The second round was down and they were down to 48 disciples. It seemed that some matches resulted in both being unable to continue.
His next opponent was a man with proficiency in the sword and a user of the fire element.
He had many attacks and combinations but he had one flaw, he was slow. And that was all Avon needed.
Avon dodged all the attacks and moved lightning quick to land a punch in the man's face. The man fainted with just one punch.
It was again easy for him. It seemed that Silea knew that speed would be the deciding factor and trained him accordingly. He was very thankful to her training.
Hence the third round was also done. So far he hadn't used his dagger for attacking. He only used it to block attacks.
The third round had only 20 disciples left.
His next match was with a woman who was dressed in black and had dagger like him.
She attacked aggressively and was fast too. She was the fastest opponent he faced so far. He had watched her fight before too and knew she could use wind. He didn't want to give her any chance so he attacked her at his highest speed. She was still managing to keep up.
He managed to land a kick on her side and as she lost balance, he was ready with his next strike to push her back but a gust of wind pushed him to his left. The wind was very strong. Again, another gust of wind pushed him back. The woman came at him again and she attacked him from the right and as he was about to dodge a gust of wind hit him from the left, he was pushed towards her incoming dagger and placed his hand to protect himself, he felt the fabric of his clothes tear and the dagger drag a cut across his forearm.
He quickly caught her hand with his left hand and kicked her hard in the gut. He still didn't let of her hand and immediately kicked her side. The using his dagger he slashed at her cutting her all over.
At last she managed to kick him in the face and his grip over her arm broke. But that was it. He had managed to slash her all over her torse and she was bleeding plenty. Right now he was less injured.
He again rushed to attack her and being injured she wasn't able to block in time. She was quickly pushed back and in a last ditch effort she summoned wind, but this time it was full of dust, hse was trying to blind him.
Avon didn't let her completer her attack and pushed her off the edge of the ring with a hard kick straight to the gut.
He had won again. This time, it was slightly difficult.
Now there were only 8 participants left.
As the round was down and announcement was made, it was finally the time for the wing masters, the sect master and the knight to join them. They were going to witness the final round of this tournament.
Avon looked at his master who had a small smile on her face as always and looked at the knight. A man with long purple hair and purple robes. He was tall and intimidating.
His master seemed to not care about all that and just looked at him. She had a proud look on her face.
Avon looked at sect master, she was a tall and beautiful woman with silver hair and crimson eyes. She had fair skin and a stern look on her face. She wore a silver dress with a red flower design on them.
Avon looked at the remaining disciples. The space manipulator and the time manipulator, both had made it through. There was one more who was defeating her opponents by not moving at all. Somehow she made them suffocate without laying a finger on them. One more was a person who was very proficient in using thunder, earth and fire. Another woman who was extremely fast, almost as fast as Avon and had some way of not letting enemies enter within a meter of her.
Avon wondered if she had a spatial capability too, like locking the space around her or something.
There was also a man who could manipulate sound and water.
And another woman who could manipulate luminiscense. She was capable of blinding her opponents and almost making herself invisible.
Among all of these, it was only Avon who couldn't manipulate any elements and only relied on his weapon and speed. To defeat the people before him, he had act before they could prepar their attack. Otherwise he could lose.
The first match was between the space manipulator and the luminiscense manipulator.
The space manipulating woman won.
The next match was between the time manipulator and the sound manipulator. It was a close match but the time manipulator won.
After that it was Avon's match with the fast woman.
Avon considered himself lucky to be put against her. As soon as the bell rang, he rushed towards her with his dagger. He wanted to reach her before she locked the space around her. He almost made it when his entire body forze. He was within a meter of her but she forze the space. So now they both were stuck.
But she made a mistake. It was now obvious that Avon would win. The wing masters knew this the moment she froze the space. Some of the audience didn't understand what was happening.
Stuck in space, Avon could feel the momentum in his body frozen too. It was an odd feeling, but he knew now that the moment she would unfreeze the space, his attack would land. This was because he had his momentum but she was still before the freeze took place. So even when unforseen, she would still need time to move where as Avon would move the moment space was unlocked.
And she knew that as well. Seeing no way out, she unlocked the space and Avon's attack landed.
