Chapter 3 - Reincarnation?

Ritsuka then looked at Ereshkigal. "So, um, why did he call me 'The same one who saved Uruk?' what does that mean".

Ereshkigal just sighed and she spoke. "Wil during the end of the age of gods, something happend I don't remember clearly only bits and memory, same for everyone else, there was someone with the same name as you, and I don't remember he did something that saved a lot of the people in our during king Gilgamesh time, I don't remember it is like that whole thing was wiped out of will existing or the timelines".

Ritsuka just looked at her. "So am I some type of Reincarnation? Of a hero".

Ereshkigal nodded slowly, her expression thoughtful. "It's possible. The person Ishtar mentioned might have been someone with a significant role in the past, perhaps even a hero or saviour. It's not unusual for legends to become intertwined with reality, and your name and actions seem to have resonated with the past."

Ritsuka frowned, trying to piece together the implications. "So, if there's a connection to a past hero, does that mean I have any special abilities or powers linked to that person?"

Ereshkigal tilted her head, considering the question. "It's hard to say for certain. The details of that time are murky, and memories of such events can be fragmented or distorted. However, the fact that Ishtar recognized you suggests there's something significant about you—something that connects you to past heroes or events."

[ It seems the host's presence resonates with a past event or individual, but without more information, it's difficult to determine the full extent of these connections. ]

Ritsuka sighed, feeling both intrigued and confused. "I guess this means I have a lot to learn about myself and my past."

Ereshkigal gave him a reassuring smile. "Yes, and with the help of the Death System and the other entities connected to you, you might uncover more about your past and its significance. For now, we should focus on understanding your new abilities and responsibilities."

Ritsuka nodded, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "Alright. I'll take it one step at a time. Thanks for the explanation, Ereshkigal."

Ereshkigal's smile widened, and she gently squeezed his hand. "You're welcome. We'll figure this out together. And remember, you're not alone in this."

As they continued to talk, Ritsuka began to feel more comfortable in his new surroundings. Despite the uncertainties and the enigmatic connections to his past, he felt a sense of determination to uncover the truth and embrace the journey ahead.

A few weeks later

As Ritsuka fell through the underworld, his scream echoing through the dark expanse, he struggled to grasp the rapidly approaching ground. Panic surged through him, but he had no way to stop or slow his descent.

Ereshkigal, standing alongside Hades and the Egyptian god Osiris, watched with a mixture of worry and frustration. Despite her attempts to break free from Osiris's grip, her concern for Ritsuka was evident.

"Let me go, Osiris! I have to help him!" Ereshkigal pleaded, her voice trembling with urgency.

Osiris, his expression calm yet firm, held Ereshkigal back. "It is not your place to intervene in every situation. Ritsuka must face these challenges on his own. The master cannot die from this."

Hades nodded in agreement, his gaze unwavering. "Our master has been granted exceptional resilience and power. This fall, though perilous, will not be the end of him. He needs to experience and overcome these trials to truly harness his abilities."

Despite her fears, Ereshkigal reluctantly released her struggle and watched as Ritsuka continued his plummet. She tried to focus on her confidence in his strength and the assurance that he would survive this test.

Ritsuka's mind raced as he approached the ground. He desperately tried to think of a solution, his thoughts chaotic and scrambled. Just as the ground seemed imminent, he felt a strange shift in his body, a surge of energy he had never experienced before.

In that critical moment, the Death System's interface appeared before him, displaying various options and commands that could help him navigate this dire situation.

[ Host, activate the "Void Walk" ability to halt your descent and create a safe landing. This will utilize a fraction of your stored energy and can be retried if unsuccessful. ]

Ritsuka, driven by both instinct and the system's guidance, activated the "Void Walk" ability. A sudden force enveloped him, and his fall was abruptly halted. He floated in mid-air, suspended by an unseen force.

Breathing heavily, Ritsuka glanced around, trying to orient himself. The void around him seemed to pulse with energy, and he realized that he had just tapped into a new facet of his abilities.

