Kaeya wasn't surprised that the Ausbilder had offended someone in another nation.
Judging by his personality, it would actually be stranger if he hadn't offended anyone.
But what kind of person could possibly force someone like the Ausbilder to flee all the way to Mondstadt?
As for Inazuma, Kaeya didn't know much. Since the nation had closed its borders, Mondstadt hadn't been in contact with any intelligence agents there for a long time.
Liyue, on the other hand, was different. Kaeya had once gathered some information related to Ausbilder.
No matter how he looked at it, the one who hated the Ausbilder enough to grind his teeth over it was the Fatui's Eleventh Harbinger, Childe.
Could it be that he'd offended a colleague and fled to Mondstadt to avoid being squeezed out?
"So, Mr. Ausbilder is only staying in Mondstadt temporarily?"
Taking the first sip of his wine, Kaeya asked in a probing tone.
No matter what, he had to figure out how long the Ausbilder intended to stay.
If he planned to settle in Mondstadt long-term…
Kaeya had a feeling he wouldn't have a single peaceful night's sleep for a long time.
"That should be about right."
Bai Luo glanced at him, seeing straight through Kaeya's little scheme.
He neither confirmed nor denied it, just gave a vague answer.
"I wonder if the accommodations at the Goth Grand Hotel are to your liking? Perhaps the Knights of Favonius could arrange a different residence for you?"
Though he spoke of arranging a new residence, Kaeya's true intention was simply to keep the Ausbilder under closer watch, preferably somewhere near his own quarters.
No matter how reluctant he sounded when speaking about the Ausbilder, since he had chosen to make contact with him proactively, he would see the matter through to the end.
It was precisely this sense of responsibility that earned him Jean's deep trust and made him her capable deputy.

"Speaking of which, Mr. Ausbilder, did you come to Mondstadt to look for someone?"
Seeing the moment was right, Jean picked up the dandelion wine and refilled Bai Luo's glass as she asked.
This, after all, was one of the main purposes of the welcome party.
"Mm, you could say I'm looking for someone."
Bai Luo wasn't surprised that Mondstadt's higher-ups knew about this.

At first, Kaeya thought that the Ausbilder was just making excuses and stringing him along.

This was only their first round of maneuvering against Ausbilder. There would be plenty of opportunities later. No need to push him too far.
Of course, that didn't mean he had no ulterior motives.
Originally, following Diluc's suggestion, they had planned to bring some lower-alcohol dandelion wine from Dawn Winery.
After all, Diluc wasn't particularly good at drinking. There had even been an incident where he'd been knocked out by strong liquor.
But Kaeya was different.
After Diluc had been lured away by the Ausbilder, Kaeya returned to the winery alone.

Everyone in Mondstadt knew that the place one was most likely to encounter the Cavalry Captain wasn't the Knights' headquarters, but the taverns at night.
What he excelled at most was skillfully guiding half-drunk patrons into baring their hearts.
