Chapter 20 - Practicing

"Let's go!" May shouted with great joy. She was happy to have a coffee at last. They all went to the coffee shop and they all have a coffee. He ordered cappuccino and then sat down.

"Renji, how was the taste of the coffee here?" She asked.

"It is better than before! I will drink coffee here from now on." Renji commented.

"That's good! We will make this our relaxing site. And to rest after basketball." She was happy that she could make them join in too to their safehaven.

"Eh!?" Renji was perplexed.

"What, you didn't like it here?" She pouted.

"Of course I like it! It was cold inside and the coffee was hot. Making a perfect relaxing place." Renji was making another comment. Then sipped the coffee. "I might visit frequently if I have the time and money."

"Renji, be honest!" She pouted again.

"I am, I am! Sheesh," he said.

They all were talking and then they all went home. Renji said his goodbye to them and they all separated ways.

He walked home and arrived at the court. He then felt excited and went to grab the ball. But then he felt sad, he remembered his loss and then he made a promise to himself that he would punish himself every time he lost into training exercises.

Making him lost now will make him practice two times. So he immediately went to shooting practice within the inside of three point line. He would shoot 50 times as he lost in the one on one against Aoi. With that, he would shoot another 50 if he would lose again.

He went home drenched in sweat and his uniform was sweaty. He immediately greeted his mom and he washed with a warm calming water. With that, he also cooked food and told his mom to buy meat from now on.

"Mom, I will train in basketball. I need to increase my carb and protein intake." He said to her.

"Okay, only if you got included in the varsity." She said to him while stirring the milk on the glass cup.

"Mom I am a second string player!" Renji announced.

"What! So you are already included in the varsity? Well that will make you have a free tuition. It means lesser expenses! Don't worry on your diet, I got this!" She winked.

"I love you mom! You're the best!" He then hugged her.

"Drink milk always okay?" She then gave him the cup and he drank.

He immediately rested that night and was fast asleep. He made his alarm to ring in 4 AM. He woke up early and then the alarm rang. Making him to wake up before the alarm sounded.

He immediately went to grab his basketball and then dressed in sweat shirt. Outside was cold and he went to jog towards the court while dribbling the ball.

He was in their court and was remembering last game... inhaling then make their scenes vivid in his memories.

Then he recreated the dunk of Aoi... He took a run on the half court and then leaped on the free throw line. He immediately fell even before he could arrive at the ring.

He landed on the floor slightly weak.

It was a fifty percent execution rate..... He still doesn't have the aerial dunk.

Though he was happy, his talent was slightly growing and with constant practice, he could revive it.

He made a promise that he would revive it in the future. With that, he practiced in the court and was enjoying his recreation.

He also imagined Aoi's slasher moves and dunks and realised that he was slower. His body needed flexibility to sudden movements so he would not injure himself. And also he needed strength.

His talent and copy abilities were useless if he could not execute them. And so he immediately made stretching sessions and he warmed up with sidesteps, footwork, sit ups, and dempsey roll of boxers.

He immediately repeats them with a rest in between. With dempsey roll added, he could slash faster than before. It was an effective evasion technique for boxers but for basketball, it was an excellent way of crossing over guards. It could even improve your upper body movements.

He then made strengthening exercises especially in his leg strength and also his thighs. It was an important aspect in jumping power. He also dribbled 50 times and rest then repeat. With that, he rested and went home.

His food was more protein now and more in carbohydrates...

Protein was for the muscles growth and repair and Carb for the energy consumption....

So he went to the nearby store and bought burgers....

He entered the store and also saw Xin.

"Xin! You're here!" Renji was shocked.

"Nice to meet you Renji. I need more carbs and protein too just like you." He waved at him.

"Yeah, I know, wait, how about exercise with me every morning. I could even make a proper training session for you!" Renji said to him.

"A training routine? Are you perhaps a gym trainer?" He asked.

"Not likely, more like a basketball trainer." Renji scratched his head.

"Wow, okay sure I'm in." He agreed.

"Good, let's meet in the local basketball court every morning from now on." Renji instructed him.

"Sure!" Xin nearly yelled. "We can even formulate a good combo or plays!"

"Yep, that included," Renji added.

"Well, see you at school gym in the afternoon. " Renji waved his goodbye.

"Sure, see yah." Xin replied.

With that, the two went home and then prepared to go to school. The Summer Cup was approaching and they went to prepare for the event.

Each one of them were training in their own and May also made a training workout for each one of them. Making them to train soon.

He then went to his room and afternoon came and he saw them practiced in the gym. All of them were all there and busy with May's trainings.

"Hey everyone's here!" Renji said to them.

"Hey Renji! You are late! Do a round of basic workouts and 2 reps. Make a small time to rest in between." May instructed.

"What!?" Renji was schocked.