Meanwhile, Ereshkigal, Hades, and Osiris watched with varying degrees of relief and curiosity.

Ereshkigal sighed in relief. "He did it... He did it."

Hades glanced at Ereshkigal with a faint smile. "As I said, he will survive and adapt. This experience will only make him stronger."

Osiris, though still reserved, nodded in acknowledgement. "It seems he is indeed capable of handling these trials. Let us observe and see how he progresses further."

With newfound determination, Ritsuka prepared to continue his journey, now equipped with a deeper understanding of his powers and the challenges that lay ahead.

Ritsuka landed smoothly, his descent coming to a controlled stop. Ereshkigal rushed to him, wrapping him in a tight embrace. Ritsuka returned the hug, gently patting her head to comfort her.

After a moment, he turned to Hades and Osiris with a bemused expression. "You two are real pieces of work. Who kicks a guy off his picnic date with his wife?"

Hades raised an eyebrow, clearly unbothered by Ritsuka's reproach. "We did not intend to interfere with your time. The circumstances required it. You needed to experience and overcome these trials to grow stronger."

Osiris, his demeanour more stoic, added, "Ritsuka, as much as we value your well-being, you must understand that you are now intertwined with the forces of death and the responsibilities that come with them. There are many trials ahead that you must face alone."

Ereshkigal, still holding onto Ritsuka, looked up at him apologetically. "I'm sorry about all this. I didn't mean to cause any trouble. I just wanted to make sure you were safe."

Ritsuka smiled, his irritation fading as he looked at Ereshkigal. "It's alright, Ereshkigal. I know you meant well. And as for you two," he turned back to Hades and Osiris, "I guess I'll have to get used to this kind of treatment. Thanks for the… unique training."

Hades smirked slightly. "Consider it a part of your initiation. The path you're on will be filled with challenges, but if you can handle us, you'll be prepared for whatever comes next."

Ritsuka stared at the system notification with a mix of astonishment and curiosity. "Well, damn."

Ereshkigal, still holding him, looked at the system screen with wide eyes. "What's going on, dear? What's all this?"

Hades and Osiris, intrigued by the sudden development, leaned in to inspect the notification.

The system continued:

[ Congratulations, Host! You have received your first template: the Dragon Template. To be more specific, you have acquired the Draconic Dragon of Death and Chaos template. Additionally, you have obtained the Dragon Blood Template. ]

Ritsuka blinked, absorbing the information. "So, what exactly does this mean?"

The system responded:

[ The Dragon Template will grant you abilities and powers associated with dragons, particularly those of death and chaos. This includes enhanced physical abilities, elemental control, and resilience. The Dragon Blood Template will further augment your potential, granting you extraordinary regenerative capabilities and increased mana reserves. ]

Ereshkigal's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That sounds amazing! You're going to be even more powerful now."

Hades nodded in approval. "A dragon's power is formidable. With the Draconic Dragon of Death and Chaos template, you will wield significant influence over both life and death. It will certainly aid you in the challenges ahead."

Osiris, though less expressive, offered a rare nod of respect. "Such templates are not granted lightly. You have the potential to reshape the balance between life and death."

Ritsuka took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the new power within him. "Thanks. I guess this is a good start, then. I'll need to make sure I'm ready for whatever comes next."

Ereshkigal squeezed his hand gently. "We'll be here to support you, Ritsuka. Whatever challenges you face, we'll face them together."

With newfound resolve and the support of his divine companions, Ritsuka prepared himself for the journey ahead, ready to embrace his new abilities and the responsibilities they entailed.

Hades then looked at the system. "May I ask what made this template his first one out of all the ones out there in the multiverse?".

