Wade paused for a moment, turned to look at Sirius, then handed him the wand and said, "Then you do it."
"What?" Sirius asked.
"A Confundus Charm, a Muggle-Repelling Charm, or any spell really—just make that man take his family and leave the campsite. Tell him not to come back for the next few days," Wade said.
Hearing the request, Sirius fell silent for a moment. He turned to look at the dazed expression of the Muggle caretaker, and without asking why, he simply raised his wand and pointed.
A moment later, the Muggle man suddenly jumped as if his backside had been lit on fire, spun around, and ran off.
The wizard in the balloon-like trousers noticed this, but didn't pay much attention—after all, a simple Memory Charm wouldn't erase a Muggle's basic biological needs, like going to the loo.
Once the Muggle was gone, Wade and Sirius turned and walked back.
Sirius was quiet for a long time before finally giving a wry smile. "I always thought I was different from the rest of my family, but now I realize... I'm just as arrogant as they were."
He looked around at the countless wizards in the camp and said, "All of them are the same... deep down, they all look down on others."
Wade glanced at him, puzzled. "Why are you saying this all of a sudden?"
"We all know that repeated use of Memory Charms damages the brain, yet you're the only one who actually wants to help them," Sirius said with emotion. "Come on. Let's find the next one."
"The next one?" Wade paused in his steps. "There's more than one Muggle caretaker in the camp?"
"Of course," Sirius said.
"Muggles can't fly. With a campsite this big, how could just one person manage it? The caretaker for the first section was Roberts—the one we just sent away. The second section has someone named Payne, the third I think is Gibson… There are six in total."
Hearing this, Wade felt a lingering sense of dread and was immensely grateful he'd run into Sirius on the way out.
He had been brought here directly by Lupin and only vaguely remembered from the books that there was a Muggle caretaker, whose wife and child lived nearby—and that after the match, masked Death Eaters had used the family for amusement.
If not for Sirius, Wade would have only removed one of the Muggle caretakers at random, leaving the rest still vulnerable to being targeted by dark wizards—ultimately changing nothing.
The two of them then made a round of the campsite, discreetly removing every nearby Muggle and their families. Only after the last group jumped into their car and drove off did the Ministry finally begin to catch on—far too late.
Or rather, perhaps some of the Ministry staff wanted the Muggles gone. With the finals approaching and the number of wizards at the site increasing, magical phenomena were becoming harder and harder to hide.
In truth, the Muggle caretakers were of no actual help in managing the camp. They were essentially decorative—placed at the gate for show.
But in order to preserve their worldview, Ministry staff had to not only deal with frequent emergencies, but also cast over a dozen Memory Charms on the Muggles each day. It was exhausting for both sides.
So, with the silent consent and intentional neglect of some individuals, all the Muggles successfully left the site. More than half an hour later, someone finally "discovered" that the Muggle caretakers were missing and began reporting it up the chain.
…
"This is your backup wand, isn't it?" Sirius said, twirling the wand in his hand before handing it back to Wade. "Use it more often for small spells like cleaning charms. That way no one can trace anything with a Prior Incantato."
"Got it. But we're not done yet—we still have to find someone."
"Who?"
"Lucius Malfoy… and that crony of his, Goyle—Grover Goyle," Wade said.
Just like the tension between Draco and Crabbe, ever since Crabbe was injured, his father — the Mr Crabbe — had also developed a rift with Lucius Malfoy.
The Malfoy father and son both placed more trust in the Goyle family — even though the Goyles, no matter how you looked at them, didn't seem to have much going on in their heads.
But being dull has its advantages — at least there is less worry about betrayal.
That's why if Lucius Malfoy is up to something, Grover Goyle is likely to be in the know.
Also, the Malfoys love to show off. They are flamboyant, arrogant, and too conspicuous. The Goyle family, on the other hand, is an easy target — their presence is minimal.
"During the match earlier, I saw Lucius Malfoy sneaking around with some people — and every one of them looked like the rumored Death Eater types. I suspect they're planning something during the tournament," Wade said.
Then he tossed his wand to Sirius and took out another backup wand.
He had bought three secondhand wands back then, and now all three were coming in handy.
Sirius let out a cold laugh. "Those bastards are full of dirty tricks. If you told me they were plotting trouble, I wouldn't doubt it one bit."
Narcissa Malfoy is Sirius's cousin. Although the two families are like strangers now, Sirius still paid attention to the location of their tent.
Soon, Wade spotted an opulent tent like a miniature palace — decorated with striped silk and even a few live peacocks tied up at the entrance.
A bit further on, they found the Goyle family's tent. From the outside, it looked like a lighthouse — a gray, cylindrical tower with a pointed roof. In front of the tent was a large campfire, and Goyle was squatting nearby, hungrily grilling a few skewers of meat.
Wade and Sirius wordlessly circled around to a four-story tent nearby, ducked behind it, and cast Disillusionment Charms on themselves. A few seconds later, they strolled boldly past Goyle and into the tent.
The fat boy squatting on the ground scratched his face, noticing nothing at all.
On the first floor, a fat witch was using her wand to direct the kitchenware to wash themselves.
When they reached the second floor, they found Grover Goyle sprawled on a sofa with his arms and legs spread, watching a romance movie in the Streaming mirror. His eyes were slightly red, as though he was moved to tears.
"Stupefy!"
Grover Goyle was hit by a Stunning Spell. His head slumped as he passed out, and Sirius conjured several ropes to tie him up tightly.
"Do we take him or question him here?" Sirius asked. "If we're too loud, I'm worried someone might notice."
"No need to make it that complicated," Wade said, pulling out a crystal vial. "I brought Veritaserum."
Sirius stared for a moment. "…How do you have every potion? Polyjuice Potion, Veritaserum… These are all restricted! Even in official trials they're usually banned."
"I know," Wade replied calmly. "So, are we using it or not?"
"Of course… we're using it!"
Sirius pried open Goyle's mouth while Wade carefully dropped the potion in.
