"Yeah, he's in his office," Michael replied.
"Thanks," Scott said as he grabbed an envelope from his bag, his fingers trembling slightly as he stood. He needed to get this over with.
He made his way toward Mr. Gray's office, but his two friends watched him go, the concern still evident on their faces.
"What's wrong with him?" Alyssa asked quietly, frowning.
Michael shook his head, his eyes narrowing. "Tell me when you find out."
Alyssa glared at Michael and muttered, "Idiot."
Michael smirked, crossing his arms. "Right back at you, my fellow idiot."
Meanwhile, Scott approached Mr. Gray's office, his steps heavy with hesitation. Stopping in front of the door, he sighed deeply and knocked.
"Come in," came the firm yet friendly voice from inside.
Scott pushed the door open and entered quietly. Mr. Gray looked up from his desk, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Well, if it isn't one of my best workers," he said, gesturing for Scott to take a seat.
