Chapter 167 - Descent Of Hell

From the west people fled east, and vice versa, all in an extreme panic. Their fear, clear, and present on their faces. The sights they witnessed were straight out of a hellish nightmare. Once they reached a fortified city, aptly named Fort City Iar.

A Guardsman of the city, perched upon the highest watch tower, using a long scope, trembled. "Just what in the hell is happening?" He gulped, trying to get a further view, making adjustments to his scope. "AH!" He dropped his scope.

"What's wrong! What happened?!" Their partner shouted, about to ring the emergency bell.

"Refugees, a lot of them. Too many of them. But something is wrong. They aren't in a caravan, or anything like that. They're running, terrified. Like they saw hell." The first guard said panting like he had just ran a marathon. He offered the scope up. "I'm so exhausted, even with that crazy training we do, I was not prepared to feel like this."

The other guard took the scope and focused on the faces of the people running. He shivered, then raised to look if there was something behind the horde of refugees. "FIVE RINGS NOW!" He shouted out, not caring if it sounded like he was ordering his peers around.

The bell tolled. It rang out once, the city came to a halt. This wasn't a pleasant sound. The second toll rang out, The soldiers all prepared their equipment. The third bell tolled, the reserves were summoned. The fourth bell tolled, civilians prepared their own equipment ready to leave with their families at a moment's notice. Then came the fifth bell…

At the sound of the bell, everyone waited hoping that the canceling bell would sound. It remained silent. A terrifying silence, the only sound was the rattling of loose items in the wind. The fort commander's face sunk for a moment, he woke up and left his bed, warmed from both sides. Dressed himself for battle, and presentation. A butler delivered a scroll to him.

"To think the day would come where I would have no choice but to call for aid from them." He said, picking the scroll up.

"It's fine, they are the ones who provided this item to us for moments exactly like this. Someone will come to aid us." The butler affirmed.

"What exactly is the situation?"

"A horde of refugees, apparently the guards who've seen their expressions, they describe it as if they've lost all sense of hope."

"Well, that's to be expected from those who don't bother offering up their prayers of gratitude to the Goddess… Not like I'm much better-"

"Sir, if I may say so. There's no small difference between being respectful to the Goddess, and being completely obstinate to her. We here have a large population that while they don't outright worship her, they respect her for all she's done."

"True, in that case, I'll call for aid. I don't know what kind of hell awaits us, but even if we lose our lands, I'd rather lose it to Tus Nadair, than to some evil entity." The commander sighed, recalling his dream. I can't let anyone know what that nightmare was like. We need Nadairian support to face this threat. He used the scroll…

"Hello? This is Earra, where are you calling from and what kind of support do you need?"

"I am the commander of the Fort City Iar. We have a horde of refugees incoming, far too many for us to support. And I suspect there is something truly hellish chasing after them. I am hereby formally requesting all support required. Armies, aid, and intelligence gathering." Earra sighed… "Is that alright?"

"Oh, yes, it's just everyone is calling with the same requests. Rest assured that support is on the way. The eldest of my brothers is already on his way there, Telam. The force that serves directly under him should arrive shortly after with all supplies you need."

"Thank you, Lady Earra. I swear we won't fall before help arrives."

…

"How did it go, my lord?"

"Prepare to accept all refugees. Let us show our grit, and our grace. We won't be alone in this fight. Aid is on the way."

"Most excellent news sir!"

"Earra, was that another call for support?"

"That's right, mother-aunt Anastasi. There are requests popping up everywhere, it's like there's no end to the number of enemies."

"I have a bad feeling about this. I wonder if my father's influence increased the number of horrible summoned players."

"I'm more worried about what will happen if we fail to keep this under control. The continent-"

Anastasi moved in to shush Earra, doing so with a quick kiss, then smiled. "Let us not worry about what might happen. For now, we should only do what we can. Nations have already fallen to these new invaders."

"Then will my brothers be fine on their own, I wonder?"

"It depends, but if I had to wager, your generation is the strongest generation of dragons. Even if they can't win, it shouldn't take much more support to push them over the victory line. Besides, Sil thinks it's about time the continent starts to take matters of their own safety into their own hands."

"So, soon we'll be going along with that plan."

"Indeed, the continent shouldn't be relying on us anyway. Not without being our own territory anyway. Since we've never wanted that, we will follow that plan."

The Great Dragon Mother's nation, it was no longer a place where people lived under the protection of the dragons, dragons were actively hunting, as if they were being controlled by some kind of madness.

"Damn it, how could she do this?!"

"That's the effect my father's soul has on us of his kin. Though it won't work on me, I'm too strong to be swayed by his domineering control."

"Neither am I. I'm going to kill him. More than once! Enough time that it won't matter if he's reborn again. He'll forever lose that emperor's control."

"I agree, seeing my kin in this state, knowing that most of them don't even like humanoid meat… It's infuriating."

"Well, we're here. Twin Cast! [Arch-Maximzied-Boosted-Widened-Magic Earthquake & Stream of Lava]!"

Night Silver's opening move was clearly a gambit that completely destroyed the giant building holding the majority of the dragons, Including the Great Mother & the newly christened Emperor.

"I haven't seen you wearing that getup in a while, whore."

"Being called a whore might as well be a badge of honor when coming from a backstabbing bitch like yourself."
