As the group ventured deeper into the kingdom, they found themselves constantly discussing the world they had been thrust into. The creatures they had fought, the strange powers emerging within each of them, and the powerful entities in the shadows all pointed to a deeper, more intricate system of strength that governed this world. Sitting around a campfire, after another long day of exploring, Edred decided to address something that had been bothering everyone: the classification of monsters and people.
Lianne leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "We've encountered different creatures, but I feel like we're only scratching the surface. Are there specific classifications for these monsters? What about us? Do we fall into categories as well?"
Edred took a deep breath. "There's a lot we don't know yet, but from what I've gathered, monsters here are classified based on their power, intelligence, and threat level. I've heard whispers about the different classes from the people we've met so far. Some classifications make sense, but others... we'll have to experience them firsthand."
The group settled down, eager to hear the details. Edred began his explanation, his voice low and serious as he outlined the classification system they'd have to contend with.
Monster Classes
Monsters were the primary threat in this world, and their classes were designed to give an understanding of how dangerous they were. While this classification system didn't account for every monster's intelligence or cunning, it provided a general idea of what kind of threat one could expect.
Feral Class – These were the weakest creatures, generally harmless or barely a threat. Wild animals, small insects, or creatures with no real intelligence fell into this category. They were often pests and could be easily dealt with even by civilians.
Example: Rabbits, low-level beasts, and mindless creatures.
Beast Class – A step above the Feral class, these monsters possessed both strength and intelligence but were often territorial and non-sentient. They could cause harm but were generally avoidable unless provoked.
Example: Wolves, large predatory animals, and aggressive forest creatures.
Savage Class – More dangerous than Beasts, Savage class monsters had some degree of intelligence and often hunted in packs. They could overpower small groups of inexperienced fighters and required a team of skilled individuals to deal with them.
Example: Direwolves, large wildcats, and mutated creatures.
Warrior Class – These monsters were not only dangerous but also intelligent. They could learn from their mistakes and grow stronger over time. Warrior class monsters could decimate entire villages if left unchecked.
Example: Ogres, trolls, and powerful magical beasts.
Titan Class – This classification was for monsters that towered over humans and posed a significant threat to entire towns or cities. They were massive, often elemental in nature, and could cause widespread destruction. A single Titan class monster could take an army to defeat.
Example: Giants, ancient dragons, and gargantuan beasts.
Calamity Class – Calamity class monsters were rare but incredibly dangerous. They had the intelligence of a human, the power of a natural disaster, and the malevolence of a warlord. A Calamity class monster could obliterate an entire kingdom if not dealt with swiftly.
Example: Ancient dragons, undead kings, and abyssal creatures.
Disaster Class – The highest known classification. A Disaster class monster was beyond comprehension. These creatures could reshape landscapes and alter the course of history. Only a handful had ever been recorded, and most were considered legends. Entire civilizations had been wiped out by these beings.
Example: World-ending beasts, demonic entities, and forgotten gods.
As Edred finished explaining, Jericho spoke up, his voice thoughtful. "So, the creature Edred fought when Kirby followed him... that was a Disaster class monster?"
Kirby, who had been quiet since witnessing Edred's fight, nodded slowly. "Yeah. I've never seen anything like it. It moved with such force and malice. And Edred… he fought it like it was nothing. It was terrifying and impressive at the same time."
Lianne looked at Edred with newfound respect. "You fought a Disaster class monster alone?"
Edred shrugged, a bit sheepishly. "It wasn't alone at first. But I've learned some new skills that helped me take it down. It's not something I plan to do again anytime soon, though."
Vnz leaned back, rubbing his chin. "If monsters are classified like this, then what about us? Do we have classes too?"
Human (and Demihuman) Classes
Edred nodded, pulling out a rough piece of parchment he had found during one of his explorations. "Yes, there are classes for people too. Like the monsters, our abilities and strengths are divided into categories. Some of these classes are more common, but others are incredibly rare."
Common Class – This was the base class for most people. Commoners, villagers, and those with no special abilities fell into this category. They had little to no combat prowess and relied on skilled warriors for protection.
Example: Farmers, tradesmen, merchants.
Warrior Class – Those who trained in combat and had developed fighting skills were often classified as Warriors. These people were a step above the average citizen and could defend themselves against threats.
Example: Soldiers, mercenaries, knights.
Mage Class – People who could wield magic fell into this category. They had access to a wide range of abilities, from elemental magic to healing. Mages were versatile, but their power depended on their experience and training.
Example: Wizards, sorcerers, healers.
Knight Class – Knights were elite warriors who had honed their combat skills to perfection. They were the backbone of kingdoms and often served as leaders in times of war. Their strength was formidable, and their loyalty was unwavering.
Example: Royal guards, commanders, high-ranking soldiers.
Assassin Class – Those who excelled in stealth, speed, and precision fell into this category. Assassins could take down enemies without being seen and were known for their agility and deadly accuracy.
Example: Rogues, spies, shadow warriors.
Legendary Class – This rare class was reserved for individuals who had reached an extraordinary level of power. They possessed abilities far beyond what most people could achieve and were often seen as heroes or champions.
Example: Legendary knights, grand mages, champions of war.
Divine Class – The rarest and most powerful class. Those who reached the Divine class were often seen as gods among men. Their abilities were unmatched, and they could perform feats that defied logic and reason. Very few ever reached this level, and those who did were remembered in myths and legends.
Example: Heroes of legend, demigods, divine warriors.
Lianne's eyes widened as she listened. "So, we all fall into one of these classes?"
Edred nodded. "Yes, though I suspect we're not all fully aware of our own potential yet. There are certain things we haven't tapped into, skills and abilities that will come with time and training."
Jericho, who had been quiet for a while, suddenly spoke up. "This explains a lot. Why some of us are stronger, why some of us are able to do things that seem impossible. We're evolving in this world."
Lianne looked around at her friends, her voice filled with determination. "We need to keep growing stronger. If the threats we're facing are going to keep getting worse, we can't afford to stay at our current levels. We have to push ourselves beyond our limits."
Vnz chuckled. "Easy there, Lianne. We're strong, but we don't have to turn into monsters ourselves."
Edred smiled but remained serious. "Lianne's right. The challenges ahead aren't going to get easier. If we want to survive and protect each other, we need to understand our classes and push them to their limits. That's the only way we'll be able to handle whatever this world throws at us."
As they continued their conversation, the night grew darker, and the stars twinkled above them like silent watchers. The campfire flickered, casting shadows that danced in the breeze. Each of them contemplated the paths ahead, the strength they would need, and the enemies they would face. They had come far, but there was still much further to go.
And as they stared into the flames, they realized that this was only the beginning.
To be continued...