The system responded promptly:

[ The selection of the Dragon Template as the first template for Host was determined based on several factors. Primarily, the Dragon Template aligns with the concept of death and chaos, which resonates deeply with the Host's unique connection to the forces of death. Additionally, the Dragon Template provides a strong foundational power base that will enhance the Host's abilities as they progress. ]

Hades raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. So, the connection to death and chaos played a significant role in choosing this template."

The system continued:

[ Correct. The Draconic Dragon of Death and Chaos template was chosen to complement the Host's inherent link to death and the chaotic aspects of existence. This template offers both offensive and defensive capabilities, making it a versatile starting point for the Host's journey. ]

Osiris nodded thoughtfully. "That makes sense. A powerful template like this will give you a solid footing as you explore the multiverse and face the various challenges that lie ahead."

Ritsuka looked at the system, then at his companions. "Well, I suppose it's a good thing to start strong. Thanks for the insight."

Ereshkigal smiled at him. "With this power, you'll be even more incredible. We'll make sure you're well-prepared to harness it effectively."

Ritsuka looked at the system. "When will this template be fully taken over by my body".

[ Calculating, current progress, 00.5% at current speed 2 years ]

Ereshkigal just looked at the System, a bit annoyed. "Hey, that is not fair".

The system responded with a calm tone:

[ The progress rate is based on the current adaptation of the template within the Host's body. Accelerating the process will require specific actions or conditions to be met. The host may need to engage in activities that align with the Dragon Template's characteristics or face challenges that push the limits of their current abilities. ]

Hades nodded. "Indeed, it can be expedited with the right measures. Perhaps integrating more directly with the dragon's power or undergoing specific trials could help."

Osiris added, "Training and experience will also play a significant role. Embracing the template's nature and pushing your boundaries can accelerate its integration."

Ereshkigal looked at Ritsuka with a hopeful expression. "There are ways to speed this up. We'll figure it out together, and I'll support you however I can."

Ritsuka smiled reassuringly at Ereshkigal. "Thanks for the encouragement. I'll do whatever it takes to make the most of this power and advance faster."

With a renewed sense of purpose, Ritsuka began to prepare for the challenges ahead, knowing that both the support of his companions and his efforts would be crucial in mastering his new template.

Later that night in the human world, even though Ritsuka spends most of his time in the nexus of the underworld, he also spends time in the human world, his home.

Ritsuka was cuddling with Ereshkigal before he spoke. "I think it is time".

Ereshkigal stopped and looked at him. "Do you really wanna go to another world?".

Ritsuka just looked at her and kissed her. "Yeah, we talked about this. When I get my first template, I will use the system to go to another world; all of you guys (all death gods) decide this is the best option, remember?".

Ereshkigal just sighed. "But I don't want you to leave; I want you to stay with me and only me, even though you said you want to form a harem so you can have a big family".

Ritsuka just sighed and looked at her. "Do you have to bring up the Harem part".

Ereshkigal's eyes softened as she nestled closer to Ritsuka. "I just want to make sure you understand how much I care about you and how much I want to be a part of your life. I know the idea of a harem is important to you, but I worry about the distance and what it might mean for us."

Ritsuka gently brushed a strand of hair from her face. "I understand, and I care about you deeply too. This journey is something I need to do to grow stronger and learn more about myself and the multiverse. But I promise, no matter where I go, you will always be a part of my heart."

Ereshkigal's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I know, and I support you. I just hope you'll come back to me, and that you won't forget what we have."

Ritsuka cupped her face in his hands and kissed her softly. "I'll always remember what we have. I want you to know that this is just a part of the journey. I'll be back, and we'll face whatever comes next together."

Ereshkigal nodded, taking a deep breath. "Alright. Just be careful, and know that I'll be waiting for you."

Ritsuka smiled warmly and held her close. "I will. Thank you for understanding and for being by my side."

Later that night, as Ritsuka prepared to use the system to travel to another world, he carried with him the love and support of Ereshkigal and the lessons learned from his experiences. With a final, lingering kiss, he activated the system, ready to embark on his next adventure with a heart full of purpose and hope.