A big deep slash across her torso.
She screamed in agony. Avon didn't give her a moment's time and moved behind her, before she could do anything, he caught her attire by the collar and threw her like an object. She fell out of the ring.
Immediately the medics healed her and Avon had won. He got a little lucky as the situation was not something he could have predicted. If she was capable only locking her surroundings somehow not herself, then he would've been in trouble.
The fourth match was won by the woman who again simply suffocated the enemy as soon as the match began.
Of the remaining four, the first match was between the time manipulator and the Suffocate woman.
Avon had decided to call that woman the Suffocate woman because her name was too long.
'Astor Ingol Ringol whatever. She is Suffocate woman!"
He thought.
This time, the time manipulator managed to stop time before she could do anything and threw her out.
Avon looked at the woman before him in the ring. She had a black attire with purple lines on it. She had purple eyes and black hair. She was very beautiful and had fair skin.
As soon as the bell rang, Avon rushed backward rather than forward. This was because the woman was teleporting herself manipulating space. And every match she would teleport right behind her opponents and attack them.
In the later rounds some tried to counter by turning back as soon as the match started but she had the momentum.
So Avon, relying on his speed rushed backward hoping he would take enough steps back to be behind her even when she would teleport. And that was what happened.
She teleported behind where Avon was a second ago, but now he was behind her.
He knew if he pushed her, she would fall forward but go out of his reach and teleport before he could reach her , no matter how fast he moved.
So he pulled her instead. He caught her hand and pulled it back as hard as he could and *bam* he hit her using the butt of his dagger right in the back.
She grunted and fell. Then not letting this opportunity go, he caught her again and threw her from the ring. Because of his speed, whenever he threw someone they go quite the distance and fall off of the ring.
He expected the same here but she teleported mid-air. And fell down right in the middle of the ring. Not letting her regain her footing he rushed towards her and landed a kick to her side.
He knew to not let her go so he immediately closed the distance again and caught one hand of hers and swept he feet off the ground. She fell on the ground with her hand still caught by him.
It seemed that she could teleport only herself and that too when no one is not in physical contact with anything but air. He had noticed that how before teleporting, she always jumped slightly cutting off contact with the ground.
But now that he was still holding her hand, she couldn't teleport.
She immediately tried to stand up using her feet but Avon simply pulled her arm and she lost balance again.
Having had enough, she used her feet to land a strong kick on his legs. He lost balance momentarily but it was enough for her get up in that time.
She used a dagger to slash at his arm and he, out of reflex, let go of her arm.
Then she teleported behind him and gave a strong kick to the back. Then she teleported to before him and gave a punch right to his face.
*Bam*
Avon fell backwards. He decided to not waste a second trying to regain his balance and rolled backward. She rushed towards him when he suddenly stopped and kick straight upwards.
She stopped just in time and caught his foot right before her face. Then he caught one leg of hers and pulled hard. She lost her balance momentarily and he twisted about one hand of his. She let go of his leg because of the sudden movements and he jumped backwards.
It was difficult to overpower her and they were almost equal in speed.
So he decided to do something different.
In the time he took to stand up, she was up too. She rushed towards him and he just moved backwards moving beyond the range of her attacks. She continued rushing forwards and he backwards. Soon he was near the edge when she attacked again but he sidestepped and caught her hand and pulled it, she got thrown off the edge but again teleported mid-air behind him.
And he was counting on her doing that. He had already begun his next move. The moment she teleported behind him, she saw a kick coming towards her from her left. She couldn't move out of its way because she still hadn't touched the ground.
The moment her feet landed, the kick did too.
But this time the kick had her trapped. Avon turned his body 180 degrees and dragged her off the ring's edge again. This time she didn't have any time to react. He had angled his kick downwards at the end. So she pushed directly downwards from the edge and had no time to teleport.
She could've teleported if she wasn't so tired but her body was aching with all the hits she took and finally her back touched floor.
Avon had won. The woman, still on the floor, looked up at the man hiding his face below the hood.
From below she could get a clearer look at his jaw.
As her eyes trailed above, her eyes widened.
"Avon?"
She called out in a low tone.
