Chapter : 21 : The Battle Begins :
" So would it be possible for me to fight a jonin ? "
"...."
" Wait ! What did he just say ! "
" Holy Hell !!!! Is he being serious? "
" I think he is out of his mind . "
" Sigh ! Just a case of classic overconfidence just because you want against a genin doesn't mean you will win against a real jonin . "
At this moment many within the students group couldn't help but get a little confused about Takeru's request .
All of them thought that it was an act of either over confidence or foolishness .
After all, there was a big difference between a newly graduated genin and a real jonin .
And this is something that no academy student would get past .
While they had this thought the adults on the stage however had an entirely different reaction .
" Takeru, are you sure that you want to fight me? "
Mr Yagami looked at the young boy in front of him and asked.
However unlike the students below his voice did not contain any form of mocking or underestimation .
He only looked at Takeru with a clear intent, wanting to know the truth from the young boy in front of him .
Faced by this situation Takeru didn't back down .
Instead he came forward and looked at Mr Yagami with conviction .
" As I have said before Mr Yagami I believe that this battle was not satisfactory to me . "
" And only by fighting a stronger opponent such as yourself would I be able to know my full power at this moment . "
" It is important for me because only by knowing my current limit would I be able to try and surpass them . "
" So I hope that you would grant me this request . "
After he finished speaking there was a small moment of silence in the arena as both adults looked at each other for a brief moment .
Then after a nod of approval from Shino sensei Mr Yagami finally looked at Takeru .
" Alright we will have a battle . "
However just as Takeru was about to thank the other side, Shino also joined in the conversation .
" But Takeru, you must remember that this is battle only to measuring your strength . "
" As such Mr Yagami will only be using the necessary amount of force that he believes is required for the training . "
" And if we believe that the battle is coming to a conclusion or anything else, we will call off the match immediately . "
" Are you ok with that . "
After hearing what Shino sensei had to say Takeru didn't hesitate for a second and agreed .
" I have no problems with this arrangement Shino sensei . "
To be honest Takeru had no problems with this arrangement .
The whole point of him asking for this battle was to push his current limits .
Especially in his Miyamoto Musashi template .
And as for the opponent not fighting in his full power; he didn't worry about that at all .
' Because once the fight begins as a jonin for Mr Yagami, he soon understands that holding back against me is a bad choice . '
With that the announcement was made that an extra match between Mr Yagami and Takeru will happen .
After listening to this announcement the entire group of new students who were just talking to each other became even louder .
To them the fact that Takeru had even asked for something like this was a disbelief .
But the fact that the teachers actually allowed the fight to happen was even more disbelieving .
Many of them thought that the teachers actually wanted to teach a Takeru lesson .
And only a very few people actually had hopes that Takeru would put up some kind of a fight .
" Hehe ! I like his personality already . "
Boruto, who was sitting at the back of the group, gave a wide excited grin .
To be honest he also felt that his own battle was not very hard and wanted to do something more .
But unfortunately he was stopped by Sarada from pulling any prank .
But now looking at the scene he couldn't help but feel a lot of excitement .
" Shut up for a second, Boruto? We don't need more troubles today because of you . "
" Hey what did I do ? "
Sarada, who was beside him, quickly shut him up much to the blonde boy's protest .
" With that said however I too believe that this battle will be interesting to watch . "
Looking in front Sarada couldn't help but feel that the boy named Takeru was different from others in her class .
He was certainly stronger than most and had a lot of courage .
At least enough to challenge a jonin instructor out of no where .
" See ! Even you are interested and yet your scolding me . "
" Shut up . "
Then Boruto quickly looked towards Shikadai who was lazy sitting behind him with his back comfortably against the tree trunk .
" Hey Shikadai, what do you think ? Will this new friend of yours be able to fight Mr Yagami? "
" How the hell am I supposed to know that? "
Shikadai quickly answered back with some annoyance in his voice .
For the poor lazy Nara all of this had gone too far .
Not only did Boruto and Sarada win their matches .
But Takeru also humiliated his opponent and took an almost effortless victory .
And now he was even going to challenge a jonin .
' This is already something beyond what anyone of my age should be expected to do . '
And then there was himself who gave up his match without even fighting .
And honestly he had no regret in doing that as that was he believed the correct and most sensible decision .
But unfortunately his mom will not understand that .
' Sigh ! If mom gets to hear about this then she is going to lecture me for 2 days straight . '
Just thinking about the scenario brought him nothing but a headache .
And it was a headache that came because he had overly excited and talented friends .
' Seriously where do all these geniuses come from? '
' Can't they just lie down and have a proper rest . '
" Sigh ! What a drag ! "
On the other side of the gathering in a corner there was a girl with purple hair looking at the entire event with a smile on her face .
However behind that smile if one were to notice for a few seconds there was a cold reflection .
It was as if she was calculating everything that was happening in the arena .
However that coldness only appeared for a very few seconds , something that people would not notice at all .
With this stage was set and the entire crowd was waiting for the most exciting battle of this training to start .
