Vaelen appeared in front of Caius. Time seemed to slow.
He watched Caius, blood still on his lips.
How did he hit me? Vaelen wondered, holding back his attack, waiting to understand.
Then he saw it.
Caius blurred, his body turning transparent.
Gone.
"Spatial?" Vaelen froze, then felt a chill at his back.
He turned—Caius' fist was already coming.
Thankfully, his speed saved him. Vaelen leapt back, heart racing.
This exchange was faster than normal beings could even perceive.
