Chapter 41 - Getting To Know Each Other

The three human kids were brought to a small room, there they waited

Yoru was less tense now, the ghostly aura and the stench he smelled from it was finally gone, though the feeling still lingered giving him the shivers.

"So," One of the other kids started, his smile bright and radiant as he looked at Yoru from across the table.

"You're just like us aren't you?"

Yoru raised an eyebrow, tilting his head seemingly innocent.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He laughed and leaned back on his chair, carefree and not at all bothered. "They aren't listening to us right now, you can drop the act."

"..."

Yoru's eyes narrowed a bit, looking straight at teenage boy Infront of him, he let out a sigh and relaxed a bit, letting his guard down for a little.

The kid has already awakened, he only didn't notice it due to the aura he gave off was suppressed, either by an artifact or he knew how to control it.

Which would make him better than the entirety of the South challengers, he could even be better than Wang Zihan and Zhao Lina.

Albeit the kid Infront of him had more time and experience to do so, he looked to be around fifteen or sixteen.

As for what Yoru assumes to be his brother...

Yoru gave the gloomy pale red headed kid a glance, he was not an awakened yet, but the weapon he carried exuded an odd presence. Maybe he found his main chosen weapon.

He looked back at the red headed teenager, taking another second glance at the aura he exuded, both spiritually and in the sense of magic.

Seeing as how intensely Yoru was looking at him, he shifted in his seat, changing his posture before speaking.

"The names Rhaedric Drakovar from Glimaviel, part of the Drakovar clan. Over here is Adrian... My brother."

Yoru noted the way Rhaedric mentioned his brother, it seemed they weren't on good terms at all.

He could also see it in Adrian's eyes, they were lifeless and gloomy, his entire being gave off that feeling.

Mentally noting a few assumptions and details about the two brothers, Yoru leaned back and took a sip of the cup of cold water.

"Yoru, from Glimaviel."

That was all he said.

Rhaedric blinked, and then laughed brightly.

"Man of a few words aren't you? Ha! People like you annoy me!"

He said bluntly, not at all hesitating to speak what was going on in his mind... Or if he was even thinking in the first place, the response was quick and little to no pause was present.

Rhaedric laughed a bit more then sighed, calming his breath.

"Which Trial are you from?"

Yoru gave him a long cold look.

He wanted to pretend that he was atleast part of this trial, that he was just lost and taken in by the elves.

Why would Rhaedric ask that as his first question?

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me."

His tone was still as bright and confidently radiant as it always is, but this time there was a sharp cutting edge to it.

So he wasn't just a knucklehead after all.

Yoru glanced at his gloomy brother, he was staring deeply at the table for some reason. Then he shifted his gaze to the left and stared at the wall.

Rhaedric stared intently at one of Yoru's eyes, it was different from the other.

Both were a mesmerizing gray color but his right eye had a weird pattern on it, like an engraving within it, not on it.

"Nice engraving on your eye buddy, what's it mean?"

Yoru raised his eyebrow and leaned back away from Rhaedric as he was too close for comfort.

" Engraving?"

Rhaedric let out an convinced hum, taking out a small dagger from his belt and partially unsheathing it.

It was clean and reflective, it had fancy engravings and runic letters on it and was very well kept.

Rhaedric faced the reflective blunt end of his dagger towards Yoru, and Yoru looked at his reflection.

There he was surprised. Because right there on his eye, was an engraving on his pupils. It was a weird mix of white and black, seemingly clashing or merging with each other.

What it means though...

He doesn't know, it felt like the familiar runes that he sees in this world and something else, something that gave him a mix of nostalgia.

Furrowing his brows Yoru took a few more long seconds that turned into half a minute from trying to figure out if he could understand whatever the engraving on his eye meant.

Clink!

Rhaedric sighed and sheathed back his dagger, sliding it back onto his waist belt and taking a seat.

"Seems like you didn't know either huh? Well whatever, that cool writing on your eye isn't that important right now."

He dismissed the matter with a wave of his hand and a loud sigh, leaning back on his chair and closing his eyes.

Yoru was currently deep in thought, thinking of when and where did the engraving suddenly appear on his eye. It wasn't hindering his eyesight atleast, though his head did feel weird after coming to this forest.

'How come the other elves didn't see anything off with my eye when they held me captive?'

Well...

Yoru always did like his hair being a bit long, his bangs always covered a part of his face all the time, the maids back home always cut his hair for him.

But now during the trials, he didn't really have the time to do so nor did he bother in fixing his hair.

After what felt forever, footsteps coming from behind the sliding door of the room they were put in were heard, shortly after there was a knock.

Adrian stood up after being nudged by his brother and he opened it revealing the elves and the elders and officers.

One of the guards came in and rolled a large leaf looking scroll and cleared his throat.

"The high elder and his loyal warriors request an assessment on the humans, you are to get ready three days from now."
