Bella's treatment officially began the following week.
Every few days, Leo accompanied her to Dr. Vance's clinic. Along with regular therapy sessions to help her recover from the trauma, she was also placed on medication to gradually remove the remaining traces of the neurotoxic drug from her body. The process was slow, sometimes frustrating but Bella was determined.
Some days she felt perfectly normal, as though the nightmare had never happened. Other days she struggled with some headaches, dizziness or sudden exhaustion that left her curled up on the couch, unable to do anything but rest. Leo never complained. No matter how busy he was with work, with the aftermath of everything that had happened, he personally took her to every appointment and stayed beside her throughout each consultation.
He held her hand during blood tests, sat quietly while she spoke to the therapist and drove her home in comfortable silence when she was too tired to talk.
