For several seconds, Timur simply stared at Ludwig hoping that whatever he just said was a joke.
The serious expression on Ludwig didn't portray that.
"You want me to offer them land and a bloody knighthood? People spend their entire lives trying to earn that. You can't hand out titles because someone volunteers to carry your luggage!"
Timur's voice filled the council room. Ludwig remained seated while Celine considered the proposal, paying more attention to the terms than to the captain's indignation.
"He can propose it. The authority to approve the grants belongs to the Marquisate, and I would oversee them. I haven't agreed yet, so let him explain exactly what he intends to offer."
"Anyone selected for the expedition who completes their assigned service receives a proper home and a parcel of land in Bastos. You oversee their knighthood, and we put everything in writing before departure. They should know what they're risking their lives for."