Location Change : Practice Arena :
" Takeru, you can choose any equipment you want from this table . "
In the arena Shino was showing Takeru a number of equipment placed on a table .
There was a lot of equipment over there ranging from kunai to swords .
All of them were for practice purposes and as such getting hit by them would not cause any serious injuries .
However, that said will be painful if you get hit and still cause minor damage .
Takeru, after looking at the things, quickly picked out a Katana and a wakizashi .
" I will choose these two Shino sensei . "
" Alright then you may proceed . "
With that confirmation Takeru gave a small bow to Shino and then proceeded to enter the arena once again .
In front of him Mr Yagami was already standing there with two kunais placed in between his fingers .
Looking at Takeru who had entered the arena with a Katana and a wakizashi Mr Yagami looked a little surprised however didn't say much .
With that both of them took their position as Shino came forward to start the match.
" Alright ! the battle begins . "
" Swish ! "
With that announcement Shino sensei left the arena leaving both of the participants to fight .
" .... "
However, unlike the battle before between Takeru and the genin, this time it was completely different .
There was no talking from each side and neither of them made a move .
Mr Yagami was standing in his exact position in a defensive manner signaling his opponent to charge forward .
However Takeru did not take the bait, instead carefully looking at his opponent .
' Hmmm ! He is truly a jonin . '
Looking at his opponent Takeru found very few openings to attack .
And even the ones that were visible were most likely left open by Mr Yagami in order to bait him .
' But if there is no opening then I will just have to make one myself . '
With that he quickly brought out his katana and charged forward at a blinding speed .
' So fast !!!! '
Everyone watching the scene quickly gasped at the speed by which Takeru had covered the distance .
Well this was nothing too extraordinary and even Boruto and Sarada can do that .
But the change in this situation is that Takeru is not using the body flicker technique and this was his speed that he achieved through physical power alone .
And for someone who is a new accademy student this was really extraordinary .
Not only the students, even the teachers and Mr Yagami were shocked at the site .
' This speed ! He must have spent a lot of time and dedication in his physical training . '
Mr Yagami, who till this point had not shown any clear interest in the fight, now showed a little serious expression .
While he still did not move from his spot ,he was no longer inactive .
So he quickly threw the two kunais in his hand and then followed it up with another 12 in a succession .
His projectile throwing techniques were sharper and more decisive than the genin .
And with incredible speed and precision all the kunais moved forward towards Takeru.
" Tang ! Tang ! Tang ! Tang ! .... "
However against this barrage Takeru did not panic and quickly used his sword to deflect them one after another .
After deflecting the incoming projectiles with extreme precision Takeru didn't stop and kept going forward towards his opponent .
" Let's see how you dodge this . "
On the other side Mr Yagami also did not back down and quickly took out another round of 20 shuriken and 20 kunais and once again threw them towards Takeru .
The projectiles this time however did not follow the same path.
Mr Yagami carefully threw them in such a manner that they spread out and then started coming towards Takeru from multiple directions .
This was a deadly trap .
Because now multiple projectiles were coming towards him from different directions in such a manner that he would have to act with perfect timing or else one or two would slip by his defences .
Not only that some of the incoming projectiles even changed their direction in mid flight making it even harder to detect and deflect .
" Holy hell ! How can he dodge that? "
" It's over ! There is no way Takeru can dodge that . "
" Well I guess that was to be expected . "
" Huh ! So this is the power of a real jonin . "
Just as most of the people believed that the battle has come to an end, what happened next shocked them beyond understanding .
Without wasting any more time Takeru quickly took out his wakizashi and together with his Katana started to deflect all the incoming projectiles like a seasoned shinobi .
It was as if he could read all the incoming trajectory of the shurikens and kunais .
And he was doing this while still keeping his momentum and pressing forward .
And just then an even more shocking event happened .
" Jump ! "
Suddenly Takeru did a backflip and perfectly dodged an incoming shuriken that was coming from his blind spot .
" .... "
This display of strength left everyone in the area with their mouths wide open .
And most of them at this moment only had one thought in their minds .
' What in the hell just happened . '
On the other hand, the genin who had just lost to Takeru felt conflicting emotions in his heart as he watched from the sideline .
On one hand he was happy to know that at least he did not lose to some amateur .
' After all if this boy can dodge and deflect attacks from sensei then my loss was not too unexpected . '
But at the same time this caused him a lot of trepidation .
Because at first he believed that the reason he lost was because he got careless or simply the opponent was just a little stronger than him .
But that was the extent of his thinking.
To him even if he lost the match it was in a close fight with a real genius .
However now looking at the raw speed , sword technique and reflexes shown by Takeru he understood that the previous battle was just a game .
And let alone a close match it was perhaps not even a warm up for this little genius .
" Sigh ! Is this the difference between a genius and me? "
Within a few minutes of the start of the fight all his delusions and arrogance had been shattered like a glass .
And now he could only hope that he would never meet this little genius in a battle once again .
On the stage Takeru who had been forced to stop due to the last attack once again started his charge .
However just as he was getting close to Mr Yagami something happened in the very next moment .
" Slash !!!! "
