Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A Hair's Breadth from Disaster

"Morning exercises. I can't be bothered to explain them to you. Looking at you, I doubt you could do them anyway," Lin Kuang said flatly, glancing at Liu Shiyu's ample bosom.

Hearing his words, Liu Shiyu froze for a moment. When she followed his gaze, the little Witch's face instantly flushed a deep red.

"Lin Kuang, you jerk, you scoundrel! How do you know I can't run?! I just don't feel like it!" Liu Shiyu yelled fiercely, her face crimson.

She was well aware of her generous chest. She already felt like she was leaning forward slightly just from walking, so running was truly uncomfortable. The violent up-and-down motion was not a pleasant sensation at all. But she couldn't accept Lin Kuang's disdainful look, so she stubbornly held her ground.

Lin Kuang glanced at her chest again and said with a grin, "Are you sure? It's not too late. Why don't we go out for a couple of laps and test that theory?"

"I-I-I'm not running with you! It's embarrassing!" Liu Shiyu retorted, her face still red. She spun around and walked away. If the standoff had continued, she would have lost face.

This girl is really stubborn. But this isn't so bad; this is what real life is all about. Lin Kuang thought to himself as he entered the bathroom. He took a shower and then returned to his room.

After changing into a fresh set of clothes, Lin Kuang carried his dirty laundry out the door. After all, clothes get dirty and need to be washed; he couldn't just leave them in his room forever. With that thought, he went to the bathroom to do his laundry.

Meanwhile, Liu Shilin and Liu Shiyu were walking down the stairs.

Having already washed up, Liu Shilin had changed into a set of loungewear. A faint, charming smile graced her pretty face.

"Shiyu, go call Lin Kuang. It's almost time for breakfast," Liu Shilin said with a smile as she sat on the sofa.

"Sis, I don't want to call that guy. I hate his guts," Liu Shiyu pouted, shaking Liu Shilin's arm coquettishly.

Seeing this, Liu Shilin helplessly patted her on the head. "Oh, you. Lin Kuang has a pretty good personality. Why do you dislike him so much?"

"Good? What's good about him! The guy is just a huge pervert, a complete scoundrel!" Liu Shiyu huffed, getting angry at the mere mention of Lin Kuang.

"You really need to work on that temper of yours. Fine, you sit here. I'll go get him for breakfast," Liu Shilin said with a smile, getting up to find Lin Kuang.

Just then, Lin Kuang happened to be coming out of the bathroom carrying a washbasin, which was naturally filled with his freshly washed clothes. "Shilin, no need to call me. Just tell me where I can hang these to dry," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he exited the bathroom.

Hearing his voice, Liu Shilin couldn't help but look back. Seeing Lin Kuang holding the basin with a smile on his face, her pretty face inexplicably turned red. Could it be because he saw me completely naked last night?

"You don't have to do laundry. Just leave your dirty clothes in your room, and Auntie Zhang will come by to collect them at nine in the morning," Liu Shilin said with a smile.

"It's no problem, I've already washed them. Where should I hang them?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.

"This is the laundry room. You can just leave them here. Auntie Zhang will take care of them when she arrives," Liu Shilin explained, leading him to the laundry room.

Lin Kuang nodded and hung the clothes from the basin on the hangers one by one.

Just as he finished and stepped out of the laundry room, a man walked in carrying a takeout breakfast.

"Miss Liu, here is your breakfast," the young delivery man said as he entered, though his tone was slightly unnatural.

"Hm? Where's Xiao Li? Why isn't he here today?" Liu Shilin asked curiously as she reached out to take the food.

"Ah, um... Xiao Li caught a cold and couldn't come in today, so he asked me to deliver it," the young man said hesitantly.

Liu Shilin didn't think much of it and took the breakfast from his hands. But in the next instant, a gleaming dagger appeared in the man's hand, thrusting straight toward Liu Shilin's chest!

The sharp dagger flashed, blinding in the sunlight!

In that instant, Liu Shilin froze, forgetting even to scream as she stared blankly at the blade plunging toward her chest.

Just when Liu Shilin thought she was done for, a powerful hand shot out in front of her. The hand clamped down firmly on the young man's wrist, stopping the shimmering dagger from advancing another inch.

The newcomer was none other than Lin Kuang. The moment he had laid eyes on the delivery man, his instincts screamed that something was wrong. The man's rushed speech had made him even more suspicious, so Lin Kuang had remained secretly on guard. The instant the man made his move, Lin Kuang had sprung into action to stop him.

The young man was stunned, shocked that his killing blow had been blocked.

However, he was no simple opponent. The moment his wrist was caught, he flipped the dagger upright, aiming its point directly at Lin Kuang's wrist.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang pushed Liu Shilin away onto the sofa. He then released his grip, lunged forward, and slammed his shoulder into the attacker with a powerful Mount Collapse.

The next moment, the disguised young man was sent tumbling to the floor, and the cold, flashing dagger clattered away from his grasp. Lin Kuang immediately pounced, hauling the man up from the ground only to slam him violently back down.

THUD! The man was nearly killed by the impact, his body convulsing and twitching uncontrollably. His face turned ghostly pale, and he was seeing stars.

"Speak. Who sent you?" Lin Kuang asked indifferently, looking down at the man on the floor.

Hearing the question, the young man said nothing. He simply clenched his teeth and glared at Lin Kuang, refusing to utter a word.

"You've got a lot of backbone, don't you? Very good."

With that, Lin Kuang picked up the fallen dagger and dragged the man into the bathroom like a sack of dead weight.

At that moment, Liu Shilin, who had fallen onto the sofa, finally regained her senses. Her face was pale, and her heart pounded with lingering fear. If Lin Kuang had been just two seconds later, she would have been finished!

"Sis, Sis, are you okay?" Liu Shiyu, having snapped out of her own shock, rushed over, her pretty face filled with concern.

Liu Shilin shook her head. "I'm fine. I'm fine, don't worry."

"Phew, that's good, that's good. You scared me to death," Liu Shiyu said, patting her ample chest with a look of profound relief.

"Lin Kuang isn't going to kill that guy, is he?" The thought suddenly occurred to Liu Shilin. She recalled the image of Lin Kuang dragging the man into the bathroom with the dagger in hand. A terrible feeling bloomed in her heart, and her face, which had just regained some color, turned deathly pale once more.
