"No," Winter said, her voice low and smooth. "I don't think you are."
She handed Bella the tablet.
Bella looked at the screen. The project was ambitious. Robots designed to assist in patient care, to help with physical therapy and rehabilitation, to provide companionship to those who were isolated, who had no one to talk to, who spent their days alone in hospital rooms waiting for visitors who never came. The timeline was aggressive, the goals were lofty, and the challenges were significant.
Bella's heart beat faster.
She wanted this.
She looked up at Winter. "When do we start?"
Winter's dark eyes gleamed with interest, but her expression remained cold and unreachable.
"Tomorrow," she said. "Be here at 7 AM. Don't be late."
Bella nodded. "I'll be here."
Winter nodded back. Just a small dip of her chin.
Bella handed back the tablet, said goodbye and walked out of the lab.
