tried to jump to evade—but the sustained shockwaves lasted too long.

In the end, it collapsed, unable to withstand the attack.

Seeing this, Gubo's anger subsided slightly.

He even felt a trace of guilt—thinking perhaps he had been too harsh on such a young opponent.

But that feeling lasted only seconds. Because the fallen "Kecleon" suddenly dissolved into particles of light.

His pupils shrank.

Something was wrong.

....

Before he could react—

A massive icy beam descended from above and struck Golurk's head directly.

The head was Golurk's core weakness.

The sudden Ice Beam hit squarely—and instantly decided the battle.

Under the stunned gazes of the crowd, Golurk collapsed heavily onto the ground—

completely unable to continue fighting.
