Chapter 36 - Good Or Evil?

That was something I was not expecting.

It wasn't the Northern region that's still in the Western quadrant, but the Northern Grid, above the Center or the Inner Grid.

.

These whole worlds were connected through gates, large gates that connect to other worlds.

There are four main gates in total, one located in the North, the South, the East, and the West.

There are miniature gates as well.

Northwest, Northeastern gates. Southwest and Southeast gates.

Yoru lived in the Western Grid, beside the Inner or Central Grid. Glimaviel was situated at the border of Western Region and the Central Region of the Western Grid.

It took Yoru a lot of time to try and grasp and understand the nature of the whole thing. Some had worlds like fantasy, and there were worlds such as modern technology ones.

There are worlds that had several different kinds of Earth's.

Each world was different, some had these things called System. While others don't.

However, the Trial cave they went in was the Trial of the South. So they were only supposed to be at the southern region, still within the Western Grid.

But the information he learned...

He was at the Northern Grid, not region or quadrant!

It takes a long, long, long, long time to even get to a Gate that connected to a different Grid.

But he only entered a cave that was in the southern region of the Western Grid, and it only took... An hour?

It took an hour to suddenly appear in the Northern Grid, in the Northern region, where these elves live. A huge forest with giant trees.

This was all baffling news to him.

All the questions thrown at him were about kingdoms, empires, and weird companies and agencies.

Where he was from, which kingdom of empire he was from.

If he worked at an company and if he was a spy.

He answered all of these with composure but still couldn't hide the confusion of it all.

In the end, they put him in a run down shack, the house was not cleaned and he felt the need to— instead of resting first and trying to understand his whole situation, was to clean his surroundings first.

"Huff..."

He sighed, finally crashing on the bed.

Yoru was not feeling it right now, his mind was hurting. All the theories he made up had no answers, leading only to more questions.

Just then, a young elven girl who looked to be the age of the maids from back home.

The young girl walked towards the table right next to the bed where he was laying down, kneeling down right beside the table she slid a tray filled with refreshing fruits and a cup of the cleanest possible water.

Yoru sat upright, facing the young girl as she placed a few more refreshments.

The young girl looked calm, keeping her eyes focused on her tasked. Only when she tore her gaze and looked at him did her composure waver a little.

She looked him over, up and down which looked extremely inappropriate to him as his body was that of a twelve year old.

Yoru was about to speak up but the elven woman beat him to it.

"U– uhm... Is it true that humans are evil?"

She couldn't meet his eyes, looking somewhere else as she sat on the floor.

Yoru couldn't answer that question really well, of course humans aren't evil, but this girl has never met a human before.

Her question was probably influenced by the tales and stories that came from the old generation of this tribe.

"Yes, yes they are." He answered after a long moment of silence, the answer was not what the elven girl was expecting and she felt down.

"But," Yoru suddenly added, catching the girls attention and finally meeting each other's gaze.

"Among the cruelty of mankind, there lives a spark—gentle, unwavering, and pure. Though dimmed by the darkness around it, that light will shine when it matters most… to guide, to protect, to save all."

Adrian Drakovar followed closely behind his older brother, Rhaedric Drakovar, who was walking through the bushes.

It was already evening by the time they left the place where the dark ruin was.

They both were heading towards an elven tribe to show their worth to a certain someone but they came across something.

There was a giant corpse of a centipede, it's body was covered in layers of onyx stone and was large and long.

However that's only what it was before it's entire body was eaten by other predators, now it only looked to be 9 meters left and little to no flesh.

"It wasn't killed by an monster," Adrian spoke up, making Rhaedric turn around to glare at him.

Adrian looked away, not wanting to meet his big brothers intimidating gaze.

Rhaedric took another look at the corpse Infront of him and indeed, it was not killed by another monster.

He could tell the cause of it's death, it was it's severed legs on one side of it's body, it was cut smoothly. But no animal of being could have that much intelligence or the accuracy to cut the giant centipedes legs in between the cracks of its shell.

That only meant one possible explanation.

"Someone's been here, an elf possibly."

Rhaedric muttered and began walking again, Adrian followed, casting one last glance at the corpse before turning away.

'Or maybe even a human...'

He thought to himself.
