Chapter 3 - Invitation To Everyone

Message Through Word

Title: Invitation To Everyone

Bible Verse: Isaiah 55:1-7

1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,

 come to the waters;

and you who have no money,

 come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk

 without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,

 and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

 and you will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me;

 listen, that you may live.

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

 my faithful love promised to David.

4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,

 a ruler and commander of the peoples.

5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,

 and nations you do not know will come running to you,

because of the Lord your God,

 the Holy One of Israel,

 for he has endowed you with splendor."

6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;

 call on him while he is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake their ways

 and the unrighteous their thoughts.

Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,

 and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Introduction:

Invitation is extended to anyone not just to the Jews

Everyone, Jews and Gentiles, would one day be united in Jesus Christ in the church

(Ephesians 3:11-12)

I. Come (vv. 1-4)

1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,

 come to the waters;

and you who have no money,

 come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk

 without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,

 and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

 and you will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me;

 listen, that you may live.

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

 my faithful love promised to David.

4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,

 a ruler and commander of the peoples.

The Lord offer them everything they were laboring for

If they listen to His Word, they will be inclined to come, for God draws sinners to Himself through the Word (John 5:24)

24 "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

II. Seek (vv. 5-7)

5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,

 and nations you do not know will come running to you,

because of the Lord your God,

 the Holy One of Israel,

 for he has endowed you with splendor."

6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;

 call on him while he is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake their ways

 and the unrighteous their thoughts.

Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,

 and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Seeking the Lord means admitting that we are sinners and that we have offended the Holy God and repenting, changing one's mind about sin, and turning away from sin to the Lord

Conclusion:

- God closed the door on those who spurned His invitation

(Luke 13:16-24)

16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?"

17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

18 Then Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to?

19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches."

20 Again he asked, "What shall I compare the kingdom of God to?

21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough."

22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.

23 Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?"

He said to them,

24 "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

- "Behold, now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2)

2 For he says,

"In the time of my favor I heard you,

 and in the day of salvation I helped you."[a]

I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
