Chapter 88 - Prologue- Personal business

Erick's POV:

- The weather is doing strange things.

Just a few minutes ago, a tornado could be seen in the distance before it turned blue and fell again. In front of me are the charred remains of the last giant in the area. When I look back toward the city square, I can see torrential rain falling on that part of the city.

- The Water Hero is really showing off there.

From a distance, I could see insane amounts of water pouring out of the earth and water to form something resembling a lizard. The imposing way it looks even from this distance takes my breath away. Soon, a bolt of lightning strikes in front of the dragon. Unlike the previous bolts, this one changes direction and takes the form of some kind of giant cat threatening the lizard.

- …. It really feels like two gods are fighting over there.

I sigh before starting to run in the direction of the fight. Since I'd already taken out all the giants, I had to go support the water hero to prevent further damage to the city.

- "Are you going somewhere?"

A voice filled with malice made me unconsciously jump to the side, narrowly avoiding a direct hit from a boulder. A giant crossbow had emerged from the ground in front of me, launching rocks in my direction. I tried to dive into a nearby building to avoid a direct hit, but the wall next to me was hit hard, sending debris tumbling toward me. I managed to create a wall of fire before it could reach me and retreat.

- "You fell in my trap!"

Before I could react, the ground I was standing on rapidly collapsed. I couldn't help but fall toward the edge of the underground canal beneath the city. A heavy impact was felt on my back by the cold stone floor. Although the air in my lungs nearly escaped, I managed to stabilize myself before being hit by another boulder that fell where my head had been. Without much time to rest. I gather what momentum I can to launch myself against the green crossbow that's throwing stones at me. A stone is thrown, but I somehow deflect it with my axe.

- Uggg

Even though I deflect it, the power of the shot itself causes me to flinch slightly from the impact. My arms scream in pain, but I know I don't have time to complain. I quickly charge forward against the crossbow, crushing it before it has time to reload. Before I can breathe a sigh of relief, a huge crash is heard behind me. When I turn around, the hallway leading to the dome I was in has collapsed leaving it in complete darkness. With the help of my axe, I create a small fire to illuminate the place I was standing in, only to be horrified.

- What the hell is this?

Stuck against the ceiling of the dome, a large number of red and orange flowers were in front of me. Their stems tangled around the walls like cobwebs as the flowers pointed toward me.

- "Welcome to your grave, hateful hero of fire."

A strange voice echoed throughout the dome.
