The two of them discussed the wholesale market, all the way until the aroma of the steamed cake base drifted over. Xu Nianhua hurriedly took out the cake base.
Without an oven, the steamed cake base wasn't quite as good in appearance or texture, but the soft, steamed cake with a layer of cream on top should taste just as nice.
As for decorating the cake, Xu Nianhua felt a little regret—there weren't suitable ingredients on hand. In the end, she decided to arrange watermelon pieces on top; they'd look just as pretty.
Xu Nianhua set the steamed cake base aside to cool. Seeing the time was about right, she took out the cream and, using a fruit knife, carefully spread it over the cake. Smoothing it out wasn't easy.
With Pei Yicheng's help, Xu Nianhua finally finished the cake. She decorated it with bright red watermelon, putting special effort into scooping little ball-shaped pieces. They looked just like red pearls, dotted across the cake, making it extra beautiful!
