Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 A Scream

The three of them left the mall, and the Little Witch, Liu Shiyu, reverted to her usual self as if nothing had happened. Liu Shilin and Lin Kuang chatted intermittently as the trio walked into a steakhouse.

Liu Shilin and Liu Shiyu both ordered a black pepper steak and a glass of juice, though Shiyu also added a serving of spaghetti. When it was his turn, Lin Kuang simply ordered two steaks, two servings of spaghetti, and an entire bottle of juice.

Actually, Lin Kuang didn't care for this type of food, but since Liu Shilin had brought him here, he couldn't very well complain.

"Such a glutton. A total foodie," the Little Witch muttered.

As usual, Lin Kuang couldn't be bothered with her and simply sat there, minding his own business.

Before long, their steaks and spaghetti arrived, and they began to eat.

Little Witch Liu Shiyu had expected that hooligan Lin Kuang to start gorging himself, and she was ready to look down on him for it. But when she saw how he handled his knife and fork, she was so shocked her jaw nearly dropped.

His use of the cutlery was impeccable. In fact, every movement carried a unique aristocratic air. His elegance made the Little Witch feel utterly inadequate; the gap between them was just too vast.

This was something even the level-headed Liu Shilin hadn't anticipated. She had originally assumed Lin Kuang was just an ordinary person. However, after a few brief interactions, it was clear this man was anything but. His flawless aristocratic etiquette, for example, was something that simply couldn't be mastered without a proper tutor. Liu Shilin herself had learned those formal manners, though only because her father had forced her to. Yet, when compared to Lin Kuang's elegance, even she fell short by a fair margin.

Looks like Dad found me a pretty incredible guy. Liu Shilin mused.

After the meal, Liu Shilin paid the bill, and the three of them left the restaurant.

"Sis, it's Saturday! Shouldn't we go to Dimple?" Liu Shiyu asked with a beaming smile as they walked out.

"Maybe next time. I'm a bit tired today," Liu Shilin said with a gentle smile. At that moment, she was feeling drained and sleepy, wanting nothing more than to go home and rest.

"Fine, we'll go tomorrow then," Liu Shiyu said, a little reluctantly.

Liu Shilin smiled and nodded. The three of them got into the car and drove off, with Lin Kuang once again in the passenger seat of Liu Shiyu's car.

Soft music filled the car as they drove, creating a pleasant atmosphere on the summer night.

"Hey, hooligan, why the long face? Does someone owe you money or something?"

Seeing Lin Kuang's silence, Liu Shiyu decided to break it. It wasn't that she actually wanted to talk to him; she was just bored.

At her words, Lin Kuang paused. He glanced at his own expressionless face in the rearview mirror and couldn't help but give a wry smile.

She's right. Why have I been so stern lately? This isn't my personality at all! Could it be that I'm still not used to being back in the city? he thought.

The next moment, he pressed his palms to his face and began rubbing it vigorously.

Is this guy sick in the head or something? Liu Shiyu wondered.

After a few moments, Lin Kuang dropped his hands. His cold expression had vanished, replaced by a sunny smile.

"Phew, that's more like it. This is the real me," Lin Kuang said with a smile, looking at his reflection again.

"Psycho," Liu Shiyu muttered irritably, watching him talk to himself.

Lin Kuang merely shrugged, unfazed. He smiled as he gazed at the scenery outside, but the slight flicker in his deep eyes suggested his mind wasn't on the view at all.

They soon arrived back at the villa.

"Lin Kuang, Shiyu and I live upstairs, so you can stay downstairs," Liu Shilin said with a smile, sitting on the living room sofa. "There's a full bathroom down here, so make yourself at home. If you get hungry, there's food in the fridge, and a maid brings us our meals every day."

"Sounds good. Anywhere is fine with me, as long as I have a place to stay," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.

"Good. I'm going to head up now; I'm pretty tired. You should also get some rest. I'll take you to the company on Monday," Liu Shilin added, looking at Lin Kuang.

"Alright, you go on and rest. I'll take a shower in a bit and turn in myself," Lin Kuang said, smiling as well.

Liu Shilin nodded and asked Liu Shiyu to show Lin Kuang to a room. She then turned and headed upstairs, feeling unusually exhausted for some reason.

The Little Witch mumbled an agreement but immediately went back to fiddling with her phone. A moment later, apparently bored with that, she started watching TV, showing no intention of getting Lin Kuang a room.

Lin Kuang watched her for a moment before asking, "So, which room is mine?"

"Whatever," Liu Shiyu huffed. "There are only two rooms downstairs. Pick whichever one you want. I can't be bothered to play hostess for you."

Unbothered, Lin Kuang shrugged and went to find a room himself.

He found a spacious, clean room furnished with a bed, a wardrobe, a computer, and a bookshelf filled with books. Seeing this, Lin Kuang nodded in satisfaction. A room like this was more than enough for him.

Lin Kuang changed out of his clothes and into the new pajamas he'd just bought, then headed straight for the bathroom. Meanwhile, the Little Witch was still listlessly watching TV while playing on her phone.

Lin Kuang took a quick shower in the bathroom, washing up and feeling much more refreshed afterward. After drying off, he left the bathroom and returned to his room.

He had nothing in common with the Little Witch and figured it was best to keep his distance.

Lying on the bed, Lin Kuang took out his phone and dialed a number. It was Fan Bingbing's, of course; he had promised to call her after he got a new phone.

It seemed she didn't like answering calls from unknown numbers, as she only picked up just as the phone was about to go to voicemail.

"Hello, who is this?" Fan Bingbing's familiar, pleasant voice came through the phone, tinged with confusion.

"Bingbing, it's Lin Kuang. You remember me, right?" he said with a laugh.

"Ah! Of course, I remember! Is this your new number?" Fan Bingbing replied, sounding pleasantly surprised.

"Yeah, I just got it, so I decided to call you right away," Lin Kuang said with a smile. The thought of the beautiful Fan Bingbing put him in an excellent mood.

"Good! I was worried you might have forgotten about me. I'm glad you remembered," Fan Bingbing said cheerfully. It was clear his call had made her quite happy.

"Of course not. I don't have amnesia," Lin Kuang joked. "And even if I did, a woman as beautiful as you would be impossible to forget."

"Oh, stop," Fan Bingbing said, sounding a bit embarrassed, but her happy tone gave her away.

However, just at that moment, a piercing scream suddenly echoed from upstairs.
