He waved his hand and lifted the woman, staggering towards the second floor.
His unsteady steps caused the woman in his arms to scream loudly, and laughter echoed from downstairs.

As the door of the second-floor private room shut, the people downstairs withdrew their gazes and continued their boisterous drinking.
After a long while, someone muttered, "Why has the Earl been up there so long today? He usually would have come down by now."
