The loaded breakfast tray feels light on my way up from the Celestial Cafe. It has one of everything. Tina has done some limited research on Marielena's social media and discovered that she went vegan for a month when challenged by a vegan friend. However, she missed tacos al carbon, tacos al pastor, chile verde with meat, and fire-grilled chicken. She likes breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, and huevos rancheros, with pan dulce. Our chefs worked with Kul and Ek Chuah to create the perfect traditional breakfast--with Ek Chuah's special hot chocolate.
Mom, Dad, Gram, Gramps, Damon, Tina, and Jocelyn accompany me. "Do you think we'll overwhelm the poor woman?" Gram asks. "She should eat her breakfast in peace."
Gramps shakes his head. "If she has the stomach for being a farmer and for politics, she'll do just fine, Adella. She's tough."
Damon quips, "And we have my charm as a weapon."
